Easter Saturday...

Well, my day started amazingly well, as I hunted through my closet for a small bag to use for the day - I found my old little black one from Vegas, and inside was $85!!!!!  :)  Woooot!!!  :)  Score!!!  So that is Easter covered :) It was just what I needed :)

Today was a lovely day!

Laurence decided to stay home and play his computer games online - he doesn't actually do that very often, so it was nice for him to relax and have the house to himself.

I took the younger three to the Easter Extravaganza at the Telus World of Science.  We have annual membership there as a family, so it doesn't cost us anything to get in.  Today they had all kinds of events for Easter happening - including an egg hunt - where you had to hunt for plastic eggs throughout the galleries and exchange them for chocolate eggs later on!!  In one section you had to 'earn' them by doing activities on the sports equipment :)

Susannah and Abby had to do a wheelchair sprint to win their eggs :

Sam had to climb the wall to get an egg:

The eggs were all delicious Purdy's eggs, and they were VERY generous with them :)

Another great activity at the science centre today was designing  a 'vehicle' to transport an egg safely down two stories without having it break!  You could use a variety of things from sticks, tape, balloons, bags , straws, string etc etc.....

Then we held them over the balcony and watched them fall two stories and a guy at the bottom opened them up to check on the egg and see if it was broken or not :)

Abigails cracked, but Sams didn't, so Sam DID IT!!!!  Yay!!

After that we went in the star theatre and watched a movie on  Molecules and atoms :)  We had seen it before but it was one we all enjoy :)

While at the science centre we also watched a show called Fire and Fury.  Abigail even went up as a volunteer to help at one point AND she got to name the gummy bear that they set fire to at the end :)

It was a show full of bangs and explosions and big flames and was really interesting!!
We all really enjoyed it!!

And yet another highlight of our Easter trip to the science centre, was meeting the little cornsnake:

Both girls have decided that now want snakes as pets :)

Hmmmm I think I could handle that - I like snakes :)

All in all, despite the science centre being busier than I have EVER seen it...I have to say that we had a fantastic day there - they really did put on a great Easter festival and exhibit and I am sooooo glad we went :)  The kids al had a great time AND learned something.  The staff were FANTASTIC!!!

And it was great fun :)

Good Friday 2012

We spent our morning relaxing - Abigail did more sewing - she stitched a denim bag out of a pair of shorts as well as a couple of other things.  Sam played outside for a while building a fort with Rosie.  Everyone showered and got cleaned up.  We all headed out to buy rubber boots ready for The Prairie Gardens, which will be VERY muddy :)

I was thrilled to find a game of scrabble for $3 which I have been looking for for AGES!  I need the game pieces to make charms for necklaces to sell!  I am so excited to now have a whole bag of them to experiment with :)

This evening we headed to Katies Crossing, which we had all been looking forward to - yay it is now reopen for their amazing fries and onion rings :)

We were given a bowl of chocolate eggs for the children as part of the meal too, so we took them home and ate them while we watched our movie:  'We Bought A Zoo'.  Such a lovely movie :)

It was a lovely day:

Yummy onion rings:

The sun on the melting snow was quite dazzling!!

I hope you had a lovely Good Friday, wherever you are and whatever you did.

Friday fill-ins....

Happy Easter to all who celebrate it! Here we go!

1. Eggs are a big part of our life right now - farm eggs from Trish (yum) learning to cook all kinds of new ways with eggs (Laurence, Abby....) crafts with eggs, baby chicks, egg hunts, art, chocolate, geodes, .
2. Springtime is awesome! Seeing everyone come out of hibernation...all the activities and parkdays, seeing everyone out on their bikes, being outside more.  Daffodils :)
3. When I look in the mirror,I am pleased with what I see, I think I look young for my age and content - and that is what I am.
4. Good company...laughter....these are the things I like for a special dinner!
5. Currently, I am waiting for Susannah to get out of the shower so that I can get in, so that we can finally head out for the day!! Abby has had her shower already....
6. I am looking forward to playing the new Easter games on Sunday.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to our Evening out, tomorrow my plans include the Easter fun at Telus World of Science and Sunday, I want to enjoy family fun at home! Then on Monday we are off to The Prairie Gardens to splodge in the mud and enjoy the Easter fun there :)  A whole weekend of Easter enjoyment :)  I love Easter!!!

Snow day!! April 2012

Abby has been very creative!  I chose a ton of library books for her while she was in a class last week, and she sat and went through them today and found a craft she liked - turning old gloves and socks in to soft toys.  Her sewing skils are coming on really well - as is her imagination.  I love what she made - she then created one for Sam too for Easter :)

Cuddles and smiles and playing and reading and LOTS of love with my Sammy boy this morning.  He has also been outside building a fort and playing in his room...He's had a fun day all round:

My Rosie Posie isn't too impressed with all the cold and snow, BUT she did have fun outside chasing the snowballs Sam threw for her :)

Sam playing with his collection of transformers.  Today was very much a pj day after all the cancellations we had because of the bad weather and snow storm:

My Mirror wall in my bedroom:

Saw this on FB and thought it was great :

Been thinking about a certain someone...and wondering..

sigh......

Winter storm in Spring...

We woke to a Winter Wonderland again today, which scuppered all our plans.  Buses were cancelled, classes were cancelled, swimming was cancelled.  Brian couldn't get to work on his first attempt, and on his second attempt there was a tree across the driveway which was a BIG sign to say DO NOT GO!
And then Millennium Place was closed down because of a power outage anyway.

So it seems all in all our day totally not meant to be!  My friend saw 20 cars in the ditch on the Henday - the slushy snow was just sucking the cars in to the ditch!!

Sam enjoyed seeing the magical snow out of the window - because yesterday we had NONE - and today we have so much again:

So pretty.  I am glad we were organized and stocked up yesterday with what we needed for the next couple of days - it should melt fast - and even if we need our rubber boots/ welly boots for a few of our activities this Easter, it should be fine!!!  :)  We have a whole weekend of Easter fun planned out!  Can't wait - it's my favourite holiday!  Laurence and I stopped off last night and got everything ready :)

Fun fun fun!!! So - it might not look like Spring outside, but it sure does feel like it inside our home :)

Have a wonderful long Easter weekend everyone!!

Hump day!!

I started a new art journaling class today for children - this series is called 'Bring on the colour' and is aimed at adding some colour to our loves after a winter of brown and white for the most part...It was an interesting class, mainly for the fact that, it consisted of ALL boys!!  Now, I've had boys in my classes before, but they have always been the minority!  So I was surprised to have a class JUST of boys!!  Abigail voted to stay out of this class, but one of the Moms decided to join in and do her own journal along with us, and it ended up being a lovely class!  We started by taking a picture of each student for their page...and then they worked on surrounding that picture with embellishments, paints, pictures, designs etc in their favourite colour...I tried to get them to attempt new techniques with the paints and inks and they each got to use the heat gun,  Before the end they each made a start on the cover of their journal.

I always love seeing how different each page and each journal looks!

I can't wait to see how the journals transform over the next four weeks!

After class, we had some lunch, and then packed up and headed into town.  First stop was the library!  Sam and Abby worked really hard (Sam especially) and read 5 books through Spring Break, so they got a coupon for a FREE small pizza of their choice from Panago :)

They are so proud!!!

Then off to Broadmoor Lake to meet up with the local homeschoolers for the weekly park day - a day early to beat the weather - as they forecast a snowstorm tomorrow!  The kids had a great time....we had a nice turn out of friends and everyone had a great time.

Laurence showed up at around 2:30 as it was early-out.   He had a job interview this afternoon.  He sat and chatted with us all for a while and then we drove Sam and Abby home to Susannah, before heading in to town for his job interview...he did great at the interview and starts the job next week :)

On the way home we stopped in at Walmart to pick up all the treats and supplies we will need for this weekend just in case the weather is really bad.  We are all set for Easter now :)

Tonight we had fish for supper and the children chose sweet potato fries and mixed vegetables - I am not keen on sweet potato fries but they wanted them.

Tonight I did some Easter crafts with Abby - using inks to do some thumb and finger prints and turn them in to Easter chick etc....then I did reading with Sam and watched Finding Nemo cuddled up with Sam.  The girls played so nicely in Susannah's room, all giggling and chatting together :)  Abby did bake cookies this evening, which made everyone happy :)  Chocolate chip cookies MMmmmmmm :)

It has been a lovely day.

Our Tuesday....

Our day started off with reading two Easter stories:

And coming to terms with the fact that my bedside table is a real mess
and desperately needs sorting out!

I got online to a nagging message from my friend Trish.....who seems to think I should make the first move when it comes to a guy I like.  I think she thinks I should have been with him all along instead of chasing after hopeless idiots elsewhere...

Abby went on a playdate today in the North end of the city, and so we had a bit of a drive around....because of my new medications I can't drive, so Laurence kindly drove for me.  I was able to snap a few interesting sights out of the window.  Like the Worlds Largest baseball Bat:

We stopped at Lumberjacks for lunch and I coloured Sams colouring page:

Then to fill in time, and as we have annual membership, we figured we would make the most of it and go tot he science centre for a few hours.  It was lovely and quiet there thankfully.  In fact the lady on the desk smiled and said 'the class there was just leaving so it is about to be even quieter'  :)
Perfect :)

We checked out the new exhibit on health and fitness and the body:

Then spent the rest of the time in the Discovery Zone, playing with water, bricks and role-playing in the airplane:

Laurence and Sam built a plane together:

And Laurence tried out the songs on the rainbow cloud piano:

I had to play Sir crew and serve the pilots with their drinks....sigh.....

But the pilot DID also have to refuel :

Afterwards we went to pick Abby up from her playdate and she had had a fabulous time - they had made potions and Abigails was 'Unicorn Pee'...but at least it smelt good :)  it was all glittery and perfumery and had little bits in it and herbs :)

All in all a great day for a everyone I think :)

Tomorrow I start my new round of art journaling classes for children called 'Bring on the Colour' and I really looking forward to that!!!  :)

Then park day with friends in the afternoon - but they forecast a winter storm so I am hoping that the park day is still able to go ahead!!!

Sam is loving his phonics and reading videos we are using from the library - we keep changing them each day and he is doing so well!  I am so proud!  We MUST remember to take their pizza slices tomorrow to get their free pizza's!!

So funny..and yet soooo true!! :)
