New Asian Village - Sherwood Park.

Tonight Lloyd and I headed to the newly opened 'New Asian Village' restaurant in Sherwood Park.  It opened just over a week ago.

The new restaurant is very close to our favourite Indian restaurant - 'A Taste of India'.  The decor and style of the new restaurant is gorgeous!  the booths have curtains around them and seem very cozy and private.  There is a roaring fire in the centre of the restaurant, and the food in the buffet is displayed well - much better than the way the buffet is done at the Sask Drive restaurant.

I really liked the atmosphere of the new restaurant BUT I still prefer the food at A Taste of India.  I like the service at A Taste of India - I like that they know us, that we get personal service - I like the cozy, comfortable atmosphere there....but mainly I just prefer the food there.

Lloyd did like New Asian Village though and so we will alternate between the two - I LOVE the naan breads at A Taste of India, and the desserts are better I think.  I like the buffet foods there too - although I don't like butter chicken at either of these restaurants - I MUCH prefer Joey Tomatoes/ Globals butter chicken!!!  (And Lloyds at home lol).

All in all though I think this restaurant is a GREAT addition to Sherwood Park.  We need more restaurant choices here in the Park as they all get soooooo busy!  It's in a great location too :)  I just really hope they don't put my favourite restaurant out of business because to me A Taste of India will always come first!!

Sam gets busy.....

Sam made a wonderful zebra by cutting up some of the animal print fabric we picked up from the reuse centre last week.  I got a  big pile of various animal prints to go in the kids craft drawers.  I just love the cute zebra he made - all by himself :)

As for the truck - Sam has been playing with part of a broken chair for about two weeks now - he uses it as a gun, as wings, for super powers.....all kinds of things - then he got the golf clubs at the reuse centre and he decided to tape them to the broken chair part and they are bazookas (omg lol) so he has been blasting things with those....then just yesterday he decided it all needed to be taped to the top of his monster truck!  So he got busy with the tape.  He just LOVES it and plays for ages with it - riding the truck himself or pushing it round.

I just love Sams little imagination!!!  It's crazy!!  He's so creative and I just let him get on with it - providing scissors, glue and bits and pieces for him to 'create' with!!!  :)

Altered box....

I picked up this festive box at the Reuse centre last week, as I just loved the shape of it and thought it could be useful for storage - I just didn't like the design and wanted to have it in my craft room, so I covered the box, painted it with glossy Mod Podge and added a couple of embellishments.  It looks really nice now, sat in my craft room :)

Free fun at the Celebration of Lights....

Yesterday we headed to the Celebration of Lights in our town - Christmas music, crafts, S'mores making, petting zoo, and plenty of treats to enjoy!!!  It was a fun afternoon supporting the local food bank :)

Christmas tree ornaments.....

Today we made Christmas tree ornaments by drawing round the children's hands - then they decorated each one and I laminated them before punching a hole and tying ribbon through each.  The children wrote their names on each one and stamped the date on - so we will have a record of the size of their hands this Christmas :)

Cat love....

Free fun :)

Free cookies, snacks, hot chocolate, cake.....all provided by Sobeys....free crafts.....and entry was free too with a donation to the local food bank!!  :)  Santa was there too of course :)  And lots of mascots walking around!!

Cookie decorating!

The highlight of any event is always the cookie decorating :)  So long as my kids get to decorate a cookie they are happy lol!  Even Laurie wasn't too old to decorate one last night - although he refused to let me take a picture of him doing it - the stick is my only evidence ;)

Petting zoo fun.....

Nice ass ;)

Lloyd thinking he's sooooo funny with his 'nice ass' jokes lol!

Love you baby x

Weekend catch up....

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.  We had just the nicest weekend!!!  Catching up with friends, Celebration of Lights yesterday, party on Saturday evening....some crafts and fun at home and plenty of relaxing time too.  It was lovely and I was so sad that Lloyd went back to work today after all his days off :(  still, we are having an early date night tonight so that will be nice :)

Today the children and I have had a busy day crafting again - after some schoolwork this morning, we set to work making tree ornaments - I will post about those over on the homeschool blog!!

Firstly, on to the Celebration of Lights....

At the Celebration of Lights last night, we enjoyed live music inside AND outside - we sat out by the fire pit for a while and watched the sleigh rides while listening to a great singer sing Christmas songs.  We made S'mores on the smaller fires too.

All photos are iphone snapshots so apologies for the quality ;)
