Trebuchet construction
Chris has been working on a new project - building a trebuchet......he designed it first and then set to work with wood, hammer, nails, bucket, rope, weights and rocks......he's building a miniature as part of his project to put in one of his movies......and he is writing a project on them too....he got the ball to fly quite far through the air this morning until Rosie decided she had had enough sharing her ball and ran off with it :)
Great evening
Lloyd swam!!! I am in shock!! He got in the pool and swam! It was so much fun!
Anyone who knows Lloyd well will know what a major event this is...he can't swim in most pools because of the chlorine and his eyes......and other people lol!
I have never seen Lloyd in a pool....not since we were children anyway! But tonight he got in the pool and he loved it...of course he gets carried away so now he thinks we should go and look at the cost of a proper pool!
He was so funny as he got in, hopping about because of the cold but he soon warmed up and loved it! We played volleyball and swam and chatted and laughed so much! The children were all inside after supper - flaked from the heat and playing all day...so we had the pool to ourselves and it was lovely....
Of course, I have no photographic evidence of him being in the pool...he threatened to never fill my truck with gas ever again if I took pictures of him lol! And even though I have been driving for 11 years, I have never once filled my vehicle with gas - I don't know what to do.......so I didn't risk it hahahaha!
He is looking forward to swimming with the kids tomorrow now :) and taking Sam in the pool :)
The solar cover for the pool is fab - it warms the water so fast!

Fire fears
In the summer months our worries turn to the fear of tornadoes and forest fires.....mainly because we have very little protection from a tornado...and with the grass so dry this year, a fire is very likely. There are 146 fires burning in Alberta and 50 of them are out of control. There is a real likelihood that at one point in the fture (this year or in a few years) we will be evacuated because of a grass fire........
So we've been talking about what we would want to take with us.....with both vehicles we could put three children in Lloyds car and load up the truck with the other two children and our belongings...as much as we could cram in within the short time you are given......the animals of course although the chickens......I'm not sure we could take them :( what do people do with their livestock at times like that? And Cairo the cat???? What if we couldn't find him?
I'd want to take the laptop, computer, cameras, Nannys vase, Grandads writing box.....and my keepsake boxes. My scrapbook albums and the bottom drawer of my scrapbook supplies which has all my photographs.....after that I would just grab anything I had time for......
Anyway the legal essentials like residency cards and passports, birth certificates etc etc are ready to go if it ever happens.....
I hope it never happens. We need rain. We desperately need rain.

Pool Boy....
Just keeps getting hotter and hotter......
So we continue to cool off in the pool! We also headed to Toys R Us for the afternoon and bought a few things and then went to Kites and Other Delights....wow if anyone wants to hang out somewhere cool then Kites and Other Delights is lovely!!! Their AC is fab!!!! Lloyd bought a nice kite which he plans to try later.......Laurie and Chris had earned $40 feeding next doors dogs and chickens while they were away last week so they spent their earnings............and we picked up Iced Capps for all of us on the way home.......
