my latest craft!!!!

Lol Martha would be proud ;)

:)

Tonights craft

Blowing eggs is NOT easy.......now I know why Martha recommends her little gadget thing for getting the egg out of the shell! It took me about an hour to get the damn egg yolk out of the damn shell!

So I glittered the flowers on this egg shell - isn't it pretty?????? :) Martha made these with Conan someone on her show this morning. Lloyd was chopping up fallen trees today and found this bird nest. He brought it in for me and it's perfect for my Easter display and my pretty egg :) Yes my EGG singular! Because to be honest I can't be bothered to blow any more eggs!

Chuck E Cheese

Yesterday I had my first experience of Chuck E Cheese. We took Sam and Abby there for lunch. It was ok....the children had fun. They had pizza and Lloyd and I had salad which was quite nice. The kids had a blast winning tickets. I had great fun getting addicted to Wheel of Fortune. And loved playing basketball :) We all hid from Chuck E Cheese when he walked round (the kids have inherited my hatred of people dressed up in freaky costumes (although for some reason it's different at Disney - why IS that??????)

I don't think we will hurry back.....it was a complete waste of money lol.....but we had a great time and the kids had fun. I'd rather go to Lets PLay though because at least they get some exercise there - they have all the tubes and slides and everything there as well as the machines to play on - where as at Chuck E Cheese it's just the machines which seems a bit pointless......it seems to end up costing the same....

I certainly wouldn't bother going with the older children - I think they're far too old for Chuck E Cheese - they'd be bored stiff.

We can at least say we've been though....and it was fun....

tonights bedtime reading

My new issue of Homeschooling Horizons magazine arrived today :) I love this magazine! They will send you a free issue if you go tot he website! It's a fab magazine even if your kids are in school - full of great ideas for projects, activities, books, games........rainy day ideas.....things to do during the holidays :)

I'm still kind of interested in doing the frog in the jar experiment - as gross as it is (you put a frog in a jar with ants and they eat the frog and you end up with a PERFECT frog skeleton - yes gross and cruel but kind of cool too......)

Sorry that is sooooo NOT me......but sounds kind of interesting.....

Anyway this magazine is REALLY great - written by Canadian Homeschoolers for Canadian homeschoolers!

Nice mail day :)

A surprise in the mail from Glenda over in Saskatchewan!!!! A RAK!!! (Random Act of Kindness). Glenda is on the boards at Scrappers Haven......and is FAMOUS!!!!! Go out and grab a copy of Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine and flick through and you can find some of her layouts in the pages....and in the Summer issue you will find an interview about her including all about her scrapbooking room :)

I love Glenda's scrapping style and the ATC's I am making are for the swap Glenda is organizing at Scrappers Haven....

Fresh scent..............

MMMmmmmmmm yummy NOT!!!!!!!! :( lol!

Last night just before bed a familiar scent came through the kitchen window....a skunk had sprayed just outside the window!!!!! Charming!!!!!!!

Luckily the dogs were inside! We shut all the windows and Lloyd got his big torch and went outside to check to see what was around - couldn't find anything.

Chris came home from basketball around 10pm and went out to check on Charlie and give her a last drink etc and she was fine - the smell was going by then and we have no idea what the skunk had sprayed....something had obviously upset it though.

The smell doesn't bother Lloyd but it makes me want to throw up!

Normally we only smell it on the highway when a skunk has been squashed by a car.....but this was just outside the house :( Eeeeeeeew :(

Bee Movie...a transexual with a disability.

Danica asked me if I liked Bee movie.

I do like Bee Movie. Sam LOVES the movie! He's watched it a few times in the last week :)

It's a VERY inaccurate movie though - where bees are concerned! It's actually a movie about a transsexual bee with a disability! For a start male bees don't have stingers or pollen pockets ;) So Barry has actually had a sex change operation ;) He is also missing two legs - and that never gets mentioned does it?

Also male bees don't work in the hive - they don't make the honey and they don't collect the pollen and nectar - thats all down to the women (how typical is that?) Basically the bee colony is all about a Queen bee who acts like a single Mom to thousands of female worker bees - they do everything - they all take turns to pamper the Queen, feed her the royal jelly, make the honey to feed everyone, keep the hive clean, go out and collect the pollen and nectar , cap the cells, building the combs, feed the larvae etc etc (a womans work is never done sigh - although they do take regular rests)

Male bees are the drones and their job is to go out and have sex with virgin queens. They are mainly born in Spring and summer.

So as cute a movie as Bee Movie is, and as important as it is that we all know about bees and how vital they are to the environment and to life itself....I think it's a shame that they changed quite so many important facts about bees (and insects in general - I mean isn't one basic fact about insects that ALL kids need to know - that they have 6 legs????????

I don't know......I guess to me its just that part of the story is about Adams stinger falling off and being replaced by a sandwich plastic sword....but really he shouldn't have even had a stinger!!!

Ok my 15 year old is now telling me I take things too literally......and he wants to work in the movies so I guess he knows best ;)
