My day......

Lloyd went in to work late today - very late for him. He woke me at 8am and then joined me for coffee before leaving........normally that means he would work a bit later, but he finished today at 4pm and is on his way home...after stopping off for chicken feed on the way.....

Susie is busy at the table finishing the mobile she started making yesterday......i'll add a pic when she is done.....it has clouds and rainbows and lightening fluttering round a big sun!

Abigail has been cutting out lots of sunshines too........must be the weather....and taslking of the weather the news has said that we may have an energy crisis here in AB because we are all using too much power at once...running air conditioning units and fans.......so they are asking people to cut back....I didn't hear until late this afternoon...by which time I have done my normal Monday laundry of about 6 loads....in the washer and the dryer.....and I've had the fan going...and had the kettle boiling for coffee AND the dishwasher has done two cycles! Ah well! I refuse to feel guilty when Lloyd works for the government and they haven't taken any measures to cut back.......you know the ac is run so cold in some offices that the staff have to run HEATERS because its too cold!!!!! So I will continue to use whatever I feel necessary!

So much for Alberta being the 'Energy Province' and now I've heard that they have closed the splashpark.........water shortage and power shortage.........no splashpark!! We love it there :(

So my jerk of an ex is late paying AGAIN.....he says its because he is self employed...well sorry dork but that doesn't stop you from LETTING ME KNOW!!!!! I keep telling him...I just wantt o KNOW when to expect my maintenance...thats all...if it's going to be late thats ok - JUST LET ME KNOW!!!!!! GGGgrrrrrrr

So I'm hoping to go to A Taste of Edmonton with C before it finishes.....I have never been and Lloyd wasn't impressed when he went so isn't keen to take me lol! So I figure a girls night out will be fun! And with food too - even better :)

Lost friendship?

I have an old friend.....haven't been in touch for two years......I miss her....but I'm really nervous to contact her again. We didn't fall out, she just didn't contact me and I didn't contact her....it just kind of ended..........for stupid reasons........no reason.........

I am trying to decide whether to take the step to contact her.........I'm not sure how she will react.........or if she will at all.....and how I will feel either way.........

This morning I was looking through my keepsake box and I found a doily she had made me......is that crochet? It's very fine like lace almost..............

Maybe I should email her...I don't even know if she still lives around here or anything..........

This is my dilemma today....has been for the last few days.....of all the friendships that have come and gone through my life, for some reason this one I really miss!

Where'd all the happy people go?

Do you know that I know hardly any happy people!!! Why are people so unhappy these days and why do they seem to enjoy being unhappy...it's like it's cool to be miserable! People whinge and moan and complain and love to share their misery and bad times....

We all have bad times and good...yet it seems people these days wallow in the bad times and forget the good.

This is NOT a dress rehearsal!! This is your life...it is very VERY short in the grand scale of things...so make the most of it...if you are NOT happy then DO SOMETHING about that! Quit making excuses........

BE HAPPY!!!!!!!!!! :)

preschool money

So today I recieved in the mail a cheque for $200 from that kind dork who calls himself PM. Every month from now on Canadian families get $100 per child under 6 which can go towards anything you like......supposedly pre school activities or childcare.

I don't need childcare and we don't do pre-school.....so I have $200 a month for Sam and Abby............some will go towards towards Abigails dance classes in the Fall......the rest I guess will disappear on things we do at home, places we go.......activities we join in with........life!!!

I guess it will get lumped in with the homeschool funding we get.....my kids all learn together and do activities together so separating the money seems pointless. I think it's great that the government recognises that not all parents want to use daycare or preschool classes...I love that it leaves the choice with us......

That said, I feel that taxing us on it and reducing other benefits for people kind of cons many out of their money.......in one hand - out the other.........isn't that always the way?

Pirate treasure maps

It seems to be pirates, pirates everywhere at the moment....

So with that in mind, this morning we set to work making treasure maps (and wanted posters!). We soaked the cardstock in coffee and then dropped little grains of coffee on them.....we let the cardstock dry.

Once the card was dry we singed the edges with flames and scrunched the paper up to 'age' it......then we set to work drawing our treasure maps :)

It was fun!

Sundays sunset......

The sunset wasn't as spectacular last night...but the clouds in the East reflected the sunset and glowed the most incredible shades of pink.........big puffy clouds that look nlike mountains rising up....all pink and cotton candy-ish!

Our Sunday evening....................

We spent the early evening in the basement eating junk and watching Cheaper By The Dozen 2 with the kids........it was a good movie and made us want to find a little cottage somewhere for holidays......but the only one we saw we liked for sale on MLS was almost a million so I guess we won't be doing that!

After the movie we headed outside to see if the storm was going to reach us...seems to have gone just south of us sadly...we went out into the lane and Lloyd cut down all the branches that were in the way of me seeing if cars are coming up the road when I pull out of the driveway...he also pruned the base of the apple tree and we hunted in a big hole for spiders...an amazing web witha weird hole was in it.........yuck!

The younger three came down with us and wanted to pose for the camera...some days they are such posers.......except for Sam who rarely agrees to look at the camera! The boys were too tired from their sleepover so they stayed inside......

Lloyd started tearing down the barn roof...and our neighbour came over to check Chris's availability for feeding their dogs when they go away.......she apologised for the noise at the party the other week!

Sam is FILTHY DIRTY in these pictures.....covered in chocolate and fruity sweets and cookie and watermelon and juice and dirty water from the slip and slide...but he's so happy just to be outside so who cares :) sometimes I get the best pictures when the kids haven't brushed their hair or worn clean clothes......

Fruitful harvest

Apart from our rhubarb and raspberries we have three (yes THREE!!) apples growing on our apple tree!!! And we also have these berries growing on a huge bush behind our house......no idea what they are.......anyone??????? Blackcurrants?

And we found this chysalis attached to the bush too! How wonderful!
