My Little Leprechaun:

My Little Leprechauns playing a word recognition game this morning:

Irish rainbows:

We headed to the farmers market in Old Strathcona for a stroll.  Sam got the balloon man to make him a balloon - a bear on a motorbike :)

I had heard that Flirt Cupcakes were doing special Cupcakes ESPECIALLY for
St Patricks Day, so I took the children to have one each as a treat :)  We like sitting on the high stools in the window and watching the people go by!

I had a green Guinness....

We made our traditional green ritz:

I sat and watched the rain while dinner cooked - so nice to watch the rain in MARCH:

Flowers for sale at the farmers market - so pretty:

These flavoured nuts are TO DIE FOR:

I made fudge, skinny monkey cookies and we watched PS I Love You on dvd.  I had an Irish drink of Baileys:

Susie made the green icing for the St Paddys Day treats:

Sam with his bear on a bike balloon:

Admiring the flowers at the farmers market.  Spring is here:

St Patricks Day tag!!

I've had a little bit of Guinness in celebration of St Paddys Day - so please forgive any typos or ramblings :)

1. St. Patrick's Day will be celebrated this coming Saturday. What's a favorite article of clothing you own that contains a touch o' the green?

A green scarf that my dear friend Val gave me.  My Ex even used to call me the Girl in the green scarf because of it.

2. What's a favorite 'green space' in the town, state or province where you live?

In my town it would be Broadmoor Lake - I love going to the farmers market each week in the Summer, getting lemonades and then strolling around the lake and hanging out at the playground.

In Alberta it would be Grassi Lakes or Quarry Lake in Canmore :)  just walking there with Rosie is sheer bliss - the idea of having that as somewhere to walk my dog daily with that mountain view...WOW...I'm wondering about whether to make that a possibility....

3. Do you wish you were taller, shorter, or think you're just about right in the height department?

I like my height - it has never been a problem for me at all.  I don't think of myself as being little.

4. What's the surest way for someone to pick a fight with you?

Mess with my kids - or be closed-minded about religion or homosexuality/ gay marriage/ personal choices.

5. Broccoli-spinach-string beans-peas...of the four your favorite green veg? (Or the one you dislike the least if that first option is too hard for you. I know there are some veggie haters out there).

I love them all.  I don't think  I have a favourite - although maybe peas fresh from the garden :)

6. March is National Women's History Month...besides friends, neighbors, and the women you're related to, who's a woman in history you admire and why?

7. Keep calm and ___________on.

No clue lol, but I like these:

8. Insert your own random thought here.

It's been a FANTASTIC day :)  Loved it :)  Piccies to follow :)

For Today......

Outside My Window... It is dark and the coyotes howl every now and then.  I love that sounds so much!!

I am thinking...about plans for the next couple of months - I've been flicking through the library guide, the newspaper, the local magazines etc and writing events etc into my diary...plans for the kids, local events etc now that Spring is here - Easter is coming etc etc...I always like to know what is happening and when there are special classes happening!  I love that there are so many free classes and things available for kids here :)

I am thankful for...my positive nature and good friends.

From the kitchen... lasagna salad and garlic bread for dinner tonight.  Hash brown casserole on Wednesday - and enough left over for yesterday.  Baking going on....and tomorrow we are making snacks and treats for St Patricks Day.  Fun fun fun :)

I am wearing...nighty

I am creating... a canvas for a silent auction - meeting the organizer on Monday ready to give it to him.  It is nice donating artwork to auctions :)

I am going...to take the kids to Burger King tomorrow to take advantage of the free fries they are giving away hahaha!!  They are giving away free fries all weekend :)
I am reading...nothing right now, but I want to read 'Fifty Shades of Grey'....so I think I might get that!

I am hoping...for a few things right now....but not holding my breath on any of them :(

I am hearing... my tummy gurgling from the cup of tea Laurence brought me up :)  Nothing else though!

Around the house...Spring cleaning/ purging has begun...for me at least....I need to motivate the kids lol....I've been decluttering and sorting a bit each day...What else?  Rosie is constantly tracking muddy paw prints into the house, so we are just giving up on that at the moment - we tried keeping the floors clean for a couple of days and then....well what the hell.....one of the blessings of not having a neurotic obsessive husband coming home at the end of each day and tutting and frowning at the house means we can relax and not worry about it - and I can be stress free....and relax about things, and so can the kids!!

One of my favorite things...listening to Sam and Abby playing cards each night on the bed before sleep.  They play Go Fish, or Snap or whatever card game they feel like playing....tonight we all snuggled up and watched Finding Nemo and then watched 2012, and while watching it, we each did 'work'......Abigail was putting all kinds of words into alphabetical order - and was also working through one of her workbooks....Sam was working through his reading and writing book - he did some phonics work and word recognition - as well as spelling.

He amazed me yesterday when he was talking about some kind of math problem and he was working out some division problems all by himself and he didn't even know he was doing division!!  It just goes to show that it all comes naturally if left alone!!!  He was even explaining to me how he was working it out :)  It was just through using money in real life and math in real life...

Today  we were baking and he was using measurement and his skills regarding fractions and measurement are also amazing - just because he uses them in real life!  It makes me wonder about schooled children and the way they are taught certain subjects at certain times.  It's so unnatural!  Sam is just learning everything when HE is ready and he is just grasping it all soooo amazingly naturally :)  Its wonderful!

Abigail's skills and independence and confidence and assertiveness are incredible - the way she interacts in public - in the library and in stores...the way she orders for herself...even in places like Tim Hortons - the way she will order for herself - they always comment on it in there...about how grown up she is....but then of course I get frustrated in places like Sobeys - where they go to get a cookie and the girl won't give them because she has to ask ME if they have allergies....ummmmm my kids can speak - they CAN communicate!!!  Ask THEM - the ARE people TOO!!!!

But of course Sobeys policy they have to ask the parents because not all children are the same so they have to have the same rule for all children...sigh....

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...  tomorrow we are celebrating St Patricks Day - we will make our special Ritz cracker treats!!  We will make our rainbow treats too.  I'm going to make some crafts thats I've bookmarked and play some games....and watch a movie :)  fun fun fun :)  Sunday I think we will check the weather and maybe head out for a walk somewhere...unless there is an event on somewhere in the area....or maybe swimming...hhmmmmm....
