The Prince of Wales Hotel - but WOW was it ever windy up there - when it was built it was blown off of it's foundation several times - they put it back a couple of times but the third time they just left it as it would have done too much structural damage inside to move it - so nothing in the hotel is level - and the chandelier wobbles on windy days still:
Deer are everywhere. This entire family crossed in front of us - it was lovely as one parent was at the front and one at the rear to make sure the babies were safe:
We were also lucky enough to see a Grizzly Bear along the side of the road...unfortunately the pictures I got of it were useless - it was moving fast and the light was bad as it was dusk.
Playing in Waterton Lake:
Fun at the spray park in Waterton:
We rented a Surry - a four wheeled bike - and the kids had a lot of fun taking turns to drive - they are not allowed on sidewalks, so they were driving on the roads with the traffic - it was so fun to watch - I tooka few pictures and then headed off to have a coffee and some time to myself while they tired themselves out ;)
Prince of Wales hotel:
A mule deer crossing safely on the crosswalk :)
Abigail of course made several friends at the campsite:
The wind and boats made waves on the lake which Sam LOVED:
Up close and personal with a Mule Deer in the playground. Abby didn't touch it but one guy was stroking it and playing with it's ears:
The wind here is so strong that you can lean in to it and it will support you! It's one of the windiest places in Canada :)
Waterton was 'ok' - we did find it a little boring and very much filled with old people. I would say it is the old peoples Rocky mountain destination! Or a place for serious hikers/ backpackers.
It isn't somewhere I would rush back to - we had a lovely few days there but more than enough time. Susannah and I are planning to go back and get the boat over to hike to Crypt Lake. It's a 7 hour day hike that is only accessible by boat - but they say the view is worth the hike. So maybe early next Summer we will head there to do that! I think it would be too much for the little ones.
