Wicked!!!

I'm just a little excited :)
Wicked! Is coming to Edmonton and I have tickets!!!  Woohoo :)
I have wanted to see this for soooooooo long!!!!!  I just can't WAIT :)

Fire tragedy...Slave Lake in my thoughts...

My thoughts are with the towns people of Slave Lake - a town not too far from Edmonton, that has had to be evacuated because two wildfires collided and have now taken the town :(  They think by morning there will be nothing left......the town library, town hall, the mall, the high school...already gone.....gas station exploded....homes gone....

Luckily so far there have been no injuries and everyone got out safely.  At one point the highway out was closed off by fire and everyone had to get together in large open spaces like beaches and parking lots.  Thankfully the highway was reopened and everyone was able to get out!!

Despite all the snow we had this winter, we have had dry weather and VERY high winds for weeks now, and we have many wildfires everywhere across the Province.  113 active wildfires across the Province!!  I have seen several around here myself in the last couple of weeks!

It's tragic to see an entire town burning like that....see everyone leaving :(  They say a few areas on the south side may not be damaged if the winds die down over night, but then those who live in those homes...what do they do in a town that is GONE????  :(

Tragic....

Getting to know you Sunday.....

1. have you ever gone to see a movie by yourself?  Yes!!  Just after I had had Susannah, Titanic Had just come out at the theatres, but I didn't have anyone to go and see it with, and didn't want to leave Susannah yet as she was so tiny, so I left her with Nigel and went to the movies on my own.  It was fine and I wouldn't have a problem going on my own again. Once the movie starts you can't talk and it's dark anyway.

2. would you rather go through a tornado or a hurricane?  I'd rather go through a hurricane for sure....BUT I would like to SEE a tornado from a safe distance - knowing I'm safe!!!  I'd love to go on a  storm chasing trip!!

3. have you made summer vacation plans?  Not yet - actually I really should book the hotel for when Nigel is here because I haven't even done THAT yet...and I also want to book a trip with the kids and I haven't done that EITHER!!!

4. what's your favorite accessory?  If you don't count my Iphone 4, then it would be either my scarves, or my necklace that I bought recently with the all the bits on it...It's a chain and then it has a bead, an angel wing, a nuclear disarmament sign and a few other things hanging form it :)

5. have you ever been thrown a surprise party?  Kind of....ish....the weekend before we left England, Lloyds friend Parker and his girlfriend Tracey, had a BBQ at their house for us and invited a load of Lloyds friends round to say goodbye and to meet me and Abby and the kids before we left the country....we knew about it but only just before and didn't know there were going to be so many there....

6. are you friends with your neighbors?  Yes - my neighbours are lovely - they are expecting their second baby in August :)  The husband, D, was soooo fabulous all winter and cleared my VERY long driveway of snow for me :)  They are a VERY child friendly couple and adore my children - and are very dog friendly too :)  We are so lucky they moved in and I will be sad to move away from them!!

7. what's the last movie you saw in the theater?  'Paul' the movie about the Alien - I saw it twice.  I took Susannah to see it, and it was sooooo funny that I told Laurence he HAD to see it :)  So we went together to see it :)  If you haven't seen it then I totally recommend it - although it does have a LOT of bad language in it, it is very VERY funny!!!  Like ET for adults :)

8 what's your favorite food network show? I don't watch tv so I have no idea what shows are even on these days I'm afraid....but anything with Jamie Oliver is usually good.  Laurence loves any of the cake decorating shows.

Instagram snapshots at Katies Crossing...

Funny items spotted in the candy store ;)

Coney Island Candy Store...

The next stop was Coney Island Candy Store....we had fun getting our fortunes read by the Zoltar machine, and looking at all the funny treats and jokes they sell :)

Playing 'tourists' on Whyte....

Whyte Ave fun....

The children all wanted to get new books today.  Laurence had spotted that there was a new book out in his favourite series (Alex Rider) and Susannah had almost finished the book in her current series...so I had promised to take them to Chapters today.  However, on the way back from brunch today I drove along Whyte Ave and thought it would be really nice to stroll along Whyte for a while too - so I went home and picked the children up, and we headed BACK to Whyte!!  We strolled along looking in all the windows and enjoying people watching...Whyte Ave is filled with such characters.  It's so varied and full of life - I love it :)  We walked up to Flirt Cupcakes and each picked a cake to eat:

Sam found it VERY hard to choose which cake to have!!!

Susannah and I both had a Red Velvet:

Brunch at the High Level Diner....

This morning I met my wonderful friends JoAnne and JP for brunch - after looking at reviews online we decided to try the High Level Diner.  When I arrived there was a LONG line up - as promised in the reviews, but the line moved really fast and it wasn't long before I was shown to a table!!

We had a lovely table in the window and I have to say I really enjoyed my blueberry  pancakes and fresh fruit.  I also had a Twilight Zone drink (above).  Yum!!!

It was a fun morning and fabulous company :)
I'm going to take the kids there in the Summer and ride the High Level Street Car and then go to the diner....hmmm maybe even next weekend...

Old photos....

Aren't these girls just gorgeous??  I couldn't resist these pictures!  Not sure how I will use them but somehow they will make it into my journals.

This first one reminded me of Susannah - I have several pictures of Susie stood in this exact pose...stood against trees like this.  I wonder who this girl is....why the picture was taken...when....what had happened that day...who is in the car driving away......and HOW these pictures end up in a box on a table in an antiques store.....

This girl below is just gorgeous too, in her pretty dress and hairband....looking all Summery and carefree.   I wonder what her story was.....

And I just LOVE the look of attitude on this girls face!!  The pose, the mood....the hair...her shoes off...blankets everywhere :)

And this couple...the girl with grapes on her hat....what was their story????

This picture just reminded me of one of my little instax pictures:

And this one??  I just couldn't resist this picture of the two little boys...mainly because I feel so sorry for them....they look sooo uncomfortable in their outfits and their hair done so silly!!  They don't look thrilled to be having their picture taken at ALL!!!  :)

$3. well spent because I just love looking at them and imagining the stories and I can't wait to add them to my journals!!  50c each for a little piece of someones history!!  I could have stood there for hours rooting through the box of pictures!!!  There were so many!
