Susannah

Susannah. And if you look closely you can see her sleeves are splattered in mud from where she had just come in from riding her quadn=bike and was covered in dots of mud!!!!!!! But does she have helmet hair???? NO!!! Me? I would have looked terrible from helmet hair but Susie still manages to look great even covered in mud and after wearing a motorbike helmet!

Asleep on the porch...

Cairo finds a comfy spot......

Fab book!!!

Head over to the Mindless Musings blog to check out the FAB book that K has found for kids about reusable bags!!!!! Very cool!

Starting main bed

Last night we started working on the main flower bed at the front. We decided to dig out the whole bed. The soil in this bed (as my Mom will well remember from her attempts to dig in it last year) is nasty heavy clay. So we are digging it all out with the tractor and refilling it with the new lovely soft soil we had delivered. To the right of the rock - closest to the house - will be all grass - this is because we always walk and sit on the rock and we use the rock to sit on for photographs a LOT!!!! and any plants put in the flowerbed there get stood on and squashed all the time so it is POINTLESS!!! So we are going to grass up to the rock so it doesn't matter - makes a lot more sense to me!!

Then all the flower bed we are taking away from that side, we are going to ADD to the side!!! So the flower bed will still be the same side but be added to the front which makes sense. We are going to get ride of all the crappy plants in the flower bed that we hate. and practically start from scratch - keep the irises we love, the day lilies and the trees and things we like and I have a ton of different lilies ad other perennials to go in. I want to buy some peonies to go in and some other plants - I want bee friendly perennials basically that are Alberta tolerant!

So basically the rock is staying but will end up being at the rear of the bed. and will be central. It will still be there for us to sit on for pictures :) All the crappy soil will be GONE.....a nice deep layer of good soft fluffy soil will be in there. Grass to the rear and perennials maybe with a few annuals dotted about in the front. So this is what we are working on right now :) Looks a mess right now but I will take a picture when its done and it should look completely different and I will take a picture when it is all in flower too :) and again next year when it will be more mature :)

Frog catcher!!!

Quite a few times in the last week I have caught Jasper sat down by the pond trying to catch frogs!!!!! Yesterday I caught him in the act with my camera! unfortunately I had the wrong lens on as I had been taking pictures of the apple tree! But you can see what he was up to :) We think he slipped in a bit last week as he came up to the house with wet legs tummy and tail!

Click on the picture to see it bigger :)

Guess what he's done now!

Guess what my darling first born has done now!!!!

He has learned that my lovely Mac can be trained to react to speech! So after I went to bed last night he trained it to react to certain sentences.

So now, after you switch it on, when you say:

"Jane is crazy" it goes straight to my blog!!!!

Apple tree

My Dad asked me to take some pictures of the flower bed that I have filled in and grassed over by the apple tree. This apple tree is down towards the end of the driveway. Its kind of a crabapple tree of some kind. The bees love the blossoms. The flowerbed tends to get forgotten - its kind of in an odd place and its a hassle all the way down there. I decided to fill it in and grass it over and just have my half barrels down there for some annuals. It will make maintenance so much easier. mowing will be easier too. I can grow bee friendly annuals in the tubs too.

If the grass seed looks patchy it's because its been raked in - it's actually really even :)

Soil delivery

On Monday we had 50 cubic yards of soil delivered for our vegetable garden and flower beds. So this is what 50 cubic yards of soil looks like :) It took 6 truck loads to deliver it because of the road bans due to the snow melt/ thaw.

New reusable bag!!!!!

Oooooooh!!! I have a new reusable bag!!! A Marks and Spencers reusable bag!!! Thanks you Mom and Dad!!! :) It arrived yesterday :) It's short but very wide :) and a cute shape :) I was kind of hoping it would be FULL of M&S groceries :( but sadly no :(

lol! I LOVE M&S groceries!!! Ooh we used to do all our grocery shopping in M&S in Scotland!!! Such great food!

But we did get a lovely parcel of things from my Mom and Dad yesterday - Susie has gone to school today in her new leggings and t-shirt - she added a little skirt over the top - a very short skirt but it looked cool :) - the tshirt says 'I love my attitude'.

Abby is wearing her leggings today too! I'll take some pictures later!

The flying saucers are almost all gone - surprise surprise!! And the puppets were a huge hit! I think I managed to photograph one - the others were GONE and were being played with!! so missing from the photo are susies clothes and the puppets and most of the candy flying saucers.

Charlie you're too fat for that!

Charlie just doesn't seem to get that she does NOT fit onto the cats bed any more!!!!

Steven!!! Remember this???

(Everyone, Steven and I grew up together in a little village in SW England and he now lives with his gorgeous Wife Lynfa and their little Girl in New Zealand - oooooh which is where my bees are coming from!!!!!)

I found this the other day and was showing it my children - it was so funny because I had to try and explain what a CB radio was and how it was kind of like a cellphone but not - and kind of like a walkie talkie but not - and anyway, you gave me this badge waaaaaay back when we were in West Coker. You actually gave me two of them but one of them got lost some time between then and now (as things do) but I kept this one :)

I do remember walking around West Coker chatting to you over the cb radio - only because you were the only person I knew in West Coker with a cb radio lol - and my little cb radio couldn't reach any further than West Coker (even if it WAS the size of a house brick!!)

I thought you might find it funny to see this one after all these years!!!

So, ten ten till we do it again
(hahahaha thats about it for the cb radio language that I can remember!!!)

It's funny how far technology has come now!

Have a great week and say hi to your lovely family :)

PS - update your blog ;)

Spring showers please!

They say sporadic showers today - and I'd like some please! Yesterday they said there were some and I saw a few dark clouds coming towards us but then they would go either side of us and miss us completely!

I have new grass seed down and I have to keep getting the hose out!!!

So please - I'd like a shower or two today please! Just a little! I don't want the seed to wash away - but just enough to keep it in place and get the seed to take!!!

Thank you :)
