rushing past

I took these pictures from the car as we were driving home on Saturday...they aren't very good.....I'm looking for the perfect row of fields filled with haybales......I think we'll take a drive one evening out East.......

This first picture is of Edmonton International Airport......so these gorgeous golden fields would greet you if you were to fly in at the moment.....

Well, not great snaps.....but we were going around 80 kmh and the window was closed......you can see the glare from the glass in the top two pictures...

click on a picture......

This message is mainly for my parents....and anyone else who is a technophobe......just thought I'd mention that if you click on a photograph it will make it bigger so you can see it better! Then just hit the 'back' button and it will take you back to the blog....

Demolition guys

Lloyd and Laurie look frighteningly happy when they are being destructive......they pulled more of the barn down yesterday......

And a picture of my beautiful Amber.....she will be 2 years old ina few weeks!

Always read the instructions!!!

So I phoned my Mom this afternoon.....it's her 65th birthday today. We talked for well over an hour...about all kinds of stuff....and she was telling me that she got sent an appointment for her mammogram......it came with a leaflet full of instructions of what to do before the appt. She didn't bother to read the leaflet.....

So on the day she showered and was careful to put on deodorant and as it was hot she wanted to put on some talcum powder....under the boobs I'm assuming lol......anyway she had run out of talcum powder and the closest she could find was foot powder! Smelling nice and clean she went to her appt...had the mammogram and then afterwards got told off because the leaflet had said DO NOT wear deodorant and DO NOT use talcum powder.......

So now she is likely to get called back because the test results won't be clear...and the radiographer told her off and asked why she hadn't done as told so my Mum told her she didn't bother to read the leaflet......she thought it best not to mention it was foot powder.......

This is the woman who raised me....the woman I am most likely to turn into.....OMG am I going to turn into someone who rubs foot powder under their boobs????

(Hi Mum...it's ok....most of the people who read this blog are Canadian and they think us Brits are odd anyway ;)

Storm approaching

We had another thunder storm this afternoon with heavy rain...I sat on the porch chatting to my Mom in the early stages....and afterwards decided to take photographs of the dark skies again.....Laurie cycled to the mail box in the rain just because he wnated to....and came back with several parcels for me......one parcel was about the second world war...teaching resources, posters and reading recommendations so Chris is happy with that! The other parcel was a whole series of posters about Canadian wildlife...we've put them up on the wall...there are two posters about wild birds...a poster about butterflies, another about caterpillars and a huge poster about bats.....oh and one about wild flowers.....I love free stuff!

Lloyd came home from work very upset....the rain was so heavy on the Hwy that the traffic couldn't see afamily of geese until they were right on top of them...he didn't hit any but said they were all wandering about on the highway in the midst of rush hour traffic... he's really worried the mother goose will be killed and the babies will be left to fend for themselves....so we have the number toc all for hurt animals and are going to drive out there as soon as he gets back...unfortunately we couldn't go straight away as he had to go out with his friend D to pick up a rotivator....D has sold his acreage and is moving into the city...so he has kindly given us his rotatillor (sp???)...which means next Spring we can get a vegetable garden going where WE want it...the old owners had it right in the middle of a lawned area which seems odd to us......plus we will be building the extension over it.....so we are moving it to be parallel with the chicken coop and run.....

Susannahs turn.......

A few snaps of Susie on Saturday....Chris and Sam stayed home.......two of the pictures show Susie ringing the friendship bell with her friends M and C...we met them and their parents at the gardens.......

A lickable face....

We ordered a small single cone for Abigail but the one they gave her was ridiculously HUGE and ended up all over her face........and dress.......we should have thought and taken all the pictures first but we had the ice cream before touring most of the gardens......so we cleaned up as best we could with baby wipes afterwards........

Laurie

A few pictures of Laurie taken on Saturday at the Devonian gardens. And that ice cream is a SINGLE cone.......I dread to think how big a triple cone would be....those ice creams were HUGE!! They had run out of most flavours...no wonder when they give so much in a single cone!!!!

I think Laurie looks a LOT like my dad in these pictures.....especially the third picture down...a DOUBLE of pictures I have seen of my Dad when he was younger......

Is it Spring Break??

I'm thinking I must have the wrong page up on my calendar....I am sure it must be March!!! I am in the midst of a crazy Spring-clean....

This morning I decluttered the girls rooms - sorted out all the clothes...have a huge sack of clothes they have outgrown ready for S....I've vacuumed, dusted, cleaned windows, cleaned bathrooms....decluttered all the kitchen junk drawers.....emptied out the fridge and pantry........now to start on the basement....

Laurie sorted out his own room too......and Sams just needed cleaning....

We pulled down more of the barn yesterday and have a bin booked for next week to clear it all out and to empty the garage of all the junk the old owners left here......we want to empty out the woods too as the old owners seem to have left all kinds of 'stuff' in there from steering wheels to buckets and all the old roof shingles too....

The roof of the barn has to be removed but we're told the metal is worth quite a bit so hopefully we can get a company to come and remove it for us so they keep the metal....

I have this need to clear things out...the clutter seems to have built up over recent months....I guess homeschooling means I don't get that time during the day to sort out as much as I'd like....and I like space and serenity :)

I feel we have really accomplished a lot today! And it's only lunchtime!

Homesteadin' Unschoolers....

I'm now part of the Homesteadin' Unschoolers blog-ring.....check out the button in my sidebar that links me to other blogs from unschooling homesteaders....... :)

I rated my life........

I got this 'rate my life' thingy from Laura's blog.......

http://ramblesnrantz.blogspot.com/

What a cool idea.......I thought my insomnia and having had two close friends die would have brought my score down but I'm happy with the results.....in fact I did so good on the love/relationship bit that they asked me to quote my 'secret' hahahahaha! Lloyd - you're my secret ;)
