Mme. Bumblebee....

When I woke up this morning and sat up in bed I found out I had been sleeping on top of a bumblebee all night! It was dead squashed beneath me!!! It hadn't stung me all night thank goodness but was just squished there thankfully! I have been stung in bed before by them though! I had no clue it was there beneath me all night!

Sure beats a spider!!!

Scent of Summertime....

I just loved this jug they were selling at Ikea the other day - it was the exact kind I had been looking for for AGES!!! A plain white pitcher to put cut flowers in from the garden etc.....something plain and simple. Nothing fancy. It is perfect on my window sill with some cut Lilacs from the garden - and with the window open the breeze coming through makes the whole room smell wonderful!! :)

In my thoughts....

A lady from a scrapbooking website I go to is going through a difficult time - her Sisters little boy was born this weekend and suffered trauma at birth. He is in intensive care and they are praying that he pulls through. Her family and baby James are in my thoughts. If you pray please pray for them, or keep them in your thoughts.

And I already know what Tess will say - "delete, delete, delete" hahahaha but I love this picture :) except urgh when you look close up you can see the wobbly bits under my arms so I SERIOUSLY need to tone up my arms lol! hahahahaha ;) Sigh.....so no one look at that ok ;) just ignore that bit and enjoy me and Tess at last weeks retreat having fun and being silly together :)

Fleurs......

This is the tub that I bought at the yard sale the other week. I can't wait for the pansies to flower properly and really bush out over the edge of the pot. They are really packed in and I bought ones that hadn't really opened much so that there will be lots of flowers opening over the next week or two and then as I dead head there will be lots more to come.....I think they look so pretty against the black and white. Next year the siding on the front of the house will be white too and we will have all new windows there too so it will look lovely there. The porch furniture is all white with black and white cushions so it matches that but with a splash of colour from the mainly purples from the Pansies....

I painted the 'Fleurs' on the side of the tub this evening.

The playing field....

Last night we had a group of 8 deer in our side field (the one that floods that we like to ride the quad bikes through and that is kind of side on to the front yard). It seemed to be mainly Moms and their young and they were all rather skittish and jumping about and playing and having so much fun playing there!! It was wonderful to watch them. Impossible to get a good picture because they didn't stay still for a second - just leaping about and playing and running around!!! Hilarious to see them playing with each other like that and having fun - the only two to stay still were two that stayed way back by the fence looking all timid and quiet. The other six were just having a blast!!! We often see signs that large groups of deer have spent the night in that area or in the little wooded area there or the next open space along where we have walking trails and quad trails, and I wonder if they spent the night there last night. The deer were there playing until dark - after 10pm so maybe we had them spend the night :)

25c totally gorgeous day - not a breeze to be felt - so we packed upa picnic and headed out with books, a ball and a blanket to have a picnic in the woods :)

Caterpillar update!!

We now have two chrysalis's in our jar.....just waiting for them to turn into butterflies/ moths now.....hopefully!!! Sam also studied this at PreK and they read 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' which is one of his favourite books at home and he knows it off by heart. He was able to recite it as they read it to the class :) They made big posters of the butterfly life cycle for him to bring home, which goes with our project really well :)

For Sams show and tell he took a beekeepers veil, a box of comb from the hive, a picture of himself sticking his finger in a frame of honey surrounded by bees, and he took clover honey sticks for all his classmates and teachers so they could take one home to try. They started selling them at the local store the day before!!!! OMG what luck!!! :) His teachers said they were sooooo impressed with his show and tell and that all the children asked questions and he answered them all and he really knew his stuff and that I had obviously involved the children with the bees and taught them all about them! After class the teachers were asking me all about bees and honey etc etc. I think they are so used to the typic al show and tell items that they were pleased to have something a little 'different' and the children were excited to have a treat each to take home!! :) Sam was just happy to get his candy as each child that does show and tell is given a sucker! He has missed his last two show and tells because of being in England and being sick, so we really had to make up for it this time!! :) I think we did :)

So that's our bugs and mini beasts update lol! There has been lots of tadpole catching, frog catching, butterfly catching, beetle identifying, bird spotting, and beasty watching going on here since the snow went and the weather warmed up :) I love Summer :)
