Swimming beside the bears...
Pictures from our drive..........
Our Whistler bear.......
Our Sunday.......
Well, despite the CONSTANT rain today, we had a wonderful day! We all slept in (thanks to these comfy beds and the very dark black-out curtains). We met everyone for brunch in Portabellos again at 10:30am....the food in there is soooo great and we ended with a HUGE fresh fruit salad with the best tasting fruits ever! Basically we were told to just charge everything to our room and our room bill is being charged to the company. Jeff (company owner) was telling us that his credit card company phoned on Friday night to ask if there was a reason he had just charged $17,000 from the Chateau Whistler (GULP!!!!) He WAS laughing as he said it though (phew!!!)
After brunch we had a look around the conference hall and trade show where BCAL had been setting up....it was looking good! Then we got the car and went for a drive up to Pemberton to see the Nairn Falls....took a few snapshots but it was rainy and miserable so we didn't go far. Back to the hotel and Lloyd had to start work, so we came up to the hotel room for a while and then headed down to the pool. We had sooooo much fun in the pool. There is an indoor pool that is connected to an outdoor pool via a kind of tunnel that you can swim through. We spent the whole afternoon outside swimming in the pool despite it being 5c outside! There are also two hot tubs outside and a lap pool....so we sat in the hot tub for a while and then got back in the pool for a swim and kept swapping all afternoon - I preferred the cooler pool really - I LOVE swimming outdoors. The pools here also have music piped into them so you can hear music under the water!!!! Very cool! Above the water it was really steamy. One of the other families we are with joined us for a while.....then Lloyd came out to say it was almost time for dinner - he was about to head to a quick meeting (in the bar lol) and then we would head for dinner.....so we got out of the pool and boy are the changing rooms nice! The showers have shampoo, conditioner and body wash in them and then in the changing room there are hair dryers and hair spray and bottles of botanical deodorants, huge tubs of body lotion and hair gel, tubs with cotton buds.....piles and piles of fluffy towels!
We got outside and the boys yell at me that theres a bear! So we go outside (in the rain lol) and take pictures of this little black bear on the hillside just the other side of the fence! I only had Chris's camera though, so we race up to the room to get mine and race back down to the pool and get a few pictures! But just as I start to take some a group of people come down the hill towards the pair noisily taking pictures and trying to get too close and they scared it into the trees behind the hotel.
Dinner was nice - I had a bacon, tomato and Brie melt which was delicious!
After dinner Lloyd had to go back to the conference and the casino event - I could have gone but I have another late night tomorrow and I really wanted a relaxing evening....so I came back upstairs and we watched Ratatouille on the movies on command in the room. Great movie!
Now its just after 9pm and the boys have gone back down to the pool for a swim in the dark. Lloyd has another hour until he is finished for the night. All the other children are fast asleep and I am enjoying the peace! This hotel is soooo quiet - muct be very well soundproofed - although I don't think we have rooms besides our suite - probably a good thing - although have to say the kids have been sooooo great and everyone has commented on how wonderful they are!
Plans for tomorrow are to go into the village to do some shopping - there is a fab candy store the kids want to go back to....and I want to take some photographs of them all in the little park bit beside the hotel......and then we want to spend the afternoon in the pool again.....then the evening we have the presidents dinner so I get to dress up...
Oh had to laugh today....we were heading out for dinner and Abby said to me 'Mom why do you always look so fancy'? Hahahahaha! I guess she noticed I've been making an effort this weekend and all the clothes I bought were worth it :)
Ok...I;m going to post some pictures!
