We call them sand pits back in the UK but in Canada they call them sand boxes.....to me a sand box sounds like something a cat poops in lol so I still find it weird to call it a sand box...I still want to call it a sand pit....like I still want to call it a bucket and spade instead of a shovel and pail ;)
