Michael Jackson Lives!!!
Making Oreo Ice Cream!!!
Now, THIS is a fantastic activity for your kids this Summer!!!! Simple ingredients and so so easy!!!! Head over to:
vintagechica.typepad.com/the_life_and_times_of_thi/2009/06/semihomemade-oreo-cookie-ice-cream.html
Laurence and Grandad Thorpe made this today - and followed the instructions EXACTLY - even eating the extra Oreos when they were told to!!! :) So much fun to watch them make it :) and we had it for dessert tonight - DELICIOUS!!!! We added extra cookies to the top so we had one each!!! :) YUMMY!!!! :)
We will definitely be making this again before Summer ends - I'm keeping the ingredients in the freezer for when Laurence has a friend over as it's a great easy activity for older kids to make on their own when friends are over - although any age can do it - sometimes its good to have a few activities on hand for my older kids - and ones that involve food are often a big hit ;)
Making Kulfi...
We've been having a bit of a cooking fest lately and today Susannah made an Indian dessert with Grandma Terry - Kulfi!! On the back it says something about 'feeding Gits Kulfi' so I said how I can feed it to my little gits hahahaha and then Terry realised that the actually make of the product is Gits ;) hahahahaha ;)
Sundaes on Mondays......
Christie brought Susannah back from a weekend of camping last night and stayed for a while to chat - we sat and watched the rain come down (yay for HEAVY rain at last!!) and listened to the thunder, and I also made ice cream sundaes for everyone.
I went out a few days ago and bought some pretty sundae glasses in all kinds of shapes and sizes - just at Dollarama!! They really make a difference when having ice cream for the kids - or for me when I'm having my yoghurt and granola!! Last night I jazzed up the ice cream with whipped topping and sprinkles, sauce and chocolate chips too :) I must pick up some cherries for the top! Susie has some great recipes for breakfast parfaits too - with layers of fruit and yoghurt, cheerios, rice krispies etc etc easy and just look soooo much nicer in sundae glasses.
I'm used to calling them Knickerbockerglories.....So go ahead - pick up some glasses and go have yourself a knickerbockerglory today :) make your kids one TODAY :) What a fun thing to do this Summer :)
Galaxyland...and WEM
Yesterday we went to West Edmonton Mall so that Terry and Chris could do their shopping and get all their touristy bits and pieces. They went off on their own for a few hours. Chris and Laurence went off and did some shopping. Laurie bought himself a new t-shirt, and Chris bought himself a whiteboard for his new bedroom and four posters - as well as a statue of a jokey weed leaf for his shelf. Oh the things kids buy when they shop by themselves - he also facebooked that he couldn't get into the bong shop because he was under age ;) lol! It seems I took my Nephew in there under age by mistake a couple of years ago lol - oops!!!!
I bought some gifts for the new babies and also hit Bath and Body works - but was very disappointed to find out that they only do my Warm Milk and Honey Sleep Line at Christmas!!!! Sigh......I REALLY wanted to stock up on that :( So I just bought some more of my Warm Vanilla Sugar line and some liquid hand soap for the downstairs bathroom in Sea Island Cotton.
A couple of magazines....I wanted Colbie Caillats new cd but couldn't find it. We went into Galaxyland for a while but omg that place is soooo overwhelming to all the senses - so loud and bright and lights flashing and so many people and the kids rushing here there and everywhere - it was just totally draining!!! NIGHTMARE!!!
Went to the British Import Store (of course) and the children picked a treat each. Oh and I got Sam some new swim trunks in the Childrens Place sale. Ready to hit Lindbrook when Lloyd goes back to work!!
Welcome to the World little ones!!
Lloyds personal Assistant, Edith, has just had twin boys!!! During her pregnancy Edith moved to New Jersey where she will be living from now on with her family. We wish them all well but are sorry to see them go! Aren't the little boys just the sweetest little things though? Awwwww!!!! :) Congratulations to them all :) A beautiful family!

Michael Jackson
Can't seem to find Thriller that doesn't have embedding disabled so here is the link instead:

I don't want to go on about how Michael Jackson lived his life or how he died, but I don't think I can let his death pass without mentioning him. His music was such a big part of the era I grew up in. I wasn't a huge fan, but I do remember being amazed by the music video 'Thriller' - I LOVED it :) and I remember loving the song 'We are the World' and listening to it with my French penpal when she came over to stay. I remember the Pepsi commercials, the funny stories in the paper about him - all the jokes and news reports, the hysteria surrounding him.
I have to say I much preferred his older - Motown music/ Jackson 5's to his more recent music.
Anyway, here are a few of my favourites. Ben - just because it reminds me of a charity song that was used in the UK many years ago. I've loved it ever since. Thriller - because it holds many memories for me - not because it's such a great song - I loved the video soooooo much!!! 'I'll be There' just because I like it :) What were your favourites?

Amberlea Meadows...
Before we went to the Devonian Botanical gardens, we went to Amberlea Meadows to their open house and horse show. It was nice to look around and see all of the horses - get the children more used to being around horses - see them all being washed and groomed and prepared for the ring. We went outside and said hi t several different horses out there - I fell in love with one called Vicky (Victorias Secret). We watched some jumping and had a walk around the stables. It wasn't as good as the horse show we went to the other week, but it was still nice to be around the horses - for Abigail especially, who is horse mad at the moment!!! :)
