Animal Kingdom pics.....
Not sure if I've posted any of these before but some snaps of Animal Kingdom....I wasn't impressed by Animal Kingdom and was really disappointed with The Tree of Life'.....
The kids loved Expedition Everest though and went on twice......
Sam escapes his stroller!
We stopped off in 'America' for some drinks and while Lloyd went in search of some OJ for me, I let Sam run around the place and burn up some energy.....he loved looking at the fountain...and he kept finding leaves and flowers for me....I kept them all! He loved being 'free' to chase the seagulls and run about and everyone loved watching him......and of course he LOVED that everyone loved watching him!
After all that running about he sure did need some juice!
My pearl....
I don't think I posted this pic....this is in 'Japan' and is of the oyster I picked being opened and the girl searching inside for my pearl......it was really special and Lloyd really wanted to get one for me for my birthday :) he just went and bought the ticket and surprised me :) I picked a nice fat oyster and it worked because my pearl is larger than average :)
Epcot...
Epcot was my favourite of the Disney parks.....we went on my birthday and I really enjoyed it....I would love to go back with just Lloyd and spend time strolling around the different countries.....there is so much to see and learn and experience....
The park was so quiet...the boys went off on their own for a few hours to enjoy the rollercoasters etc.....they had fun and then took Lloyd on the best rides before we left!
I really loved Epcot!
Happy :)
7pm and I am curled up reading my book...TRYING to finish The Glass Castle which is just the BEST book I have read in a long time...I'm going to send it to my Mum to read when I am done....
Anyway...sat in my big chair reading and I see a car coming up the driveway.....I figure its Derek our drywaller guy coming to do another coat...he said he might....
It wasn't...it was the Mom of the childrens new school friend......her DS is playing in a hockey game tonight and they wondered if Chris would like to go and watch wiith them!!!! Of course Chris was thrilled so off he has gone to watch hockey and won't be back until 11:30pm......
Anyway to many of you this is probably quite normal but to us...well this is sooo great....living on an acreage and homeschooling has meant that friends were widespread across the city...get-togethers have to be arranged and just 'dropping by' doesn't happen......friendships and socialising happens BUT it takes more of an effort...
This is one of the reasons the children are back in school - to meet friends who live just around the corner..friends who can drop by - and DO.....friends they can walk or cycle to.....even when Laurie was at the local public school this didn't happen.....the children just lived too far apart...and weren't the nicest of children......or families (yes I'm being judgmental but they just weren't our 'type'......snob that I am lol!)
I can still see many MANY downsides to schooling.....and still think unschooling is the way to go ideally.......but homeschooling has its downsides too.....nothing is perfect....for now this is working for us and I am feeling very happy with our decision....I think things would be very different if we still lived in the city but living out here on an acreage...not in a subdivision....well I think this is right for us....
The children are really happy right now and that is what matters...who knows what will happen in the future......plans change.....life brings changes and we know unschooling is always an option.

Blue hot chocolate
Beautiful creature....
Heather!!!!
We did it Heather...we finally got pictures of our moose...in fact we had 3 here today and got pictures of them all...not as great as your pictures but I am still very happy to get pictures as the moose have always come out at dusk and the pictures have been useless......
Lloyd went out after them and heard a truck in the lane and then saw the third moose in the lane beside our house....scared by the truck, the moose ran off and Lloyd got the shot of it running :)
The snow is so deep here right now that it was fun watching Lloyd try to struggle to the top field to get closer!
Birthday gifts...
We were finally able to get into our mailbox last night which was a good thing as it was FULL...two HUGE parcels from England......the children were thrilled....
From Lloyds parents Susannah had a birthday gift of mix and match pyjamas....she was THRILLED and as the pants are like yoga pants she opted to wear them all day today too!
Thank you Terry and Chris for my gorgeous earrings!! They are beautiful....I love the store Past Times!!! The earrings are styled on a 1900's modernism design...with mother of pearl on silver and are so pretty!
Thank you also for the Wedding Congrats cards and the lovely silver wishbone you sent us!
The parcel from my parents had comics/ magazines for Laurie and Abigail..........a wedding congrats card for us and a birthday gifts for Susie of some cheerleaders pompoms and a cats-cradle game....there were also several toys and puzzles and newspaper clipping of the Tornadoes in Orlando....and a photograph of my cousin Lynn and her little boy Evan.......I think Evan actually looks like me...around the mouth and chin and like my sister Karen around the eyes......Lynn hasn't changed and neither has my Aunty Pat who is also in the picture..........
Evan is the same age as Abigail.
Anyway, thank you all very much for the parcels and gifts!
I also got a homeschool magazine I subscribe to...oh and our marriage certificate arrived which means I can legally change my name on everything! It was a VERY good mail day :)
The above pics show Susie in her new pj's.....the mix and match part are a stripy tank top with spaghetti straps and some shorts!
I'm screwed....
