Movie reviews...

This last weekend we watched three movies.

Friday nights movie: The Family Stone

This movie was so good - just an easy-to-watch kind of movie about a family coming together for Christmas and dealing with their childrens new relationships...they also have to deal with the fact that the Wife/ Mother is dying of breast cancer....

Sounds depressing but is really a kind of sweet movie about a typical family with grown children at Christmas time.....It did strike a chord with em though as the couple have 5 children. Three boys and two girls. The oldest girl is named Susannah. The oldest Son is JUST like Christopher and they also have a Son much like Laurence and a Daughter much like Abigail - so I guess that means Sam is the gay Son!

Anyway, Christmas is a big thing to the Mom...and she can't imagine not being there for future Christmases....lets just say that by the end I was crying a lot - because Christmas is MY thing.....it's a HUGE thing to me - and the traditions we have to go with it....and I can't imagine not being here to share it with my family.

Saturdays movie - Transformers.

Special effects were good but it just isn't my kind of movie! Lloyd saw it at the movie theatre a few months ago and he and Laurie love it....the rest of us - not so much lol. Typical action movie with trucks that turn into movies....and I'm told the yellow car is cool!

Sundays movie - Eight Below

Such a great movie, such a SAD movie....Lloyd told us all at the start that it's a Disney movie so the dogs will survive and be fine.....Disney movies always have happy endings......HA!!!! Lets just say I was crying through a lot of the movie! We all enjoyed this movie! Its the story of people working in the US base in Antarctica...scientists and cartologists etc and they have to leave the base quickly due to a severe storm (worst in 25 years)...they end up having to leave their 8 sled dogs behind and then find they can't get back to get them.....its a story of the dogs survival and how the dog owners struggle to get back and save them....EXCELLENT.

Off to Kandahar...

My Brother In Law (Clare's DH and Daniel and Oliver (and Isaac''s) Dad, leaves for Afghanistan tomorrow...he's in the Fleet air arm of the Royal Navy and because of staff shortages in the British Army, they have all been trained for places like Afghanistan....

Despite my personal thoughts on the Armed Forces and whether they should actually BE in Afghanistan in the first place, I hope Jack stays safe and well during his time there. Please keep him and my Sisters family in yur thoughts over the coming months.

Luck...

Do you ever wonder why some people have such bad luck all of the time....I don't mean occasional bad luck but REALLY bad luck.....

Is it really bad LUCK....or is it negative thought (going back to The Secret here....) or bad organization? Bad choices? What??????

It just seems that some people are constantly talking about their bad luck.....and I just wonder why that happens.....

A page from today......

Abigail has been busy doing sand art bottles and painting sun catchers, so I decided to get crafty too and did this two page layout of the girls....

Tuesday morning.

Chris is back at school....Laurence is home from school....there is a freezing rain warning in a few places in the area and the possibility of flurries....not sure what our plans are for the day.....Laurence and Abigail are going sledding now...Sam is playing with his bricks beside me on the floor.

I am half asleep - didn't sleep well. Poor Lloyd is depressed today - he had a dream he was driving his burnt orange Lamborghini...then he woke up and there was no Lamborghini in the garage! too funny!

Tomorrow is 'Take your child to work' day....so Chris is going to work with Lloyd for the day....they are meeting Roy for breakfast first thing as he wants to chat with Lloyd before his interview (he will hopefully be working for us from tomorrow) ....and then Chris will attend all of the meetings with Lloyd throughout the day....and then IBM are taking them out for lunch!!!!! So hopefully Chris will see what Lloyd does all day and will see what a real work day is like! Maybe it will give him something to 'aspire' to......

Ok - I really should get dressed and wake up a bit!

Tonights page...

Here is a scrapbook page I worked on this evening - a picture of me and the children taken in September on our annual Fall walk.....

I also did a 4 page layout of The Run for the Cure.....but its literally just pictures stuck on and bits and pieces from race day to embellish it - not worth taking a picture of!

roasting pumpkin seeds

A helped me prepare and roast the pumpkin seeds...we washed them and then sprinkled them with a little salt and roasted them until golden! YUM!

making the most of the snow....

Sledding fun yesterday morning and this afternoon!

Bird watching....

A sat and watched the Chickadees at the feeder for a while today...she does a good impersonation of a Chickadee call! We also took a walk this afternoon and found fresh deer tracks in the snow....

Fire works for Guy Fawkes night!

A creating firework pictures using glue, straws and glitter......

The Chickadees return...

For some reason the Chickadees disappear all summer long.....but when it gets cold they return and stay for the winter......we put the feeders out yesterday and they have been busy eating all the seed all day long!

The Queen and her sausages!

The Queen and I......and Lloyd!!!!

Roller Boogie!!

www.rollerboogie.net/

Easter 1983 School holidays. I was 11. They showed the movie Roller Boogie on tv and I videoed it. I fell in LOVE with that movie....OMG It was sooooo great!!! Everything about it!!! Its a really corny movie about a rich bratty girl from Beverly Hills who falls in love with a poor roller skating obsessed guy who tries to teach her to skate......

Such a GREAT movie - I must have watched it a MILLION times that year.....I had roller boots and spent that summer roller skating about - mainly chasing after Garry Harris over in East Coker, but probably a little with Lloyd too lol!

Anyway...I've always loved that movie and have looked for it on tv but finally I got around to looking online and I found the dvd for sale on Amazon :) So I've ordered it...and now I get to introduce it to Susannah :)

At home day...

We were supposed to be out for the day but Chris is sick so we had to cancel our plans and are at home for the day...he's old enough to be left alone but I don't like leaving them when they are sick...and I don't think he would want me to...even though he said it would be ok.....

So instead, I did the laundry and washed all the floors on the main floor, cleaned my bathroom, played 3 games of word bingo (Abigail won every game!) we read Ping and Madeline....I spoke to CHER and paid for my order which will be sent as soon as FIAR is in stock.....

Abigail and Sam have played playdough and I built a house with Sam from bricks....Chris has been flopped on the sofa watching Greys Anatomy. Amber and Rosie are running about outside enjoying the snow.....

We put the bird feeders up yesterday but I haven't seen a chickadee on them yet.....I love watching the birds from the kitchen window.....he great thing about the new kitchen and sunroom will be all the HUGE windows and that we will be so much closer to the trees.....and I plan to have even more bird feeders up :)

Off to print some Guy Fawkes colouring pages for Abigail!
