Bye bye old grey toilet......

The toilet died on Thursday....we aren't having our bathrooms done yet but we NEEDED to have the toilet replaced...so Lloyd bought a new one piece toilet today and put it in......a nice white toilet :)

And the horrid grey two piece toilet is GONE!!!! We are one step closer to having a new bathroom :) Our bathrooms in this house are old and horrid and I can't wait for them to be redone - but wait I MUST :(

The orangey stuff in the top of the toilet is iron from years and years of well water going through the system...the new well will ease that problem too.....today they came out and marked with flags where all our gas lines and electrical things are in the ground......one step closer to having the well dug :)

Lloyd is such a handyman :) It worried me when he said he had to put in a new toilet but he's done it - with no problems at all :)

Trees to plant............

Some of the trees Lloyd got given today......there are about a dozen in each bundle I believe.....they are blue spruce and they give them away every year for Arbor Day...

Lloyd went to collect them this morning and gave a donation to the food bank in return :)

These trees can grow very big within twenty years :)

Dan - hungover......

A pic of Dan this afternoon - still recovering from his party...he met such a cool crowd last night including one of the members of the Ukrainian dance troupe that tours the world.......the Shumka dancers...in fact everyone at the party is involved in the arts - theatre production, acting etc etc.....and he says before he leaves I can try something I have never tried but always wanted to.......

And I'm not giving any more details than that but I've mentioned it before and those who know me well will know what I'm talking about ;)

Preparing to run.....

Last year I started running....I was really enjoying running with the dogs each day and could run quite far - I really looked forward to it......and then winter hit and we ended up having so much snow here I couldn't even walk through it let alone run....I remember, even once Spring was here, that Christie and I struggled to walk through the snow.....

So now I am back to square one but this time I want to do road running..and I would like to enter a 5k.........thats my second goal....my first goal is to be able to run around our block (its a big block with two subdivisions and an 18 hole golf course in it AND several properties with 80 + 40 acre parcels in it - so its not your average block!)

Anyway...I bought the above books last year and have been meaning to get my running gear for weeks......

Today FINALLY we made it into town to get me measured up for running shoes...I got these great saucony shoes that are designed for a wider foot and underpronation.....

They are soooo comfy!!! I also got a sports bra and a running top which is one of those fabby fabrics that breathes and gets the sweat away from you fast....

Then in the Fall I can get a running jacket for cooler weather....

I also got a bumbag to keep my cell phone and a water bottle in......I had to go in and ask for a 'fanny pack' because thats what they are called here...but of course (as I explained to Laurie lol) a fanny is actually a vagina in England so to go into a store and ask for a fanny pack is hilarious ;)

So I am excited to go for my first run but I don't think I am going to be able to go today - unless its late this evening....just no time :( so tomorrow (Mothers Day) might be day 1!!! And I can't wait :)

I hated running when I was at school but I now love that alone time and being able to push myself a little further each time....

This is the most money I have ever spent on a pair of shoes so now I HAVE to run!!!! And I can't wait :)

And next time I go into Sportchek, I will LOOK like a runner :)

Dan update...

Dan is currently getting a bus back from West Ed Mall...some friends dropped him there this morning and he got himself lunch and a drink.......he is very hung over and not feeling good which probably means it was a GREAT party and he had a blast ;)

He has to get a bus to downtown Edmonton and then another to Sherwood Park.....so we will pick him up in town when we get Susie from her party......

Chris has already left for his party - he's biking there......

Now we are off into town to get some feeder fish for our pond (to eat the Mozzies) and to get my running gear :)

See ya later!!!!

Pot bellied pig info...

http://www.pigstuff.com/pbp/faq.html

I wanted to look up about pot bellies and sunburn...and came across this page which is an excellent article about pot bellied pigs......

Charlie is very lucky as she basically ahs the run of our land although she tends to stay around the house unless we go with her - and she goes on lots of walks with us......she is outside all day and forages for grass and plants (sadly in my flower beds sigh) so she is really healthy....and she is now sleeping in the mudroom at night and pees/ poos outside so she is totally housetrained again (yay!!)

It talks about her being sociable, rolling over for tummy rubs and wanting to be as close as possible so she will sleep on your feet :) all so true of Charlie...

It talks about them doing better in twos......so maybe we should consider another piggy....hmmmmmm

Another gorgeous day!

I caught the sun yesterday and have a tan line...and the weather is set to get hotter this week :) 25c on Wednesday...maybe more :)

Today they say it may get to 19 or 20........

Susie has a swimming party to go to today....Chris is also off to another birthday party all afternoon......

This morning Lloyd has gone into town to buy a new toilet...hopefully a one piece toilet....he has also gone to get some trees....to celebrate Arbor day, the county is giving away free trees.......in return for a food bank donation. So at 9:30am Lloyd went to the place to get the 25 free trees mentioned in the paper...and the lady asked how much land we have and when he said, she gave him 60 trees!!!!! SIXTY!!! So we have 60 trees to plant this weekend...

And its funny because Dan had asked if he could buy a tree and plant it while he is here...so he can say he has a tree growing in Canada...well, he can plant 60!!!! :)

This afternoon we are hopefully buying my running gear (finally!! It seems every time we try and get it something happens and we don't!) Lloyd has a hair appt with Ellen.......and at some point we are picking Dan up from town...he went to a party last night and crashed there all night........today he is going to Whyte Ave to do some shopping and then catching the ETS back to Sherwood Park.....so we will meet him at McD's next to the transit centre when we pick Susie up from her party......
'
Tonight I think the plan is to watch Night at the Museum'.........
