Bath time for Samuel......

A few snapshots taken during Sams bathtime this evening................

What homeschooling brings......

I am just going through Christies pictures.....getting them ready for CD and I just saw these and thought...these are GREAT pictures...these show what homeschooling can bring to a family....how close it can bring siblings......they have fun together, they LIKE each other...they are FRIENDS as well as siblings.......THIS is why I homeschool.

I went to school, my children were in school and I have many many friends with children in school but I can honestly say that I don't recall seeing any other siblings this close at this age except in the homeschooling community........

The tween/ teen years are not commonly the time when siblings are close and 'friends'.........especially with the peer pressure and age segregation from school.....

Anyway, these pictures just reflect all that I am trying to say...the kids weren't posing awkwardly or anything....they were happy and comfortable and totally natural :)

They are great pictures (just ignore the shadows lol as its not edited ;)

Roasted pumpkin seeds..............

Roasted pumpkin seeds are soooo easy and so yummy and the kids love them! Some people say NOT to wash the seeds after removing from the pumpkin, but I prefer to rinse them off......then I leave them to dry for a few hours and then I sprinkle them on a baking sheet..... I dribbled a teaspoon of canola oil onto the tray and then mixed them up and then sprinkled them with molly mcbutter before toasting them in the oven at 350 until golden.....I take them out every so often and give them a shake.....

Yummy and healthy snack :)

Friday ....................

Lloyd just called to say he's on his way home...for the weekend :) Yay!!!! I am glad this week is over and am hoping next week we accomplish more and do more and GET OUT OF THE HOUSE more.....so basically I hope we are all WELL and no more illness!!!!

At least the kids seem to have had a fun week....they were quite happy to have a week at home :)

Susie is excited about her pig......we have the Halloween party to go to next week.....Trick or treating....and a museum trip to go to :) Chris has work to go to and then we have Guy Fawkes Night!!!! :) I hope to make it to Parentlink next week too with Sam...finally I have a Friday free! Maybe the boys will finally find time to focus on painting their dragons too......

Remember, remember the 5th of November
Gun powder, treason and plot
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
should ever be forgot!

Best friends................

Rosie and Cairo cuddled up on the deck this morning.....they are good friends and are frequently cuddled up!

Chris

sometimes....

Sometimes you meet someone and you just know you don't like them....you know you never will...they just rub you up the wrong way right from the start....

And then there are those times when you think someone seems so nice and could be a good friend and then you finally see them for the pathetic person they really are.......and then it can be clear that they were only being friendly because they had their own agenda........

Lets just say that this week has been very enlightening!

house value...

I think you are all wrong :) I think you are all OVER estimating :) I am guessing at $500,000 - $550,000

But who knows...we will find out next week I guess..................

Apple bobbing fun

After lunch today we had fun bobbing for apples in REALLY cold water.......everyone managed to catch their apple ...even Sam although he just granned one and ran!!!! I think I did pretty good!!

Sams apple.....

Sam stole his apple out of the apple bobbing water bowl...but he really enjoyed it :) I love that my kids love fruit and vegetables :)

pumpkin carving fun.....

Here are our pumpkins......before during and after carving......I haven't pictures the second carving yet!!

Skeleton studies....................

Laurie worked on a project on skeletons today...he had to label all the bones of the body and then make a skeleton......we have a fab human body book with fold out sections so that was a great help.......

Halloween fun begins.......

Well we decided we couldn't go to the party today ........Laurence had a migraine last night and was vomiting....that isn't catching but it leaves him feeling washed out and grumpy....Abigail is still hacking away with her cough.....we ran out of day meds so she has had night time cough syrup and is likely to fall asleep after lunch........the rest of us are still feeling kind of flat and washed out...like we have a cold without the cold.......which is really weird.......

But the good news is I weighed in this morning (a day early) and I have lost 3 pounds!!!! 3!!!! 3!!!! I am stunned!!!!! :) maybe I should have given up dairy a LONG time ago!!! :)

So yes, we decided to stay home....and although we are sad to miss Daisy's party today, we decided to have our own little party here by ourselves :)

So we started with some Halloween crafts and project work......then we carved our pumpkins......and now we are about to have lunch - including the treats we had made/ bought for todays party.......and then after lunch we are doing apple bobbing and reading our Halloween book (Mary Engelbreit)

Then we plan to roast our pumpkin seeds for a snack tonight.....

Susannahs project was about bats, Laurences was about skeletons.....and Chris is working on comparing the CHristian view of All Hallows Eve and the Pagan celebration of Samhain (pronounced Sow (as in pig) ween) Abigail did some Halloween themed worksheets, mazes, colouring and a craft........

This morning I also booked Rosie in at the vets to be spayed, and Amber for her annual immunisations.....both in November......

Sam slept much of the morning which tells me he is not feeling great either.....but means we got the dangerous pumpkin carving out of the way while he napped and he can join in the apple bobbing fun today...............

Lloyd is out for lunch again today....third day in a row so I am starting to get a little jealous...yesterday he was at a steak house place...today he is out at an Indian restaurant which REALLY has me jealous lol! and Wednesday he met a friend for lunch out at the mall.....

We haven't been anywhere this week during the day........hopefully we are all back to good health next week and can get busy again...

So I think we may have a new family member coming to live with us this weekend...a baby pot bellied pig......we are driving over to pick him up on Sunday :)

Last night Lloyd and I drove into town to run a couple of errands...I finally dropped off the pumpkins to Cheryl (it was nice to see you Cheryl) and went to Tims and Sobeys.......

Well, off to have lunch!!!
