Enjoying ther celebrations....................

A few more pictures of the Harvest Gathering......................
Can you spot me on the trailer????

Bobcat fans......................

The highlight of Sams visit was seeing three bobcats..............he's just like his Daddy lol! So funny...I thought the top picture was hilarious with them both stood together admiring the Bobcat ;) Do boys ever grow up?????? I think Lloyd just wanted a little boy so he could get to enjoy Mighty Machines and get excited over diggers again!

The Harvest Gathering................

This afternoon we took our younger three children to the Harvest Gathering at the local garden centre.......it is an annual event (one of the first events we went to when we arrived in Edmonton in 02) and is always in aid of A Safe Place......the local womens shelter...........)

There is corn to eat, coffee/ juice and cookies, colouring, face painting, tractor and trailer rides.....popcorn............and lovely Acapella music.....a quartet that was just wonderful!

Abigail surprised me by pointing to the singers and saying 'they're a quartet!' I would love to say she learnt this from me...her homeschooling 'teacher' but alas no......it was from Ruby......on Max and Ruby ;)

The dark side...............

Try this M&M's game.....how many movies can you find in the picture?????

Mmmmmm cafe latte..............

Oh boy I need this coffee:

Aaaaaah that was good!

Time for another Dad?????:

Reading time...............

Lloyd bought a cd the other day of classical music to listen to while reading......I thought this was hilarious because the only time he ever gets to read is in the bathroom.....so unless we put a stereo in there he won't be listening while reading ;)

This reminded me though that I haven't read a book for weeks...I always have a book 'on the go'...fiction I mean, but the last few weeks have been so busy and I've been preoccupied with getting the new homeschool year off to a flying start...and with our trip......I've been dipping in to non-fiction, homeschooling books and my running book and a few others...but no fiction......

So tonight I plan to go through my bookshelves and picka new book to read....I have quite a few I haven't yet read....I like to be prepared for when I finish a book :) I think I will soak in the bath and get into a new novel!

What are you reading right now??????

Happy Birthday Oliver............

...............for yesterday!!!!!

Yesterday my baby Nephew turned 15!!!!!! FIFTEEN!!!! Where did the time go????? Boy that makes me feel old!!!

Happy Birthday Oliver....we couldn't phone yesterday because the boys didn't get home until after 5pm which is midnight your time......so we called.....and called..............and CALLED today and it was constantly engaged!!!! WHY?????

So Chris was really disappointed not to speak to you and wish you a Happy Birthday.........

But we were thinking of you!!!

We miss you!

Lots of Love Aunty Jane and the gang :)

PS the patriotic red and blue is just for YOU :)

Fall is here..............

So Fall is here. The weather this weekend is gorgeous...it's windy out but its a really warm breeze.........gorgeous blue skies...........I love it! The trees are beautiful............

Next weekend is supposed to be warm too so I think we will do our Fall pictures and also maybe go to the Devonian Gardens again........

Above shows our well with a backdrop of Fall leaves.......and the bottom picture is the pond with the front woods beyond it.............one of our Grouse families ives in this wood......another lives in the woods the other side of our land........the young Grouse were on our driveway yesterday when we returened from picking the boys up......they are so cute.......big now but you can still tell they are babies :)

The girls are back in town.............

Its lovely having my girls home again :) they came with me while I strolled around taking photographs of the Fall colours.

Tha last pictures shows the girls fighting over a stick ;)

Creation.................on a Sunday morning

Sunday morning..............lazy day................I'm not dressed yet......Lloyd and the children are outside cleaning out the chicken coop....nice job :) So I'm hiding in here :) but then I get the nice job of cleaning up after the dogs later......and its been raining a lot this week so it won't be a nice job!

Abigail is painting at the table....roses and clouds with crows..............

Susie is cleaning out the rabbits........the rabbits are running around the garage right now...............

*********

Ok so blogger wouldn't let me post so its now an hour later and I have cleaned up after the dogs, showered and dressed, tidied our room and pottered about and blogger STILL won't let me post grrrrrr

************

trying again!!!!

Snow is black I tell ya!!!!!

Sometimes people come into your life and drive you nuts.....its like it doesn't matter what you say they ALWAYS have to disagree.......even if its quite obvious that you are right..and everyone else agreed with you....

Why are people silly like that?

Its like yesterday I said fresh snow is white and this other person is like 'no it's black!!!' Of course we weren't talking about snow but the topic we were discussing was as black and white as the colour of fresh snow............not that snow is black and white...............

lol can you tell its morning????????????

Tonights sunset

Back to it!!

I have been back on WW Core for two days now.......we went shopping yesterday and stocked up on unprocessed foods and everything else I need to get back on track.

I LOVE core.......I feel so good when I am on core.....I feel healthy, I lose weight, my skin is great, my migraines are reduced and PMS disappears...................

Yet after eating core for several months, I fell off the tracks at Easter and just couldn't seem to get back on......I am struggling to get back on track.....WHY????? I just don't know. Summer for me seems to be all about food and eating out and more food and that 'holiday mood' where you feel its a vacation so you eat whatever you like....................

So now my pantry is stocked with staples and I am slowly coming off the sugar and processed foods...and I know it will be so much better and the way we should all be etaing......unprocessed foods, no added sugar and plenty of low fat or fat free dairy products.

Wish me luck!

Today I had Fiber 1 for breakfast

lunch was Autumn Vegetable soup with rice cakes followed by plums with a yoghurt

dinner was a baked potato with Molly McButter and tuna and a salad of cucumber, carrots and red pepers with cottage cheese.

And I had a Skim Latte from Starbucks this afternoon......instead of driving thru Tims and picking up double doubles and a donut Lloyd went out of his way to go to Chapters and get me a latte.............

The funny thing is that I love core foods, I love vegetables and cous cous and baked potatos and all of that so it isn't hard once I get going.....so wish me luck that this week I can get back on track!

A rant about money.................

Today I am pissed off.......about the cost of things!!! Why are people these days so greedy and money-grabbing????? Its so sad......

I've been told that I 'don't live in the real world' because I don't have to worry about money, about bills or gas prices or what I want to buy in the grocery store.....and thats true...I'm very lucky...but just because we're in a good position financially doesn't mean I want to throw money away. I don't like to waste money...I'm not even keen on shopping......its definitely not somehting I do for 'fun'....ever!!!

But today it is one thing after another..........we looked forward to going to the Prairie Gardens for their Halloween festivities again this year...but they want $45 for a family and because our family is bigger they would charge extra $10 for one of the children (two if they count Sam)..... $45!!!!! to what????walk around a garden centre????????????? Once you are in there you have to pay for the cannon and various other activities.....so that $45 gets you into the crappy corn maze and the petting zoo......stuff some old clothes with straw for a scarecrow.......and sit ona trailer for a ride.............................

Its stupid really because $45 a family will mean many families just won't drive that far to go........if they halved the price then so many more would go and they'd make more money!!!!!

Tomorrow we are going to a harvest celebration with marshmallow roasting, music, trailer rides and more for $1. donation to a charity!!!! So why does the Prairie Garden centre feel they can charge so much for so little extra????????

So even though we can afford things like that I refuse to pay it........I just can't justify it......and I think its unfair on the many families in Edmonton who would love to go but could never afford it.

My older three children had been looking forward to taking part in the homeschooling soccer classes this Fall.....but today we found out it will be $15. per child!!!!! Twice a month! So for me thats $90 a month just for the soccer, Another $6 entry for my younger two to MP.....and that doesn't include entry to MP if the older three want to swim that day or use the gym etc....or snacks or drinks for the day (either taken from home or bought there) and if I had wanted to use the babysittings ervice so I could chat with the other Moms for a while that would cost $5 and if I wanted to swim too........geez you are looking at up to $150 a month.......just because my kids would like to play soccer with friends regularly for fun........

So luckily we have friends who also think its too expensive and we will be meeting them weekly for soccer at MP ...just the entry fee to MP and then they can play as long as they like in the gym!

And things like Girl Guides......when I was little all you needed was the uniform and you paid a little money each week as 'subs'.....but now its like over $100 to join, then you have the uniform to buy and you STILL have to pay every week several dollars AND fundraise and pay for camps.....................it's insane!!!! Where is all this money going?????????????????

Its like the yoga classes the other week.....and someone commented that in the proper yoga studio in towen you can take a weekly class for just over $5. yet here in the crappy little community hall wants $10 per session!!! So that would be $20 a week for me and susie to take a little yoga class in a local community hall!

I just don't get it!

Why is everything so expensive these days????? How do families on low (or even average) salaries get by???????? It makes me really angry that things are so expensive these days...needlessly...there is NO WAY the cost of running the event at Prairie Gardens costs so much they have to charge $45. So why are they so greedy????? I mean you can go to the zoo as a family for the whole day for $20 and it costs a hell of a lot more to run a zoo!!!!!!!

Rant rant rant!!!!!! grrrrrr I hope no one goes to the Prairie Gardens thing because IMO the price is ridiculous........

Me getting blown around.............

Hmmmm so these are the only pictures of me from our week away and Laurie decided to try some arty shots for some weird reasdon so they aren't great lol......and I look puzzled because I'm saying to him 'what are you doing?????'
