This deer was also admiring the Athabasca Falls...we walked into the woods to get some pictures of it.....luckily it didn't seem to mind and just continued to eat....

This deer was also admiring the Athabasca Falls...we walked into the woods to get some pictures of it.....luckily it didn't seem to mind and just continued to eat....
Athabasca Falls...
On Friday evening after settling into our accommodation, we drove down to Athabasca Falls.....I have been there twice before.....but never in early Summer...I was shocked at how high the water was and how fast....in September the water is much lower as the run-off from the mountains has slowed....and in January the entire waterfall freezes....it looks magical and the ice is a bluey colour......the waterfall was very loud and was magnificent!
The weekend was wonderful...the only frustrating part was getting a speeding ticket on Friday morning...my own silly fault and yes frustrating but I wasn't going to let that spoil the weekend!
We crammed so much into the weekend that we were exhausted when we got back! It was worth it though!

Today is my Moms 66th birthday! Happy Birthday Mom.....
She woke up and opened her gifts (pictures to follow) and then we got dressed and headed to Vals house for coffee and to collect a new little friend (pictures to follow!!!!)
It was so nice to visit Val at her home and meet her Daughters at last...OMG they are so beautiful...and so nice to chat with :) I can't wait for Susie to be K's age :) Abigail got stuck in and played with T while Susie was quite shy for a while...then we turned around and Susie was gone!!! She had gone out on the trampoline with J.....

I had planned to only stay an hour as the phone company was coming out.....so when we got back in the car and saw it was after 1pm I was shocked!!!!!
We were going to head to Whitemud Park for a walk today but by the time we had lunch etc we decided to just walk around here...so we walked to the mail box with Sam instead...its so warm out again...and set to get hotter!
Tonight we are taking Mom out for a birthday meal and then will have cake with the children when we get home...Mom has chosen a Key Lime Cheesecake...which is what Lloyd chose for his birthday too.....

We have power and a phone line again...turns out we were struck by lightning on Sunday night...the phone connection box downstairs is fried...all black.....
We were soooooo lucky...could have been so much worse...none of us even heard lightning...or felt anything...could have been a fire...could have fried the new furnace..could have been a fire...but just a power cut and loss of phone for the day.....VERY lucky!

lazy start to the week..
I've done very little today...threw in some laundry....cleaned out the goldfish bowl...and sorted through 1000 photographs from our weekend....I didn't crawl out of bed until 11am...our power went off this morning and the telephones haven't worked all day...still aren't working.....no idea why.....
I'm making spring rolls at the moment with rice and Thai vegetables...thats dinner and then Lloyd and I are going out for coffee as we have some errands to run.....
If I have a chance later I will add some pictures...but I am up to 97% of my picture allowance with Picasa so it may not let me add many....I have paid for a year of extra space but so far it hasn't added the space to my account.....and its been almost a week :( I'll figure something out I guess......

YES!!!!!!!
We came across this very cute and cuddly teddy bear on our drive up to Maligne lake.....like any stupid tourist I HAD to get as close as possible to get a picture....got within about 8 - 10 yards :) I wanted to bring it home to add to ur menagerie of pets but alas we had no room in the car......
We just got home and I am utterly exhausted...had a FAB few days in the Jasper area....so so many picturs to sort through and add...so I will be boring you silly with endless pictures over the next few days....but for now I want to colapse in the bath and I want to sleep for the next couple of days...I have never driven so far and walked so much and seen so much in my LIFE...I have new found appreciation for all the driving Lloyd does normally...being the driver all weekend was so tiring but I am so proud of myself :)
As we turned the corner onto our road just now my Mom said 'theres your home...isn't it nice to be home?'.....and I had to say...'I don't care about home - I just want to see Lloyd'........I missed him soooo much!

Charlie and Amber cooling off.....
..after our walk on Tuesday...Rosie headed straight for the pond but Amber and Charlie headed to the childrens pools to cool off....

A few pictures from our walk on Tuesday afternoon......Charlie followed us despite the heat and was obviously exhausted and as soon as we got back to the house she collapsed in Sams paddling pool to cool off!!!!
Thursday.............
Today I need to do some laundry and get packed for our weekend away in Jasper...we leave early tomorrow morning......I suggested 6am but Lloyd said it would be better to go after 9am....so we shall see how I feel in the morning....
Mom and I are going into town - she wants to buy some runners and I want to get some shorts and also some candy etc for the kids in the car tomorrow...
After that we are going to Millennium Place to the running track...Mom is going to walk around the track while I run....
I also have to empty the camera cards so they are ready to go tomorrow and charge the camera too.......
Apart from that I plan to have a quiet lazy day....enjoy the coolness of the house as they say it may get to 32c today......
