Afternoon at the Legislature Grounds

We picked Susannah's friend S up, and drove to the Legislature Grounds for a walk.  It was a lovely sunny and warm day.  Beautiful.

The girls had fun playing in the fountains on the stepping stones:

Churchill Square...

Edmonton Public Library had their 'Inside Out' Festival today - which included food trucks, games, dancing, activities, music - and a big book sale where all books were one or two dollars -
I picked up a few books for Abigail and a dvd for Sam - and Susannah grabbed a couple of books too.  We saw a flashmob take place too :)

Sad to see the fountains and wading pool all switched off and dried up - no more splashing about until next Summer :(

We watched this guy washing windows:

This building always reminds me of Liverpool lol!

Saturday news....

Today for 29 Faces in September, we were prompted to use a material that we don't normally use - OR draw something we don't normally draw.  So I dug out my pastels and used those to draw todays face.  It was a very quick face as we were going out, but I enjoyed the effects of the pastels!
Sometimes it is good to step out of your comfort zone!!

We had a few things to do today, but we found time to stop off at Starbucks for a pumpkin spice latte each - and a pumpkin spice scone too :)

My beautiful girl.  She barely wears make up and she doesn't dress overly grown up - just jeans and a long sleeved T - and she leaves her hair to dry naturally always - and yet she still looks sooooo OLD :( How did my little girl grow up so fast???

Someone was NOT happy that they spelled her name wrong hahaha:

Friday happenings....

Our plans changed today and we ended up having to run into town for some errands - so we headed to the skateboard park again.  J and her family were there, and my friend T joined us - and then C came and joined us too!  So the kids had a blast there YET AGAIN :)

Weather was incredible - I think it got to 27c at one point!!

One of the things we had to do was take a truck load of 'stuff' to the thrift store, to get it out of the house!  I am being ruthless but it feels good :)

This Jack rabbit was sitting outside the thrift store:

Tonight Susannah and I went in to Chapters as she finished the book she was reading but there are 14 people in front of her for the next one - so we bought it instead!  Then she was thrilled when I told her the movie of the book comes out in 2014 :)

She owed me (lol) so she washed the truck windows when we stopped for gas:

The sunset behind downtown was gorgeous, but we couldn't get a good picture of it sadly:

Laurence had a friend over for the evening and has now headed in to town for the night - he is loving the independence that comes from having his own car :)

Abby and Sam have gone to their Dads for the weekend.  She ran back in before they left and gave me this carrot she had grown there :)

Friday Fill-ins

And...here we go!

1. Sunshine, oh how I love you so.

2.  "Love you too" is the last thing I said.

3. I found a recipe for happiness and it really tasted good!

4. I'm looking forward to moving.

5. Right now I feel contentment.

6. My relationship with my kids makes me smile!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to sleep (after an evening out with Susie), tomorrow my plans include the movies and a visit to the EPL festival and Sunday, I want to go to the Whyte Ave carnival and use the new chocolate fountain fondue with the kids!

My evening!!

Me in green:

Indian food tonight.  Yum:

Sunset on the way home:

Soaking in a bubble bath with a cup of tea:

My sandal broke while we were out - so we had to head home straight after dinner as I couldn't walk lol!  So funny!  Good job it's almost Fall and I won't need them any more!!!  :)

My crazy girl:

Curriculum sale...

Today was the day of our homeschool group 'Tailgate Curriculum Sale'.  We all met up in the parking lot by the playground and swapped, sold, gave away our curriculum and other things that we no longer need.  I picked up 4 French books for Abigail as well as a chocolate fondue fountain :)
Susannah has wanted one of those for soooooo long!  :)
So that is our plan for Sunday night when the kids get home - Chocolate fondue :)

Abigail got a Titanic board game, and Sam got some toy soldiers :)

While we did the sale, all the children played together at the playground and had a blast enjoying the great September weather!!  At 8pm it was still 23c :)

Silly old fool that writes me poems :)

A Dream for just one second

If only to Dream for two

A Dream some times remembered

If only I Dreamed of you...

A Dream of such goodness

Could never be a Dream come true

To sleep & have a Dream

Makes me Dream of you..

Dreaming I am writing

But never to be fooled

My Dreams turn into Daydreams

To that I must thank you..

For today

Outside my window...blue skies and sunshine..wispy clouds. It's going to be a lovely September day - with a forecast high of 24c :)

I am thinking...about what to do tonight while the kids are out.  Maybe a coffee and people watching on Whyte...although we are there on Sunday, so maybe the dog park with Rosie or something...

I am thankful...to Stacey for all the boxes she saved for me.

In the kitchen...Abby is busy making chocolate chip cookies based on the ones she made at French class :)

I am wearing...capris and tshirt

I am creating...a big box of 'stuff' to take to the curriculum sale this afternoon.

I am going...to have to buy more tape for the boxes.  I think I am also going to pack up Sams room first and then use that room to store boxes because it is the biggest room.

I am wondering...if life will ever really slow down.  I love being busy and active and having days crammed full - and even though I talk about 'when life slows down' - I'm not sure I want it to!

I am reading...Shimelles daily pdf's for a class I'm taking.  And books with Sam but thats about all right now.

I am hoping...the good weather stays around for a while :)

I am looking forward to...this weekend as we have quite a bit planned :)

I am learning...how difficult it is to organize field trips that please everyone.  Omg it's such a hassle!  So I am going to just plan field trips for us and then post them and if people come then they come.

Around the house...decluttering - closets, drawers and STUFF :)

I am pondering...why people act the way they act.

One of my favorite things...homeschool get togethers :)

A few plans for the rest of the week:Curriculum sale and park day today.  Busy weekend :)

Wednesday....

Last night I was tagged by an Instagram friend, to post four of my favourite pictures in a collage.
These are the four I picked.  The first is a picture of Sam with his playdoh worm.  It is just sooooo CUTE and I remember it like it was yesterday :)
Next is a picture of Rosie lying in the glow of the Christmas tree - it was just a snapshot but worked so beautifully :)
Then is a picture of Abigail at the library.  She is wearing a cowboy hat and I remember being so proud of her - she loved that hat and didn't care what anyone else thought - she had the confidence to follow her own style!  Love it :)
The next picture is from May 2012 and shows Abby and Sam on a swing at the Millwoods Midway.  We had had a FANTASTIC day - Whyte Ave and then the midway - and we spent the whole day laughing and smiling and having fun.  This picture just sums up the mood of the day :)

We did our faces for today.  This is mine.  I got Abigail and Sam to do male faces today.  Abby also worked ona  mini album she is doing of some of her art journaling work.

We have been learning about the gold rush and gold panning, as well as mining in general in this part of the world - and today we watched 'Call of the Wild'  a movie about the Klondike Gold Rush.  The kids LOVED this movie - it is so sad and so tragic but showed great detail about life in the 19th century for gold miners and pioneers.

Laurence had his hair cut this afternoon -much needed :)

Tonight we drove over to a friends house to pick up a truck load of boxes ready to start packing.  Then we drove in to town to the farmers market.  We walked around the lake with hot chocolates :)

After the farmers market we did some grocery shopping before heading home.  Abby watched the Ballet Shoes movie (Noel Streatfeild) as it is due back tomorrow.  Sam watched his reading dvd one more time too.  I packed a couple of boxes and sorted some stuff out for tomorrow's curriculum sale.

Abby chose teeny tiny mini cupcakes at the farmers market - so pretty:
