We had a Kitchen God two years back.....definitely a memorable experience we enjoyed!!!

Deer print...

We found a deer print in the snow and decided to measure it against all our own prints.....we saw sooooo many prints in the snow today - but the only animals we saw were bison and a squirrel (and we see a squirrel every day at home!!! Oh well!

Laurie.....

Sunday walk...

It was such a gorgeous day.....I wish these temperatures were here to stay!!!!!

bullseye! :)

Lloyd took a direct hit with a snowball :)

Susannahs mountain climbing......

Susannah wanted her picture taken on top of every pile of snow she could find!

Posing by Astotin lake......

Astotin Island

There were people walking across the frozen lake out to the island today...I guess it's still frozen enough for them to do so....I don't think I'd take the chance after days of such warm temperatures...Canadians are braver than us Brits ;)

I remember watching a huge herd of Elk run through the parking lot here and across the beach then they ran over the frozen lake to the island...that was in 2005 when Sam had just been born and my Mom came to stay...we drove her out to Elk Island to see the park in the snow and we saw all the Elk - what a sight!

Astotin Shelter...

This is the shelter overlooking Astotin Lake, where you can light fires and stay warm...in the past we have roasted marshmallows here while the kids have sledded down the hill, we've barbecued here too. Today it was just so nice we walked on by and I simply stopped to photograph it!

Bison Stampede!

As we were driving out of the park we drove b y a small stampede of bison! No idea what they were running from, but they were running through the bison loop from or to something! They were kicking up the snow and looked so mean and angry! I wouldn't have wanted to get in their way THATS for sure! Pretty cool to see!

Don't forget you can click on the pictures to see them larger!

Snapshots from Elk....

Sat here...

...eating apple sauce waiting for the roast beef to finish cooking in the oven and the roast potatoes and the swede and the brussel sprouts.....yumeroonie.....

It was a gorgeous 10c today and we spent the afternoon at Elk Island park for a walk in the sunshine. I worked up an appetite and wanted a snack before my dinner so here I am with my applesauce....it'll do until I get my roast beef.....which I plan to have yummy horseradish sauce with :)

We were going to go to Ice on Whyte but decided to delay until later in the week or next weekend when its colder - we saw on the news last night that they had closed the Ice castle there for safety reasons - it has been so warm here that it has started melting and the ice blocks have come unsteady!!! I can't imagine going and NOT going inside the ice castle!!! So we will wait until next weekend! Elk Island was gorgeous and it was wonderful to be back - it seems like ages since we were last there!
