Tv star!

My friend Lori was on tv again this morning! She was on Global Breakfast tv with her store Baby and Beyond.....her Daughter Jenna (a friend of Susie and Abby) was on there too as the schools are closed in Sherwood Park. Abigail was thrilled to see her friend on tv :) Lori, as always, looked wonderful!

Bizarre cat story

news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/dorset/7092301.stm

How weird! Nice owner though because I would NOT be getting up on weekends and school holidays to go and get the damn cat!

It must be the weather!

I want to quilt...every winter I pick up my quilting and get to work on various projects...but although I have wanted to sew the last few days, I can NOT find my quilting! I have a special quilting bag that holds my current project, but I can't find it anywhere! it's driving me crazy! If I don't find it in the next couple of days, I am off to the quilting store in town to buy some more fat quarters to start a new project!

I do all my quilting and piecing by hand....mainly using the English Paper Piecing method...for me its definitely a winter craft.....and as it has felt wintery lately...with the snow last week and the winds yesterday, I have been really in the mood to pick up where I left it in the Spring!

Sunday drivers!

A spent much of Sunday afternoon out on her quad enjoying the good weather!

After all that fresh air we headed off to the cinema to see Bee Movie.....I am planning to create a lapbook about Honey Bees this week.....I have all the things we need pulled together already and it will go well with our trip to the Honey Bee Centre last month.

Still flowering...

My Honeysuckle is still flowering despite it being mid November!

Pictures from Sunday....

How will you die?

In the movie Big Fish, there is a witch who wears an eye patch. In her artificial eye, you can see your own death....when Edward looks into the eye and sees his death, he feels that knowing what happens is very releasing...almost reassuring.

So this got me thinking. If you could see how/ when you would die....would you look? Would you like to know? Would you find it helpful to know? Or do you prefer not to know?

I guess what made me think on this, was that people who are given a short time to live....often find this freeing - it enables them to say all those things they want to say to those around them...it enables them to do what they want to do or need to do for closure.....

I thought it was an interesting thought anyway.

Kiva!!!

www.kiva.org/

I just want to point this amazing charity out to any of you who have not seen it! I saw it on Patsy's Ponderings this weekend and I had never heard of it before! What a WONDERFUL charity!!! It's like giving money to help, without actually giving it away! What a wonderful way to help people in developing countries to help themselves - and as business owners ourselves, its great to help other aspiring businesses!!!

Please considering lending money to one of these worthwhile businesses!

Emails...

I am in the midst of writing emails to Kathy, Charlynn and Heather.......they are halfway through and in drafts - hopefully I will have a chance to finish them today!

I just didn't want you to think I was ignoring you!

BBC News worth reading!

news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/7090011.stm an interesting article on ADHD and how unnecessary Ritalin (etc) really is....

Bee Movie ratings :)

Just wonderful!

WE just had the NICEST weekend :) I love three day weekends :) REALLY didn't want Lloyd to go back to work today :( it was so nice having him home....

On Sunday afternoon, I took the girls out on the quads for a while - it was fun - I rode on Lloyds big 4 x 4 quad which isn't so easy to ride lol and iisn't as nippy as mine, but was fun anyway! Once Jeff had left, we went to the movies to see Bee Movie! BRILLIANT!!! Such a GREAT movie :) I have a soft spot for bees anyway, but this movie was just so great! Totally recommend it! It was great how they showed what would happen if there were no bees or if the bees stopped making honey...

After the movie we picked Laurie up from his friends home and then came home and all had pancakes for supper :) Yummy apple cinnamon pancakes :) you just beat a tub of applesauce and some cinnamon into the pancake batter before cooking :)

We actually went up to bed at 8pm! We sat in bed and watched Big Fish on tv.....its one of Lloyds favourite movies....I must have fallen asleep before the end!

Monday Lloyd and the children had the day off for the Remembrance Day holiday. We went out for breakfast and drove along the new Anthony Henday Hwy to South Ed Common to pick up the cushions for the sofa...couldn't believe houw FAST the Henday is to go you anywhere! Fab! By the way if any of you want to know who the new highway is named after, you can look here: www.ucalgary.ca/applied_history/tutor/calgary/henday.html

After that we drove up to the Wild Bird General store www.wildbirdgeneralstore.ca to get a new bird feeder and some bird food for the Jays and woodpeckers that are still around......its such a great store....it has everything you could possibly want or need for looking after the birds in your garden! The store owner scared Sam so he gave him a rubber bat to take home as a sorry gift lol! All he had done was ask Sam his name ;)

We came home and then all curled up and watched Ratatouille. We had all seen it before except Lloyd, but its such a great movie, and we pulled out the Halloween candy box and had some of that (we put all the candy together after Halloween and it goes in a big box then we bring it out when we watch a family movie or if we have family games night)

After Ratatouille, Lloyd and I made dinner together - honey nustard chicken with mashed potato, asparagus, broccoli and cauliflower. I cooked the cauliflower in the casserole dish with the chicken and the sauce, so it tasted as delicious as the chicken!

My honey and mustard sauce is really easy - its just mayonaise, wholegrain mustard, a little honey and a little apple cider vinegar all stirred up and poured over the chicken breasts....YUM!We were in bed well before 9pm last night again....I wanted to finish reading my book on honey bees and Lloyd was watching something on tv and so it was just cozier being upstairs...

So today is Tuesday and it feels like a Monday. Laurence is home from school not well.....and at 11am I had a phone call to say Susannah wasn't well either...so I drove over to get her...they have been sat watching Tuck Everlasting.

Windstorms blew into Alberta yesterday and Edmonton had 90km an hour winds last night and this morning....trees are down and power is out in parts of the city...we didn't get it too badly at all though....Lloyds bbq cover blew across the yard but thats about it! It was very loud during the night though!

Amazingly though, the Chickadees are still flying to and from the bird feeders! Its amazing that they don't get blown away! They are just like Great Tits in the UK but a different bird...

My friend Samantha was due to go on her balloon ride this morning but no doubt it has been postponed again! Either that or she has been blown to the other side of Canada ;)

No other news for now...that I can think of! HAVE A GREAT WEEK EVERYONE!

Bird catcher!!!!

Jasper sat on the kitchen window sill for a while this morning watching the birds on the feeder....as they fed Jasper was wriggling as if ready to pounce...would've been quite funny if he had really tried to pounce through the glass :)

Sunday...

This morning after a lazy start, Lloyd and I headed into Home Depot for a door handle...we stopped for coffee too which was nice :)

Now we are home and I am scrapbooking and catching up with blogs while Lloyd potters about....Jeff is coming over around 2pm and then we are going to see the Bee Movie....Lloyd is coming with us with Sam which is so great :) originally it was going to be me and the girls, but Sam wants to see it too so we are all going to go - Laurie is still at his friends house and Chris is off to his friend Max's home for the afternoon...

Tomorrow Lloyd and the children are off of work for the Remembrance Day holiday...not sure what our plans are though.....

Thanks Tess for this test!

I think this is fairly accurate for me! These quizzes are fun!
