We finally made it to Costco today.....yet again Lloyd was congratulated by the staff for filling our cart so well....we only use one cart but when they finish repacking it at the end it always fills 2 carts and the staff are always amazed at how well Lloyd manages to fill just one cart!!!
Filling a cart is Lloyds talent......and its also his 'thing'...one of those 'things' where I stay out of the way...I don't put things in the cart because it upsets his plans and I daren't touch the bread.....Lloyd doesn't like his bread to be squashed...so I have learnt to stay away.......
Have to say it was so much fun shopping with Lloyd today.....sometimes he drives me nuts when we go shopping but today was a good day and we had a blast!
Since he was 8, Lloyd has wanted a lightsaber.....last year they were a crazy price but this year they were reduced so he treated himself to one after all these years :) Of course the boys think its wonderful! Its another of those 'you have to be male to understand' things I think because to me its a lot of money wasted on something you will never use....but Lloyd is happy and he plans to display it in our bedroom (lucky me huh??????)
So he spoilt himself...which of course meant I could too...so I treated myself to Mitch Alboms new book..........and Sarah McLachlans new CD 'Wintersong'................which we listened to on the way home as we looked out over the snowy covered fields...............it seemed apt.........
Because I have been ill for the last week and was behind in my chores, today I felt much better and had this urge to make up for lost time...so I decluttered the pantry and fridge and the magazine basket..........threw out a ton of stuff................I feel cleansed :)
I would like a couple of days above freezing now though.....just so that I can wash the outside of the windows...they are dirty from the dogs but when it is this cold as soon as you put the cloth to the window it freezes....Lloyd suggested antifreeze from the car....maybe I should try that but I hate the smell................
Albertans....is that how you wash windows in winter???? with antifreeze??????
Last week Lloyd bought a griddle type thing....a flat thing that heats up.......its a George Foreman one...so it makes everything much healthier.....today we had bacon on it for sandwiches and we also made pancakes on it...wow it is just soooooo easy and its big enough to make a LOT of pancakes at once.......which is great for a family our size......so yes Lloyd tried out his latest kitchen gadget today and I think it will get used a lot............
Susannah helped me make dinner tonight......she cooked the garlic veggieballs in a sweet and sour sauce while I prepared stir fried vegetables with cous cous......it was yummy :) we ate around the coffee table watching Finding Nemo which is rare for us as we eat at the table every night in general....
After dinner.......the children had sparklers in the kitchen as a little celebration of bonfire night......not quite the celebration we had planned but they enjoyed it and sparklers were such a big part of bonfire night back home.......
After that the girls showed us their dance that they have practiced today..........it was good...to the Spice Girls :) Sam tried to join in too :)
Now I am off to make a cup of tea and some sandwiches for Lloyds lunch tomorrow.........
Rosie goes to the vets tomorrow to be spayed..............Amber will be lost without her......
Charlie our pig is doing ewll....she is such a character.......we went to the pet store today to look for some suitable toys but I think we need to head to G & E instead......we did buy her a new bed though :)
