strawberry transplanting.....
A few pictures of Sunday when we created the new strawberry bed......Dan and Susie planted the strawberries and Abigail and Sam helped water them in.....
Mothers Day 2007
I hope you all had a lovely day on Sunday. Mine was just perfect......instead of going out for the day we spent most of the day at home. Lloyd woke me up with coffee and then all the children came in and sat on the bed and gave me cards and gifts.....you can see them in the picture above....
Chris gave me a box of miniature chocolates from Laura Secord that he had chosen himself at the mall last Wednesday when he went with a friend.
Laurie gave me a Nickelback cd that I had mentioned a while back.
Susannah gave me a 'blue box' it is a triangular box coloured blue and it has quilled shapes on it. When you open the box there are little pieces of paper rolled up and when I feel blue I have to open one and read it...they say things like 'You make me smile when you hug me' and 'You make me smile when you tell me you love me' Its beautiful!
Abigail gave me a beautifully decorated jar with pot pourri inside....very pretty and in a decorated bag - I love this because I know that Debbie the preschool teacher is not keen on crafts so I am sure this was a difficult job for her and 20 children!
Sam gave me a lovely painted glass hummingbird picture to hang in the window - I had shown them to Lloyd a while ago and said that I liked them :)
All in all I was VERY lucky :)
After breakfast, Lloyd and I went to my favourite garden centre and bought some plants. I got a clematis and a honeysuckle for the porch - both of which attract Hummingbirds...
I bought 12 strawberry plants and 6 tomato plants too...as well as a watering can and some trowels.
We came home and then everyone spent the whole afternoon outside...Lloyd built me two small beds to plant the strawberries....and to move the raspberries, so we dug up all the raspberry bushes and moved them over to where the vegetable garden is going to be...they are now all planted and ready...I just cover the strawberries on the nights there may be a frost. I am leaving the clematis and honeysuckle indoors for another week at night not just because of the frost but because of the dogs and piggy eating them! By then the dog run will be built so the plants will be safer.
We had planned to go out for dinner as a family but the day went so fast and we were so busy out in the garden that we decided to stay home...so Lloyd and I ran into town and got pizza and brought that home instead.....
Late in then evening, just before dusk, Dan and I went for a long walk up on Marys field and saw a HUGE deer...it stood and stared at us for a while and then ran with its white tail bobbing as it went.....
It was a lovely Mothers Day - thank you Lloyd.....thank you Christopher, Laurence, Susannah, Abigail and Samuel!
Freeing the fish......
On Saturday we had our annual freeing of the fish......we went to the store and bought 50 goldfish for the pond so that they eat many of the mosquito larvae.......we had them in the bags by the edge of the pond all afternoon and then when Chris and Susie got back from their respective birthday parties, we all went down to the pond and let the fish swim free......Dan let a bag of 25 go free and Laurie let his bag of 25 go free :)
Back at last...
Lloyd and I just got back from town...filled the truck with gas...bought new bottles for the water filter (just under 60 litres of water) and the kids are sat eating pizza and a broccoli salad at the table...Lloyd is outside finishing the dog run....he and I will eat later because he isn't hungry right now and I can wait - I'd rather eat with him....
So tomorrow is Dans 20th birthday, and he has chosen (of all places) the zoo for his birthday trip! He is really looking forward to it, despite me warning him that it is a dreadful zoo and he should think of it as just a place for the kids to run about, for us to have a bit of a picnic and enjoy the 27c temperatures they promise us for tomorrow :) Isn't this weather we are having lately GORGEOUS???? I can't believe how tanned I am already - especially my face :) although I think its my drugs that are helping with that as they make you photo sensitive lol!
I have packed a picnic all ready and we will set off in the morning for the zoo. After a day at the zoo we will swing into town to pick up a cake from Wow Factor Desserts for his birthday.....have the cake with the children after school and then Lloyd and I are taking Dan out for dinner to either OPM or Joeys Global Grill :)
And it would be perfect if we could get home in time to watch a thunderstorm arrive!!! Dan is hoping to see one before he leaves :)
My feet are FILTHY! I was walking barefoot in the sand at the playground this morning and I just noticed how dirty my feet are from it! I need to shower but it will have to wait until I have been for my run....

Plans change again....
I have so much to blog about...when I get the time!! Today I planned to go to breakfast with Dan....then go to Christies for tea in the afternoon...but when I took Abby to preschool Debbie put her arm across the door and stopped me leaving - Darlene's DD was ill and had to go to hospital so they needed a spare teacher...so yup, I agreed to stay.
I had to run home and get Sam (and my coffee lol) and then headed back to preschool where I spent the morning stopping boys from hitting each other, organized 9 girls in the bathroom......and sorted out a fight between too sisters who had thrown sand at each other.....fun fun fun!
After pre school was done I rushed home and we all grabbed lunch snacks and I did some laundry and tidied a little and then we got in the car and headed over to CHristies for tea...which was so much fun (except for Sam spilling tea all over my legs........)
Now we are home and Lloyd is on his way home too - when he gets back we are racing into town for gas and a few bits and pieces (because tomorrow is Dans birthday!!)
I was giving the children the day off school tomorrow but Laurie has a PAT so he HAS to go :( So they are all going or it wouldn't be fair....so now my plans have to change for tomorrow too....
So I have had no time to blog today and yesterday I had no time either - and I have soooooo many pictures to add and things to say but just NO TIME...so hopefully when I get back from town I can catch up with our news.....
Anyway, thank you for tea Christie - it was great to see you and to see Sugar again! And I love my album (which I am not going to blog about until I have it for keeps and can post pictures of it too and show it off - so HURRY UP and finish it ;) I love it - I love how you coloured the pages!
Chow for now everyone! :)
