Cake for tomorrow......

Not a great picture, as my flash is charging.....but this is the cake we have for tomorrows birthday party! I am really pleased with it! I love that they co-ordinated the icing with the photograph of Susie!

The lady that got the cake for me told me that she thought Susannah was soooooo beautiful :) I have to agree - and of course, she gets it all from her Mother ;)

And I'm sure my Mom will agree that we get our beauty from her ;) lol!

Happy Birthday Samantha!!!

Today is my wonderful friend, Samanthas, 41st birthday!!!!

Have a wonderful day Samantha! You are such a wonderfully warm person and I count myself so lucky to be able to call you my friend :)

Hopefully we can hook up one night this week to CELEBRATE!!!!!! :)

Thinking of you!

Lots of love
Jane

ps. we really need to get you over here for a photo session - I need pictures of you where you aren't dressed up as a scarecrow or a clown ;)

An early Valentine....

Wow I was so surprised to look on Jennifers blog and see that Sams Valentine card arrived.....we only posted it Thursday lunchtime! I thought it would arrive next week! Well, anyway, now I know it has arrived safely, I can post a picture of the card (not the treat bag as a few of those have to arrive at certain places).

If you visit Soleils blog (link to right) you can see some pictures of beautiful Soleil with her card :)

What is your real age????

www.realage.com/

Take the test and see how your 'real age' compares to your calendar age!!

My calendar age is 36.1 but my Real Age is 32.7

I was quite pleased with that - although it doesn't compare to ultra healthy Heather lol - thank you Heather - I found this link on your blog!

My amazing Ox....

Lloyd is an Ox and this seems to reflect him perfectly!!!

The Ox of Chinese Astrology is no bull in a china shop. Steadfast and solid, this powerful Sign is a born leader, being quite dependable and possessing an innate ability to achieve great things. Oxen tend to be plodding and methodical; they approach projects in the step-by-step manner that serves them best, and they never lose sight of their goal. They are tireless workers who are detail-oriented and believe in doing things right the first time.

The world may perceive Oxen as being far too serious or incapable of loosening up. This sturdy sort is less than social by nature and tends to become introverted in a crowd. To make things worse, they can't be bothered with what other people think and prefer to do what makes them feel best. Behind that calm facade, though, lives an Ox who can feel hurt, lonely and unable to connect with others. Friends and family are a great source of comfort to this beast, even if they don't always understand what makes the Ox tick. As a lover, friend, family member or housemate, the Ox makes a wonderfully strong, tender and affectionate companion who is protective and always reliable.

Out in the world, though, Oxen tend to be stubborn, dogmatic, my-way-or-the-highway kind of people who have no concept of when to back down. Oxen don't care to be pushed, especially since they think they're the good guys of the Chinese Zodiac. There is some truth to that theory, since the Ox is smart, trustworthy, caring and honorable. If you need honest, steady and unbiased advice, call on the Ox.

A good lesson for mighty Oxen is to strive to overcome a judgmental nature that keeps them from getting close to others. If they can learn to value their own good qualities, they'll have more room in their hearts to invite others in.

Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Happy Chinese New Year to our wonderful friend and amazing waitress, Grace. Grace is in Hong Kong right now celebrating the new year with her family.

Welcome to the year of the rat!

In my thoughts..

news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7231470.stm

Such sad news out of the US this week...it seems tornadoes are a constant event now...there used to be 'seasons' for these things didn't there? Now it seems to be a year long thing...I remember being so shocked last year when the tornadoes went over Orlando while we were there. It just didn't seem like something that would happen in February.

I read 'Patsy's Ponderings regularly and some of her pictures of tornadoes are amazing. Sad but amazing.

Have to laugh...

I just ahve to laugh...there is a post at LP about why so much attention is on Calgary during these provincial elections....

So I make a joke..actually I was being sarcastic because its kind of true lol...that Calgary is the capital city of Alberta...in the same way Toronto is the capital city of Canada.....(ie Toronto seems to think its the centre of the #$%*&$ universe!!! lol

I added lots of winks so they'd know I was joking - and the girl who posted the original question 'got it' ...but now two people have posted to 'inform me' that no actually Edmonton is the capital city of Alberta...

OMG too funny! Thank you for enlightening me lol ;)

Calm....

S the day improved drastically and the afternoon has actually been really nice...I cleaned and tidied the house....did some laundry...and then we got into the car and went down to pick up the girls from the bus....

We all headed in to town to the mall and I treated the children to a magazine each in Chapters before going to Grandma Lees for cake and slushies (jello and choccy milk for me, muffin and choccy milk for Sam)

Then we ran in to Safeway for a few supplies - the girls chose pizza and salad for dinner tonight which is PERFECT because its fast and easy.

Laurence didn't come home from school because he's sleeping over at his friends house. Chris didn't come home from school because he is in a basketball match in SP today and will be home later.

Lloyd is staying a little later at work to say goodbye to one of the directors that is leaving today...he didn't go to the leaving party last night so wanted to take the guy out for a few drinks I think.

So thats my day....my evening should be quiet and lazy...Lloyds gong to rub some deep heat treatment stuff into my back when he gets home and hopefully the pain will be gone tomorrow....

Another sunset for you...

I Love Winter....
