The Melting Pot :)

Tonight Abigail and I went out for dinner together to The Melting Pot, a Fondue restaurant in Edmonton.  It was my second time there, but Abigail had never been before.  She was very excited :)  The staff were soooo wonderful with her and made her feel REALLY special :)

We had this blueberry and sage lemonade which was yummy...and then we had the cheese fondue with various breads and apple and vegetables....Abby wasn't too keen on the cheese :)  but she ate all the vegetables and a ton of the bread!  then we had our salads....she ordered the spinach because she LOVES spinach!!

Then we both had the chicken and that was when the fun started - it took her a couple of goes to get the hang of the fondue, but once she did, she was off and then she LOVED it and said it was the best restaurant and best birthday dinner she had ever had :)  we had a lovely time cooking our chicken and vegetable and mushrooms...we had things to stuff in the mushrooms and batters to cook the meat and mushrooms in....it was very yummy!!!!

Then it was the most important course - dessert!!!  Abigail chose 'cookies and cream - which had marshmallow cream mixed into the chocolate and oreo crumbs too....it was flambeed at the table too....and we had marshmallows, cheesecake, brownies, strawberries, banana, pineapple, poundcake....to dip into the melted chocolate fondue....total YUM!!!!!

Service there is UNREAL!!!!  Sooo friendly and helpful :)  Abigail was a delight :)  It was just a lovely evening :)  Only disappointment was the pan was too hot for me to lick clean of chocolate....sigh...

After The Melting Pot, we drove up to Toys R Us and looked around (where I started to regret wearing such high heels - ouch) and then went to Scholars Choice and got a few school supplies knowing I can now start keeping receipts and claim for them for next years homeschool budget.

Then we headed home and curled up on the bed....Abby started working through her new French and Language Arts books all excited...and I caught up on Facebook...while we waited for the others to get back from Lloyds....

And now it's bed time.....

Goodnight

You can find out more about these fabulous daily Emails HERE

For today......

Outside My Window... It's cloudy, I keep seeing raindrops on my window but it doesn't seem to actually rain.  The trees finally have Pussy Willow and Catkins on them...still no leaves yet or blossom...the last couple of days the grass has really greened up!! Yay for green!!!  Yay for green!!!  :)

I am thinking...how lucky I am to have such wonderful friends.  I really do have such wonderful friends.  I am also thinking that this ham and tomato sandwich I just made in this yummy french bread is DELICIOUS :)  And that many good things have come out of my marriage ending - including the chance for me to get to know my children more on an individual basis...it's much easier now for me to take each one out separately.  I'm not sure why but it is.  Like tonight, I'm taking Abigail out for dinner alone - just the two of us.  And last Sunday I went out just with Laurence, and a few weeks ago I went away just with Susannah...and a few months ago it was date night with Sam...and a few weeks ago date night with Chris...for some reason it just didn't happen when I was with lloyd.

I am thankful for...being open minded about the future, being in a good position despite getting divorced, Some people aren't so lucky.  Being open to self help books, therapy, journaling - because this has helped me move forward much faster than I would have otherwise I'm sure!!  Especially considering how difficult a divorce I am having to cope with - yet really I am happy and content despite of it

From the kitchen...cinnamon buns that Susie made from school, low cal yogurts, ice cream in waffle bowls, cinnamon tablets, nice breads, coffee....I want to lose weight but I'm craving coffee and carbs...

I am wearing...a towel on my head and a damp towel wrapped around me - I just got out of the shower as I am getting ready to go out for the evening :)

I am creating...canvases...many ca
nvases. Art journal pages.

I am going...to The Melting Pot for dinner with Abigail tonight...to celebrate a VERY belated birthday dinner with her :)  She has chosen to go for fondue :)  So we are dressing up and going for dinner......

I am reading...a fabulous book I picked up called 'Rebuilding - When your relationship ends' by Bruce Fisher.  It's really good and it's a great way for me to reassess how well I've done and how far I've come over the last year...By reading through the chapters I've been able to see how well I'm doing and and other things I need to work on.  I'd totally recommend this book to anyone going through a separation or divorce - or even marital problems!!

I am hoping...I hear from my lawyer tomorrow - I emailed him about a few things today - Lloyd was a total donkey today and trying to be a complete control freak all day!!  I called him on it several times and told him I was forwarding his emails to my lawyer because I was tired of it!  He even told me he was pulling the children away from their school board and putting them in to school - which my lawyer has told me he can NOT do....he knows this too.  He also tells me things like I ahve to sign the papers now and the longer it takes me to sign the papers the more my settlement money and spousal goes down and down.  I'm sure he thinks I'm stupid!  I'm sure he thinks I will just be so scared and so ignorant that I will just sign because I'm scared and believe him.  So then he says he will get a judge to force me.  So I just forward his emails to my lawyer.  Hopefully I will hear from my lawyer tomorrow.  I feel better when I hear from Jerry - he normally just tells me not to worry about it at all and there is nothing Lloyd can do.

I am hearing... The kids arriving back from their Dads...peace is over...it's been a lovely evening with just Abby...since we've been home she has been working on her French school work and her language arts on the bed...but now they are home the house is filled with chatter again :)

Around the house...I'm hardly ever home lately....place is a mess, I want to move but I still haven't heard yet whether I can start looking...I so want to put an offer on the house I want!!  I want to start packing and clearing out clutter!!!  I'm excited for our new start :)

One of my favorite things...being single and independent and the thought of a new start :)

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...swimming, roller skating - both at Festival place and also at the roller rink, Katies crossing for ice cream...celebrating Mothers Day with my gorgeous children :)  Taking Laurence to his tonsil check up at the hospital.....Watching Susie in her sports day....

At the dog park...

Last night we were back at the dog park with Rosie...it makes a nice change to walks at home because she gets to socialise with other dogs and we get a change of scene too...we walked through the woods along the trails, along Coyote Flats and back up round to the car again :)  It was quite busy as it was such a lovely evening after such a breezy day!!  Rosie had a lovely time - Abby had given her a bath earlier in the day and she was so lovely and fluffy and yet she decided to get into a pond and her legs were all muddy again...sigh....silly girl!!!  She does love mud and water sooooo much!!!  It's like a magnet for her!!!  Sam spent his time collecting sticks :)

That age...

They are at that age when they don't want to do anything but stay home on Facebook and they don't want their pictures taken ;)  But last night they had no choice ;)  I told Susannah and Laurence they HAD to come out for a walk at the dog park....Rosie is after all a family dog....and it was a lovely evening....so out we all went...and I snapped a couple of pictures anyway...

Teens, don't you just LOVE them???  Sigh....
