Plaster of Paris hand print!

Today we used Plaster of Paris to make a print of A's hand in a heart shaped plaque. It was good messy fun! Tomorrow we get to paint the finished plaque and then I will take a picture of the end result!

Droplets...

I've been playing around with my camera this afternoon...these two are pictures of the condensation thats built up inside the seedling tray from the latest planting session....

Repotting....

Our seedlings have done really well - so well that we had to re-pot our pumpkins as they got so big!

Build a Bear

Last week A went to Build a Bear as a birthday treat. She chose a dog and named her 'I Love You Puppy'. In the store you get to help build your toy, choose a sound to go inside, kiss the heart and fill the toy and then create the adoption certificate etc. When you get home you can create a world for your pet online similar to Webkinz.

Spooky Spice!

A filled a bowl with water and sprinkled pepper on the top! Then she dipped her finger into the centre of the bowl. Alacazam! The pepper moves to the side of the bowl when A puts her finger in.....why???????

A. secretly has a little soap on her finger! The water molecules stick together until the soap breaks the bond. Then the water molecules on the side pull harder, taking the pepper along!

Open House

www.victoria-school.ca/

Lloyd and Chris have gone into Edmonton tonight to attend an open house at the Victoria School for the Performing Arts.....it's one of the schools Chris is considering for high school next year.

They have a lot of courses such as directing, audio, writing for the stage and screen, animation, video, photography etc etc etc - all of which will help him get into the film school of his choice.

The school is downtown so he could go in with Lloyd each day......pro's and cons....as with every school I guess.....but he's kind of determined about his career so I guess we'll see how the open house goes.

Chris has spent the last few weeks corresponding with a guy in Montreal about a film festival there - he's entering one of his films into a contest....and he's making a film during Spring Break that involves explosives (?????)

He's booked into a Summer Camp for teen movie makers this Summer too....so this high school could be ideal......

So long as he doesn't start wearing leg warmers and singing FAME on my kitchen table all will be well ;)

splish splash.....

Enjoying jumping in the puddles.....

Mud puddles....

Mud glorious mud........Sam enjoying the mud in his moose-covered welly boots. we have had some gorgeous weather lately and the snow has been melting away very fast!

Melting fast...

We can see grass again :)

As happy as a pig in shit........

I love this picture! Charlie caught sleeping in the sunshine yesterday - next to an old can of something or other....and piles of pig shit!!! LOVELY (not!!!) But so funny!!! She's smiling and enjoying the gorgeous weather! The snow is melting fast and she is so happy :) Now the snow is melting we can soon get the yard tidied up :)

Pigs are actually very clean animals and she keeps her bed very clean - all winter long she has left her bed to come outside to this one spot to poop....by the lilac tree (which will be one very health fertilized lilac tree this year lol) It was just obviously the warmest place to sleep yesterday ;)

Sweet million Tomato....

We have quite a few different tomato plants growing this year...all different sizes....not all for me to keep and all for different recipes and reasons....

Arcadia Broccoli...

Our tray of broccoli....

Time to repot....

Our little seedlings were getting too big for their first stage pots so we re-potted some of them today - these were our 'Atlantic Giant pumpkins'.....they were root bound and in fact their roots had grown out of their pots in several cases - amazing in just a week!

Lloyd doing his best Dragon from Treehouse impression ;)

Today we also planted more tomatoes, and some asparagus which won't harvest until next year.

jennifer - any advice?????????

Bat house plans

The most successful bat houses in Alberta are medium sized bat houses and here you can find free house plans of all sizes:

But if you look online there are many websites that you can find house plans - you can also find them in hardware stores such as Peaveymart and Lee Valley Tools.
