SNOW WILL CONTINUE AND BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES BEGINNING OVERNIGHT TONIGHT.
AN INTENSE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM CURRENTLY DEVELOPING OVER MONTANA IS FORECAST TO TRACK NORTHEAST SLOWLY TOWARDS SOUTHERN SASKATCHEWAN. THIS WEATHER SYSTEM WILL BRING SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL AND BLOWING SNOW WITH POOR VISIBILITIES TO PARTS OF NORTHERN ALBERTA FOR TODAY AND MONDAY. PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CONTINUE TODAY IN THE CAPITAL REGIONS, BARRHEAD, SLAVE LAKE AND FORT MCMURRAY REGIONS. SNOW WILL BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES BEGINNING OVERNIGHT TONIGHT AND PERSIST INTO MONDAY NIGHT. BY TUESDAY MORNING A TOTAL OF 20 TO 30 CENTIMETRES OF SNOW CAN BE EXPECTED. LLOYDMINSTER AND ST. PAUL REGIONS WILL BE THE HARDEST HIT WITH HEAVY SNOW DEVELOPING THIS MORNING AND PERSIST INTO MONDAY NIGHT. A TOTAL OF 40 TO 60 CENTIMETRES OF SNOW CAN BE EXPECTED BY TUESDAY MORNING. IN ADDITION AS THE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM MOVES INTO SOUTHERN SASKATCHEWAN TONIGHT STRONG NORTHERLY WINDS WILL DEVELOP ON THE WESTERN EDGE OF THE SYSTEM GENERATING BLIZZARD CONDITIONS IN OPEN AREAS. EASTERN SECTIONS OF THE LEDUC AND FORT SASKATCHEWAN WILL SEE WIDESPREAD POOR VISIBILITIES DUE TO BLOWING SNOW.
