The back side!!! :)
So, this is the back of our house at the moment - but this time next year, it will have a walkout basement (basically they dig into the ground and make it so you can walk outside from the basement/ cellar and can have windows etc in the basement.....on the middle level (currently the ground floor, there will be a kitchen and a sunroom stretching the whole length of the HOUSE (ie not the garage as well) and there will be a deck off of the sunroom that is attached to a wrap around porch that will go right alongside the house and link up with our front porch....
The new roof of the kitchen/ sunroom will be cedar shingles like the rest of the house.
And then the year after (or maybe two years after - we may need a break from reno's) we will be building above the garage - the master bedroom, master bath and closet will be built above the garage with a small deck coming off of the bedroom.
I hope that makes sense....it was kind of exciting taking a walk around the back of our house today and envisioning what it will look like when its finished...
We just have to get through all the chaos and mess for 8 months first :(
Our home in the Fall.....
Challenge 1 layout
The rest of Friday and then it's saturday!
So yesterday we had some bad news....Lloyd has to go to Toronto to work :( It should be seen as good news as when he was called into a meeting with two Directors, we were both worried he was being let go.....
To say I'm pissed off is an understatement!!! But then Lloyd isn't too happy either - and at least Jeffs wife Kendra is probably also pissed off as Jeff is going too......this makes me feel a little better lol!
Lloyd leaves on Thursday I think...or was it Wednesday? I can't remember.
Last night I took part in an online crop at scrappers haven.....it was really good fun! Cori and Tess from LP came and joined us too :)
I won the first challenge - we had to scraplift a layout by another scrapbooker on the website. I created a two page layout about my Mom and Abigail at the park - and I won a RAK - so this means I will get something sent to me in the mail - very exciting :)
It was so much fun at this crop - people were chatting and scrapbooking for hours and posting pictures of their work and then we had to take a picture of ourselves at that moment and post the picture on the site :)
We had no food in the house yesterday because we haven't been shopping in ages, so we all got in the car and headed into town - we planned to go to Pizza Hut for dinner but they were closing!!!!! Friday night at 8pm and they were closing!!! Even for take out! So we tried Boston Pizza and the wait for a table was too long, so then we headed to DQ. Had dinner there and then headed home so I could rejoin the crop!
We got home and could smell gas really strong at the end of our road, so we called Atco and they sent someone out straight away....we could see the flashing lights from their truck from our house so we kept checking if they were still working down there - when I went to sleep at 12:30 they were still there but by 2am they were gone. there is no gas smell this morning so I guess they solved the problem!
This morning I helped Lloyd outside - we picked up all the garbage that had blown about from the old barn, we burnt more wood and I helped the children pack away all of the summer toys into the workshop ready for winter. Val and her family came over..Lloyd got to meet them at long last!!! Lloyd helped her husband and Son load up the trailer with the metal roofing sheets. They said hi to Charlie and we all had coffee....we walked around one of the trails up by Marys land....
After lunch Lloyd and I went to Michaels and got some things I needed for making Christmas cards. One of the girls at SH has created some amazing cards using acetate and stamping on them with white ink - so it gave me the idea of doing the same but with snowflakes on them....I think acetate and acrylic is my latest craze - I bought some acrylic sheets on Thursday to make mini albums from - I started my first one this afternoon!
Then we went to Costco to get the groceries (stopping off for coffee on the way of course)
This afternoon I went for a walk around here and took pictures of the Fall colours etc...I will blog those in a bit.
Tonight we are baking some potatoes in the ashes of the fire outside...then I think I will scrapbook for a while and then Lloyd and I are having a Greys Anatomy marathon - we want to get through series 3 so we can watch series 4 when it airs.....last night we saw the episode where Dennys Dad gives the cheque to Izzy.....it was good :) so far I'm enjoying series 3 :)

My Friday
Laurence is still ill and spending long lengths of time in the bathroom (although have to say this is good as it means he is reading a lot lol!) So he is home from school for the day. He slept most of last night and still isn't eating much as he doesn't feel up to it. I hope no one else gets this. Sharon - I hope you are feeling better now too!!!!
I spent the morning writing letters as I have had a few that I have been procrastinating over.....at the beginning of this week I wrote a to-do list and thankfully I have done much of what was on my list!
Lloyd stayed home for coffee this morning and went in to work for 9am which was nice. Last night was date night and despite Laurie being ill and missing cadets, we still headed out for a date.
We went to Joey's in Sherwood Park and were seated within a couple of minutes (not before sampling a bellini though! Mmmmm it was so good and so yes I got through far more bellini's than I should have! They are soooo good - an alcoholic 'slushy' with rum, peach nectar, raspberry, apple and strawberry flavouring and a frozen slice of peach in it :) ...DELICIOUS!!!! I blame Lloyd for the amount I drank though :)
I ordered the Maple Glazed Salmon and was thrilled when I was told that the seasonal vegetables right now are GOLDEN BEETS!!!! They are incredible!!!!! The salmon and beets come with alfredo linguine which is also wonderful!!!
You can view the Joeys menu here:
www.joeysmedgrill.com/joeysexperience/menus/8
and if you want to know about any of the food, just let me know as I have tried most of the dishes on the menu!!
After Joeys we went to Home Depot to buy some acrylic sheets. I am keen to have a go at making a transparent mini album but can't find an album blank in the stores, so a girl on Scrappers Haven showed pictures of the ones she has made and suggested we buy sheets of acrylic from a hardware store and use those for our albums! So yesterday I bought three big sheets and Lloyd is going t cut them up for me and drill holes for the ring binder parts :) I plan to make one about our Summer.
It poured down with rain when we left Joeys, only a shower but enough to soak us through just getting from the car to Home Depot! Its actually quite fun in Home Depot when you've had too much to drink :)
All in all date night was great fun :) Lloyd was hilarious - especially when he had this little old lady staring at him through part of our meal - she really was staring and she looked so evil it was hilarious :) As always the food and service in there was FAB...I have NEVER had a bad meal or bad service in there and I love that you can watch the chefs at work while you eat :)
Its now 2:45pm and Lloyd should be finishing work in an hour - woohoo its the weekend! I have cinnamon twists in the oven and the house is starting to smell nice. Abigail and Sam are at the table cutting and gluing and 'creating' with feathers.
Tonight Scrappers Haven is having its monthly online crop! So if you are in the mood to scrapbook but can't get out of the house, come and join us!
Today is also the deadline for signing up for Iron Chef 3!!! Michelle - how about you? Cori?????? Its a wonderful contest with a great prize :)
I am hoping to do a couple of the challenges at tonights crop but I think for most of the evening I will be curled up with Lloyd. I want to finish 'My Sisters Keeper' today too! Its a great book - I plan to read a lot of Jodi Picoult novels as I really like her writing style.
I'm tired today but its not quite as bad as it was so I think the effects from withdrawal aren't as bad as they were :)
OMG those cinnamon twists smell so good!

Thursday
I am still so sleepy. Not good! I've also been really horribly anxious all morning which was worrying me a lot - so then I had Lloyd check with his colleague who is a pharmacist, and It turns out that withdrawing from my meds - mainly the Neurontin, can cause anxiety, paranoia and mania. Lol I said to Lloyd I wouldn't mind being manic for a little while but typically I don't get the good symptom lol....
Last night we went into town briefly and filled the truck with gas and went into Tims for coffee. Then we drove around a couple of subdivisions to see what was new....Sherwood Hills is horrible - I really would hate to live somewhere like that. There is only one house I like in there but I wouldn't want it in there - it looks like it would be so much better somewhere like Jasper!
Tonight is date night. Laurie goes to air cadets too so we are dropping him off and then going out somewhere and then picking him up again :) I am looking forward to it as its the first date night in 3 weeks without someone else with us :) and Lloyd is going into work late tomorrow too, so he can have breakfsat with me :) and next week he's booked a morning off to take me out for breakfast :) Nice :)
The truck came today and took away the big bin/ skip we hired. We are one step closer to getting back to normal and having the front yard look tidy again :)
It will be so good to get the concrete base smashed up and lay the new grass and gravel driveway.......it'sd such a mess out there right now...of course we can't do any of that until the new kitchen etc is built or the big trucks will make a mess of it all......
Today is school picture day so the children went off to school in suitable clothing and with their hair done nicely etc - but how they will look by the time the pictures are taken is anyones guess lol!
The weather forecast for the weekend in Jasper is looking crappy and I would really rather postpone until a weekend with dry/ snow weather...I don't mind hiking in snow and cold but I really don't feel up to a miserable weekend in wet weather - I don't have any wet weather gear at all and don't really want to have to buy any. If we were staying in a nice hotel it would be different because we could hang out in the hotel room or go out to a nice restaurant or bar etc but I don't fancy hanging out ina 12 bed dorm because of the crappy weather.....I had hoped for drinking wine by the fire pit, sitting by a lake and laughing and joking.....but none of that is possible in the rain - I won't even be able to take my camera.....I'm really disappointed in the weather.....but if we postponed two weeks then it would be more than likely dry or snow - either of which would be fine.......
I guess if I pull out someone else could drive...it just means they probably wouldn't go another weekend. I'm waiting to hear from Christie but so far it sounds like its only me not kitted out for wet weather. You see (those of you not in AB) it doesn't rain here very often at all - it snows from October - April and in the summer months its only the occasional thunder shower....so you don't really need rain gear.
I'm so tired. I need to go and do some laundry and make some lunch. This morning has been spent reading with Sam, and then he did some drawing and he played with the straws - those ones you build with......oh and he LOVED watching the truck come and pick up the big bin :)

He's back!
Jasper is back - yay! He's ok thankfuly. I wonder where he's been!!!!! Cairo seems glad to have him back :)
Jasper is missing....
Jasper went out last night and come bed time, he didn't come back...Cairo came in and slept in the mudroom but Jasper didn't show up - and I haven't seen him this morning at all :(
Sam and I are about to go for a walk to look around for him and see if we can hear him anywhere.....
Where is he???????
