Saturday night goings on..........

We just got through watching the first ever Greys Aanatomy - just felt like watching it again and Dan had never seen it so he watched too......and we are about to have some rhubarb crumble (and NO that is NOT like rhubarb crisp...they are quite different trust me!!)

We picked our first crop of rhubarb on Thursday and I made a crumble with some of it....it smells very good...but we have run out of sugar which we need to make the Birds Custard, s Lloyd has run out to Esso to get some....

What else has been happening today? Dan, Chris and Laurie went to the mall...they did some shopping and Dan bought the children a thankyou gift for putting up with him (lol) - he bought them singing star or something or other for playstation...basically its like a karaoke competition for the playstation..the kids love it though so thanks Dan (even if it is driving me nuts already lol)

Dan also gave Lloyd and I a cd....Michael Bubles latest cd....THANK YOU DAN!

I drove into town to pick up the boys and had a lovely 30 minutes or so strolling around Chapters (book store) looking at magazines and books....I bought myself the Runners World complete book of Womens Running which looks really good....

This afternoon Lloyd and I went to the sunroom place to look at the plans for the new kitchen/ dining room....it's looking good and is going to be such a lovely big and light space once the interior walls are knocked down....so exciting....

Next step is for the architect to draw up the official blue prints - so she is coming out to meet with us soon.....

We are not sure if they will start in October or in the new year...turns out that it will mean digging a proper foundation and so we will have a new room added to our basement too - so Chris will have a new bedroom and his current bedroom will become part of the main basement area....which is mainly like a big family room/ den.

As the extension will need new siding, we think we will have the whole house siding replaced at the same time.....it needs doing anyway so it makes sense. We think we will go for white siding for the house.....

Lloyd finished the dog run tonight...he made a gate and fitted it - it looks great and so the dogs can move in to their new home tomorrow...they will be so much safer in there.....

I am so impressed with the dog run...it is sooooo much nicer than just having a chainlink dog run like most people have...its not ugly and as the cedar weathers it will fit right into the wooded surroundings...in fact we are leaving two or three trees to grow inside the dog run.....

Finally there is action up above....in the earths magnetic field (or whatever) which means over the next few days there may be a chance for Dan to see the northern lights (IF it isn't cloudy)........I hope he sees them!

Lloyd and I went to Timmys on the way to the sunroom place...I had another of their yogurt and berries...the vanilla ones...I am addicted to them lol...I have swapped them for coffee...so instead of havinga double double or iced capp, I have a yoghurt and berries instead :) it probably doesn't save anything on calories lol but I'm sure it does me more good than a coffee......

I want to go running tonight but I can't...I HAVE to rest today....Lloyd keeps telling me I have to rest too but I still want to go and run......I can't wait until tomorrow afternoon when I can go again...I know I can't run far yet but I love seeing how much better I can do each time......even if its just an extra driveway or another electric post or something......each day it gets easier.......

Well Lloyd should be back with the sugar any moment so I shall close and go and check on the crumble......isn't it just lovely to eat foods that you picked from your own garden??? I hope the raspberries and strawberries do well this year......I don't know that we will get much more planted this year now but we will be more prepared for next year at least.....

MMmmmmmmmmmmmmm

The first four minutes.....

Honor the four most-important minutes of the day. The moment when you first see your spouse – whether it’s in the morning or when you get home from work – dictates how the rest of your time together is going to go. So instead of bombarding them right away with questions about chores and bills, take 4 minutes to ask “How are you?” or “How was your day?” When you take the time to connect on a personal level, it makes a huge difference because it shows you care. So take 4 minutes to chat, then you can ask about dinner or the cable bill.

This morning I had a website recommended to me...its www.tesh.com and its great!! They have podcasts and articles...and this month is 'Passion and purpose' month....

One of their articles was about marriage and it mentioned the above....and I was thinking about the first thing Lloyd and I do when we see each other each day....

Sometimes it is early in the morning around 6am when Lloyd is going off to work...I will wake up when he brings my coffee in to me and we hold each others hands and kiss each other goodbye......and I always say 'drive carefully'....

Other days it is around 4:30pm when Lloyd gets home from work......and most days we greet each other with a big hug in the kitchen......

Of course not all days are that easy - we have days when the kids are driving me nuts and see Lloyds arrival as my excuse to escape for a few minutes peace.....but most days we meet with a hug...often a long hug until Sam comes over and yells 'MY Daddy' and pushes me away lol!

And then Sam makes Lloyd take his shoes and coat off so he is sure Daddy isn't going anywhere else!

I thought this article was interesting because although I have read much on relationships and watched many shows on tv about the topic, I have never heard the 'first four minutes' thing mentioned before but when I think about it, its right...those first four minutes can set the tone for the rest of the evening/ day.......and they ARE important.........

Lambeth.....London

So...I worked out that Lambeth/ London is Karen and Michelle.....(just going by the times you posted comments/ emails)

So even though you don't live in London, your connection is coming through via London......

So thats that one sorted....

But Norfolk? Radcliffe, Bury????? One could be my Brother In Law Jack I guess......maybe his ships connection picks up in one of those areas??????

Everything has changed because it used to pick up on Dorset...and areas more local to those in the UK so I knew who it was but recently the areas seemed to have changed....mine used to come under Sherwood Park but now comes under 'unknown'...thats since we got the Mac......

Lynne.....

I worked out that the person in Lanarkshire is LYNNE!!!! Hello Lynne! Good to hear you are settling in well to your new house and that Luke is liking his school...that is wonderful news! I missed hearing from you! Welcome back!!! :)

Saturday morning and plans for the day.....

Lloyd is leaving in 30 minutes to go into town - he's having his hair cut and dropping Dan, Chris and Laurie at the mall....they are going shopping together.

Then I will run in to pick them up at 2pm....the home...then Lloyd and I are going into Edmonton to speak tot he sunroom people about our extension....look at the plans and choose windows....doors....fixtures and fittings etc.....so we can finally get a price.

Basically the extension is half sunroom (dining end) and half walls (kitchen end)...but we will have a skylight above the island and a skylight above the dining end.....the sunroom will have a wall a third of the way up so it won't be windows to the floor....and french doors (do you call them that here?) opening onto a stone patio.....

Not sure I have explained that well.......basically we won't have a deck - I don't like decks...but instead will have wide weathered stone steps leading down into the garden instead.....

It means changing the basement windows as well because of fire safety etc.....

I'm looking forward to seeing the plans anyway....I'm fussy and I know exactly what I want...and after the stress and disaster of having the fireplace done last year, I worry that they will have interpreted things differently......

So thats my day planned....

My calf muscles ache today - and my lower back.....but I find it hard to take a rest day from this running program.....I know I should but I don't want to.

I am supposed to rest today because I didn't rest yesterday....but I think I may go for a cycle ride instead.....I was reading about cross training last night and it was interesting and it suggests cycling and also in-line skating...it also suggests cross country skiing for winter...which would be an ideal way for me to still work out in winter when running is difficult.....there is the indoor running track........at Mill Place and I can use that Thurs and Tue afternoons in the winter as I will only have Sam....but the rest of the week I would prefer to be able to do things here.....I have always wanted to get into cross country skiing anyway...so I think I may ask for ski's for Christmas......

I want to write some letters at some point today if I have time.....and I need to finish going through the girls clothes...I threw out a HUGE sack of clothes the other day - that the girls have grown out of. Their room is so much of a mess.....because we are waiting for their new furniture to arrive and the room has just been decorated...the books are all piled up on the floor and their toys are shoved in corners just waiting the new cupboards and drawers to arrive from E Children...and the bunkbeds - that will make sooooo much difference. But for now the mess is awful....

Ok another rambling post!
