Tonights sunset

Back to it!!

I have been back on WW Core for two days now.......we went shopping yesterday and stocked up on unprocessed foods and everything else I need to get back on track.

I LOVE core.......I feel so good when I am on core.....I feel healthy, I lose weight, my skin is great, my migraines are reduced and PMS disappears...................

Yet after eating core for several months, I fell off the tracks at Easter and just couldn't seem to get back on......I am struggling to get back on track.....WHY????? I just don't know. Summer for me seems to be all about food and eating out and more food and that 'holiday mood' where you feel its a vacation so you eat whatever you like....................

So now my pantry is stocked with staples and I am slowly coming off the sugar and processed foods...and I know it will be so much better and the way we should all be etaing......unprocessed foods, no added sugar and plenty of low fat or fat free dairy products.

Wish me luck!

Today I had Fiber 1 for breakfast

lunch was Autumn Vegetable soup with rice cakes followed by plums with a yoghurt

dinner was a baked potato with Molly McButter and tuna and a salad of cucumber, carrots and red pepers with cottage cheese.

And I had a Skim Latte from Starbucks this afternoon......instead of driving thru Tims and picking up double doubles and a donut Lloyd went out of his way to go to Chapters and get me a latte.............

The funny thing is that I love core foods, I love vegetables and cous cous and baked potatos and all of that so it isn't hard once I get going.....so wish me luck that this week I can get back on track!

A rant about money.................

Today I am pissed off.......about the cost of things!!! Why are people these days so greedy and money-grabbing????? Its so sad......

I've been told that I 'don't live in the real world' because I don't have to worry about money, about bills or gas prices or what I want to buy in the grocery store.....and thats true...I'm very lucky...but just because we're in a good position financially doesn't mean I want to throw money away. I don't like to waste money...I'm not even keen on shopping......its definitely not somehting I do for 'fun'....ever!!!

But today it is one thing after another..........we looked forward to going to the Prairie Gardens for their Halloween festivities again this year...but they want $45 for a family and because our family is bigger they would charge extra $10 for one of the children (two if they count Sam)..... $45!!!!! to what????walk around a garden centre????????????? Once you are in there you have to pay for the cannon and various other activities.....so that $45 gets you into the crappy corn maze and the petting zoo......stuff some old clothes with straw for a scarecrow.......and sit ona trailer for a ride.............................

Its stupid really because $45 a family will mean many families just won't drive that far to go........if they halved the price then so many more would go and they'd make more money!!!!!

Tomorrow we are going to a harvest celebration with marshmallow roasting, music, trailer rides and more for $1. donation to a charity!!!! So why does the Prairie Garden centre feel they can charge so much for so little extra????????

So even though we can afford things like that I refuse to pay it........I just can't justify it......and I think its unfair on the many families in Edmonton who would love to go but could never afford it.

My older three children had been looking forward to taking part in the homeschooling soccer classes this Fall.....but today we found out it will be $15. per child!!!!! Twice a month! So for me thats $90 a month just for the soccer, Another $6 entry for my younger two to MP.....and that doesn't include entry to MP if the older three want to swim that day or use the gym etc....or snacks or drinks for the day (either taken from home or bought there) and if I had wanted to use the babysittings ervice so I could chat with the other Moms for a while that would cost $5 and if I wanted to swim too........geez you are looking at up to $150 a month.......just because my kids would like to play soccer with friends regularly for fun........

So luckily we have friends who also think its too expensive and we will be meeting them weekly for soccer at MP ...just the entry fee to MP and then they can play as long as they like in the gym!

And things like Girl Guides......when I was little all you needed was the uniform and you paid a little money each week as 'subs'.....but now its like over $100 to join, then you have the uniform to buy and you STILL have to pay every week several dollars AND fundraise and pay for camps.....................it's insane!!!! Where is all this money going?????????????????

Its like the yoga classes the other week.....and someone commented that in the proper yoga studio in towen you can take a weekly class for just over $5. yet here in the crappy little community hall wants $10 per session!!! So that would be $20 a week for me and susie to take a little yoga class in a local community hall!

I just don't get it!

Why is everything so expensive these days????? How do families on low (or even average) salaries get by???????? It makes me really angry that things are so expensive these days...needlessly...there is NO WAY the cost of running the event at Prairie Gardens costs so much they have to charge $45. So why are they so greedy????? I mean you can go to the zoo as a family for the whole day for $20 and it costs a hell of a lot more to run a zoo!!!!!!!

Rant rant rant!!!!!! grrrrrr I hope no one goes to the Prairie Gardens thing because IMO the price is ridiculous........

Me getting blown around.............

Hmmmm so these are the only pictures of me from our week away and Laurie decided to try some arty shots for some weird reasdon so they aren't great lol......and I look puzzled because I'm saying to him 'what are you doing?????'

Strollin' along..................................

This little lady was strolling along all alone on her way from Two Jack to Lake Minnewanka.............What a cutie............

Scenes from the Rockies....................

Fall colours in the Rockies

Fall is my favourite time of year and it's always breathtakingly beautiful in the Rockies at this time....sadly my camera just didn't do the colours justice............

Lake Minnewanka

Ok so in England, a wanker is someone who likes to 'play with themself' (if you know what I mean lol) and its also a slang term for an idiot.........

So of course, with that said, we always think its hilarious when we see signs to Lake Minnewanke......and in the car this time I made a joke about Minnewanke and compared it to the big wanker driving the car (who was not me lol) Of course I found that hilarious, whereas Lloyd didn't lol and started to think up jokes about me and my height lol!

The name Minnewanka actually means 'Water of the spirits'.....in Nakota (Stoney Indians language)

So we drove across Lake Minnewanke and stopped for a while there.......then drove along to Two Jack.........

You can read more about Lake Minnewanka and its fascinating history (including the village that is now underwater, here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Minnewanka

And we're back!!!!

The sign welcoming us back to Alberta...and I have to say that the Alberta sign is country-like and natural looking where-as the BC sign is brash and bright and plasticy looking and n ot suited to the Rocky Mountains........lol.....Alberta is home :) (for now at least lol)

We escaped Alberta!!!!!!!!!

So after 4 years of being in Canada we actually made it out of Alberta!!!! We drove into British Columbia to the Spiral tunnels to see the train snake its way down the mountain side......

The view from our hotel room...............

The view from our hotel room changed daily......actually, minute by minute...one moment blue skies and numerous mountains and the next the cloud would lower and we would only see the closest mountains:

Castle Mountain, half way between Lake Louise and Banff:

Lake Louise.............

We've been to Lake Louise several times before so we didn't stay long, but Lloyd always likes to go there for a walk when we're in the area.....so we also stopped by the lake and took some photographs.......

The bird in the picture is a Clarks Nutcracker...they are very sweet and beautiful birds and Lake Louise is one of the best places in Alberta to see them..............

Chase me.............................

While we were on the Tunnel Mountain Trail (by the hoodoos) we saw these two cute little guys chasing each other....they were so funny to watch and just chased each other backwards and forwards for ages....they were far too fast for me to get good pictures but we had fun watching them for a while :)

So, back to our trip..................

A few more pictures of our trip, including Sam in the puddles which is his favourite past-time.......he HAS to jump in EVERY puddle he sees :) no matter how big or how small lol! A few pictures of the children in the prehistoric park too.....

We were very lucky weather wise...it was Fall-like so chilly but it was dry and sunny at times......
