Saturday ramblings

The frogs are awake and horny ;)  Earlier than normal but last night we heard them croaking for the first time this year :)  Woohoo - they are in the pond and awake from their sleep at the bottom of the cold water in the mud......I love hearing the frogs each Spring!!  If you check back on last year you can listen to the videos of the frogs croaking!!!!

The frogs are awake because it is soooo warm here right now - today it is going to be 24c!!!  YES!!!  24c!!!   and by Wednesday they forecast 25c!!!!!  OMG!!!!!  We will have to put the air conditioning on!!! Woohoo!!!  :)  Here's to Summer :)  I'm loving it!!!  Now of course we could still get a dump of snow before Victoria Day, BUT let's enjoy this while it lasts :)  We're firing up the BBQ tonight  :)

Last night the neighbours dog was over playing with our dogs and then our neighbour dropped by to say hi...then she invited us over after supper to see her little baby and see how he had grown.  So after our pizzas I took Susannah and Abigail over for a little while to see their baby - awwww he has grown so much - chewing on his fists and full of smiles :)  He is so adorable :)  Just the cutest thing :)

Anyway - Today it too nice to waste on the computer, so now I have updated my blog I am off outside to enjoy my day!!

Have a good one everyone!!!

Pizza making...

Last night we made pizza's.  We used a really easy dough that Kara had posted about on her blog.  We doubled the mix so there was enough for everyone to make their own pizza and the boys got make one and a half each.  This was PLENTY for our family of 7!!

We haven't made pizzas before so we didn't make any of the toppings ourselves - I bought a selection of toppings that the children could pick from and they all had great fun preparing their bases from the dough we made and then topping it from all the choices we had!!

The one above is mine!!

It was great fun - the children said they'd like to do this every week - and although we won't be doing it every week, we will definitely do it again very soon!!!  I don't like pizza (I only ate the toppings on mine) I did LOVE the activity itself!!!  A really fun family activity!!

Everyone agreed the pizza was much nicer than bought pizza - and it showed because they all ate their pizzas - much more than normal pizza!!!

Fun!!

Parsnip fries..

These are the yummy PARSNIP FRIES that were mentioned on Oh She Glows yesterday!!  I made them last night to go with our home made pizzas!!  They are oven baked in a peanuty butter and EVOO mix and are DELICIOUS!!  They were quick to disappear and good for you :)

Who looks most like a man?  Susannah on the left of the picture - or Abigail on the right?  They would like to know your thoughts ;)

Stacey asked how I liked the Pumpkin Spice Makes Everything Nice so I thought I'd reply with some pictures!  I made it for a late lunch today!!  I couldn't have it for breakfast, because I have a Green Monster for breakfast and that fills me up each day and keeps me going until early afternoon!  So I've just had this now at 2:30!!  Abigail had some too and loved it!  I couldn't eat the whole bowl myself lol!

I followed the recipe exactly except I topped mine with organic granola with pumpkin seeds and flax seed - and a few chopped up dates for sweetness.  With the bananas and pumpkin in it - and almond milk, it was plenty sweet enough though - LOVELY!!!  If you like oatmeal you will LOVE this :)

This was a really easy, quick recipe and total comfort food - very nutritious too - and as I had pumpkin in this mornings green monster anyway, it was a perfect recipe to use some of it up!!!  Have a go!!

I am totally STUFFED now until we make our pizzas tonight!

Fun at the Science Centre....

Oooooooh!!!

I think I'm going to have a go at making myself a bowl of THIS today!!!!!  I have all the ingredients at hand :)

cold turkey....

I've decided to cut sugar out from my coffee from now on.  As Val will know - I always have sugar in my coffee.  I don't drink pop (cola's etc etc) and I don't drink filter coffee at home (only instant) but my downfall is sugar (or artificial sweeteners).

Since drinking the green monsters and working out though, I've found the sugar far too sweet and felt that drinking artificial sweeteners went against everything good I was doing for my body - and so I decided to cut both from my diet.

So today is day three with no sugar or artificial sweeteners in my coffee and so far I have to say I prefer my coffee without!!  So strange as I've always hated drinking coffee with no sugar.

Mind you - I've stopped drinking coffee when I'm out - I haven't had coffee at Timmys for AGES - I always order water now.  I've cut down the amount of coffee I'm drinking at home because I find with my green monsters it makes me want to drink healthier and want water more....

In the evenings with working out I certainly don't feel like having coffee..

Because I'm not as hungry any more I'm not eating as many snacks so I'm not eating as much sugar that way either - and again in the evenings.

So far so good......

On another bright note....22c is the forecast for today!!  Woohoo!!!  Get outside and enjoy everyone!!!

Friday Fill-ins!!

1. I'd like to be a fly on the wall during a certain something this Summer ;)
2. One of my most favorite romantic memories is when I was pregnant with Abby, Lloyd and I were going out to the movies in Edinburgh.  I was feeling really fat and huge and I told Lloyd that.  He responded by putting his hand so caringly on my tummy and saying "Awww you're not big!  You're just keeping my baby warm".
3. Last night, I had pasta with salad - and I made a new sauce that wasn't a big hit with anyone but me lol - oh well never mind ;) for dinner.
4. Sorry for the picture of the poop and saliva....but I did think it was interesting - I actually think thats a small jar for FIVE WEEKS worth of poop!!
5. Can we start Summer now?
6. One of my worst temptations is spending too long in bedmy comfy bed, good books, writing in my journals and crocheting granny squares is hard to resist!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to making pizzas with the family - especially the home made dough - throwing it about and having fun!!, tomorrow my plans include taking Susannah to her sleepover party and Sunday, I want to collect Susannah from her sleepover party!

Oh to have legs this long!!

LOVED the funny mirrors today - well, at least the ones that made me tall and skinny ;)
