Lloyd has the day off today :) He had to get up and drive Chris into town to get the transit for school, so he picked up a coffee for us both. Sam is now in the bath. The workmen aren't here yet which is a blessing really! It was VERY loud yesterday and the house was shaking a LOT (Check out the home reno blog for more info on THAT).
Kathy if you read this, please know I've been thinking about you and know I owe you an Email and yes I AM avoiding you and YES there is a reason! ;) Picture me smiling and me sticking my tongue out at you now lol! In a fun way...but yes I've been avoiding writing to you for a few weeks and I'll explain soon!
Susannah is singing harmony in Church today in Sherwood Park. Her and one other girl will sing together in front of a HUGE church full of people - she loves choir and her and Cassie are the teachers favourites for solo's and harmonies. She's excited. As is Abigail, as today is her very first time to go to Church with the school. In fact it is probably Abigails VERY first time to go to Church!!!!
Yesterday was a bit of a rollercoaster day! In the morning the workmen told me they would be working in the kitchen putting in a beam. I headed out for the day glad not to be at home for the mess. Sam and I met Val and 2 of her kids at the new indoor playground in SP. Kidz Quarterz. We had a lovely morning there. I wasn't particularly impressed with KQ - its a lot smaller than I was expecting and there were a lot of issues they need to resolve - even things like they want everyone to wear socks yet they have a polished floor that caused Vals youngest one to slip TWICE!!!! Pillars with plastic ties sticking out sharply several inches long at childs eye levels - open electrical sockets at toddler heights near play areas.
The toddler area has basically NOTHING entertaining in it. soft blocks and a couple of balls and is supposed to be for up to age 4. It wouldn't keep Sam happy for long. I don't think the actual play structure would keep Susannah entertained for long either - Vals DD said it was 'small but fun' so I think it would be ok for a while but not as long as at Lets Play which is so much bigger.
Its such a shame that they separated the main play area from the toddler area quite so much and then separated the coffee area where parents would want to sit from the play area too. I understand parents are supposed to supervise their kids but really - we're human too - we ARE allowed an hour off to have a coffee with a friend while our kids play. We don't all have to be f#cking perfect selfless Moms all the time and be in the play structure with our kids the whole time - and you know what???? Our kids don't WANT us with them ALL the time!!! It isn't healthy for them either - its OK for our kids to go off and play in there while we sit and chat. But the place could have designed it better so that the children couldn't just walk straight out the door into a #$%$#^$ parking lot or onto Broadmoor Blvd!!!!! How stupid is THAT??????? I have complaints about Lets Play too, but at least the kids have to walk through the table area to get OUT......and they can't leave the place without their parent!!!
That said, we had a lovely morning, KQ is convenient and Sam had a fun time - its ideal for his age as he's old enough not to wander off now. The coffee was WONDERFUL - although you have to pay for refills :( worth it though - very nice. The fruit and dip was yummy too! I have pictures to add when I'm on the other computer.
Sam had pre-K in the afternoon. They spent the afternoon learning about fire safety - stop, drop and roll!
While he was there I went to the mall and bought the second book in the Twilight series - New Moon, then I headed back to MP and sat with a coffee and read more of Twilight!
After Pre-K we headed home where I found a nightmare occurring!! My kitchen had been taken over - boarded up and a hole in the wall - it was very loud and cold and the house was shaking! I was stressed, couldn't cook dinner and so I retreated to my bedroom, put earplugs in and posted on Facebook and read Twilight until Lloyd came home to calm me down.
I finished Twilight last night then logged on to the authors website and read outtakes from the book - chapters she wrote that never made it into the published book!! I also read how she thought up the book (from a dream she had about Edward and Bella in a meadow) and then stayed up until 1am reading New Moon which is even BETTER than Twilight!!!
Today I am tired but Lloyd is home - we are off to Smittys for brunch. We were supposed to be taking Abigail to the doctors today but the doctor phoned and cancelled as he isn't working today. Thats fine really because Abigail doesn't need to see him - the whole thing makes me mad really because all they need to do is reprint a letter and resend it and they were making us go in and see the doctor for THAT and it seemed pointless - so because HE cancelled this time I got Lloyd to make a fuss and so now hopefully we won't need to take her back in and they will just reprint and resend the letter. Nothing has changed at ALL since her last appointment so there really is no point in wasting everyones time. They only do it because they get money for every patient they see.
Tonight we are taking Laurence and two of his friends to WEM for the evening as his birthday treat. I have to get out of bed now and in the shower......I'm so sleepy......not good.....
