Old friends and new ........

I'm so glad that we didn't do everything that we had planned today ......we ended up having a lazy morning because I felt ill and hadn't slept......and then we headed into town just after lunch...we went to the library and the children played the summer game...the girl working there remembered the childrens names which was amazing as she must meet a lot of children each day and we only go once or twice a week........she says she's great with names! Sam played with the train and sat and read some books........Susie and Laurie found the books they wanted and they each chose a dvd to borrow.........Abigail made friends with a little boy there and they sat and 'read' to each other.

While they were all busy the Mom of Abigails new friend walked over and started talking to him in a really strong London accent...so I HAD to ask where she was from....so we got chatting and turns out they've been here 7 years and live close to our old home in Glen Allen..she has three children including a teeny tiny two month old girl :)

After the library we went to collect Lloyds new sunglasses...as we were coming out of the optical store I ran into H....a friend I haven't seen for two years.......neither of us could believe who we had run into!!! She looked fab and so happy.....she's living in Boag lake which is really weird as we looked at one of the acreages there! I couldn't believe how big her little girl was.....she's 3!!!!

We had been friends back when Susie was in a class with her DS but both got busy and lost touch....she moved, I moved...life gets hectic......so it was really nice to see her! We swapped numbers and hopefully will get together soon.......

We drove over to pick up Chris from work and then headed to Sobeys for some groceries........I am hopeless at grocery shopping without Lloyd.....I managed to forget to buy sugar, I squashed two loaves of bread FLAT and the milk fell out of the truck when I opened the trunk and the bottle broke! Oh well.......I rarely have to grocery shop alone so thats ok!

There were lots of foods to try in Sobeys today.....we tried such a nice pizza that I ended up buying it for dinner! Multigrain with chicken, spinach and feta.......it was really good! So I did that with superfries and a big salad.

The photos I took at the library were all useless I'm afraid....these are the best three of the whole bunch :( I was in such a rush I think that I just clicked and hoped for the best.......

A journalist in Ontario is writing an article about how non-religious parents raise children with good morals and virtues.......I wrote and offered to be interviewed and she wrote back today and seems very interested so we will have to try and figure out a time for the phone call....I'd prefer to do it by email really.........but we'll see........

I personally don't see that religion has any relevance to children growing up with high morals.....people are always telling me how friendly and polite, how kind and helpful my children are.........why would that be dependent on my religious beliefs? Why is that society seems to think if you are not religious then you have no morals or values? To me that is judgmental and ignorant....yet another reason why I am NOT religious.........

I have many good friends who are very religious.......I totally respect their beliefs. I've never found that it has been a difficult issue between us. My very good friend Lianne back in England even persuaded me to go along to the Alpha course several years ago..........and I happily went with her because it was important to her.......I enjoyed the enlightening discussion but still remain Athiest.

Lloyd and I just came in from a short walk....we didn't go far because I forgot the Deet and the mosquitoes were bad.....I have 6 bites now....they LOVE me.....I have two bites on my neck by my ear....I think they love me so much they wanted to nuzzle my ear....... I took a few pics of the dogs and then of Cairo on the porch.......the skies are darkening now andf they forecast rain...no sunset again tonight.

No use crying over spilled milk.........

Just feed it to the dogs instead.................

I've never seen 4 litres of milk disappear so fast!!!!!!

First egg!!!

Woohoo at last our little ladies have laid an egg!! Our very first egg!!! Laurie went to check on the chickens and top up their water and he found it! The chicken wasn't keen to give it up though :)

It's quite small but not as small as I was expecting!

Woohoo we have eggs!!!! How exciting!!!!

Clever, clever chickens!!!!

what to do?

I feel so so sick yet I am starving hungry!!! How can that be? So now I'm not sure what to eat for breakfast? What should I eta when I feel so sick????

toast maybe......if we have any bread left....coffee maybe.....if we have milk

note to self - must go grocery shopping - cupboards are bare! We meant to go last night while we were in town but we went out for dinner instead and kind of forgot lol!

Ok too much to do today so I'm switching off and getting going. Have a great day everyone!

more of the summer fun......

Some more pictures of our afternoon yesterday..........

summer fun

The children playing outside yesterday.......including a shot with all five of them in!!!! 3 on the trampoline, Laurie on his bike and Sam at the front :)

new babies, farmers markets and peppercorn steak :)

Last night turned out really nice......Lloyd was late home from work but got home in time to whisk me out of here and into town. We walked around the farmers market...I wanted to get some more of the Red pepper and walnut dip but they didn't have any....... :( but we did run into Br and G there and stood chatting for a while. Br told me that F had a baby girl last week.....F lives in our old house......I'm so happy for them as I know how much this baby is wanted! They wanted the bigger house mainly so they could have another baby :)

Lloyd then decided he was really hungry so we went to Joey Tomatoes for dinner......it wasn't too busy so we went straight in :) Lloyd had the peppercorn steak and I had the rotisserie chicken with their amazing mash....and gorgeous asparagus......

After that we picked up coffees from Timmys and headed home just before the storm arrived....it was kind of following us down the highway :)

We then had an early night and fell asleep with the windows wide open listening to the rain......it was lovely!

I didn't sleep very well though as I woke up at 12:30 with awful heartburn....couldn't get rid of it so found myself sat in the window looking out at the amazing starry night for much of the early hours........the storm had blown over and the skies were so clear...without a moon the stars were incredible!

This morning I am feeling horribly sick again :( I thought the bug had passed but I guess not....so now I'm not sure what to do about today......we had a lot planned. But with lack of sleep and feeling sick...and Laurie was ill again last night...so I'm not sure......

Lloyd went into work late and dropped Chris at work for me....so now I just have to figure out our day...see what the children want to do.......it's supposed to be the last hot day until next week (yay cool weather and rain on the way at last) so maybe we should go out and do something...I guess it depends how I feel later......

I'm glad I felt ok last night anyway.....I got to have an evening out after all and had a good time with Lloyd......so I don't mind feeling sick again now........in fact feeling sick doesn't bother me much because compared to a migraine it's nothing!

Abby enjoying the sunshine

Abigails hair hasn't been brushed today yet she refuses to have a bad hair day lol.....even without doing her hair she still somehow manages to be stunningly beautiful :)
Oh to be 4
:)

Stuck at home

So I have been stuck at home since we got back yesterday at 1pm......it's so funny how being 'stuck' at home is soooo different to being at home through choice.......

I felt really sick all evening yesterday and most of the night....today I am left with no appetite .....only now at 4pm feeling hungry at last. Laurie also felt ill yesterday and this morning.......

Sam had weird spots this morning that started on his abdomen and then he got them on his legs......they seem to be going now thankfully.........

Lloyd is going to be home later from work today so I am hoping he is home in time that we can salvage part of the evening by doing something........

We have been sat outside this afternoon.........the children have been having a big water fight with water balloons and guns, playing with bubbles, on the trampoline etc etc

Even though I had no appetite this morning I was bored, so while Susie was using her easy bake oven, I made fudge.....I used a recipe from the web as I can't find my tried and trusted recipe......but it didn't work right and instead I ended up with vanilla-raisin caramel squares....the kids love them :)

Lloyd just sent me the funniest email.......he'll probably kill me for posting this here (sorry Lloyd) he emailed me to say he needs to fart really badly but he's in the middle of a meeting and can't!!! Too funny!

Amber and Rosies breeder sent me pictures of her wedding day today...she looked so beautiful and happy! The most beautiful wedding on the beach in Maui. They seem like such a great couple!

I haven't done much today............thankfully tomorrow is supposed to be busy busy busy :) I just hope we are all well enough to enjoy it!

I had to cancel on Ch. for A Taste of Edmonton..........I guess I am just not meant to make it there.............it looked really good on Global this morning too.........

Onwards and upwards..... ;)

Some people are so filled with insecurities and jealousy and anger...it's so sad.........I feel so sorry for them. If only they could learn to move forward and be happy.

Because I love you......

Susannah has been using her Easy Bake oven this morning and presented me with this lemon cake because she loves me :)

Sorry but my children bore me............

I'm not sure why this 'mother' (in the biological term) has TWO children........

"They know better than to expect me to sit through a cricket match, and they've completely given up on expecting me to spend school holidays taking them to museums or enjoying the latest cinema block-boster alongside them. (I spent two hours texting friends throughout a screening of Pirates Of The Caribbean the other day). "

A quote from the above article.

Sophie Tolstoy

"I am a source of satisfaction to him, a nurse, a piece of furniture, a woman - nothing more”

I have been reading about Sophie (Sonya) Tolstoy........and how Leo Tolstoy her husband requested that the couple keep diaries and share them with each other....some of her writings are so sad........she wanted to be so much more to her husband than 'just' a wife and mother.....she had 16 children....three of whom died.........

So I have been reading excerpts from her diaries and I find that she would have fitted in perfectly on todays forums like LP and hunnybeez....it seems many marriages (and the lives of women) haven't changed at all in the almost 150 years since she married Leo.......

I find this couple fascinating...........

Another Champion in the family!!

Just want to brag about Ambers brother Hemi:

"The 2005 results are in and Hemi's very exciting puppy career resulted in him being awarded 2005's #1 Golden Retriever Puppy in Alberta (GRCAB) as well as 2005's #1 Golden Retriever Puppy in Canada (GRCC)!!!!!!"

:) Oh and yes thats Laurence at the top of the page with Amber!!!

Whenever Amber is all scruffy and dirty I always ask her what her mother and brother, the champions, would think of her!!!!! ;) she can't let the side down!!! lol!

And Hemi is also Rosies big brother...older by 18 months.

A snake in the mail!!!
