This place was AMAZING!! We have the Alberta History Pass, which means we got in for free - always a bonus - definitely worth buying if you are considering any road trips in the next year! The pass has already saved me a TON of money! You get in free at the Royal Tyrell Museum, Head Smashed in, Royal Alberta Museum, Ukrainian Cultural Village - and many more places!! For a year! It was just $75. and we have already saved the cost of it and much more!!!
So yes, this museum is fabulous. When you arrive, you take the elevator up to level 7 and go out on to the trail that leads to the actual Buffalo Jump. The museum is built in to the hills which is amazing as you can hardly tell it is there - such a wonderful way to do it! It doesn't destroy the environment appearance at all!
After seeing the jump, you go back inside and slowly work your way down to ground level - each level has interesting displays, exhibits and movies about Aboriginal/ Native customs and lifestyles, the climate in the area, buffalo and other creatures....
It was really amazing.
Then afterwards we went outside and walked one of the trail loops - it was soooooo hot though! Definitely worth doing though!
REALLY windy out there - again one of the windiest places in North America!!
