Being brave in the cold cold water!!!

Braver than ME anyway :) Susannah loved it.....and asked if we could head back there with Sam and Abby before Summer ends!!! I think that would be fun!!!

A Taste of Edmonton 2009...

Tonight we took Susannah to A Taste of Edmonton. I love this festival of food!!! :)

www.eventsedmonton.ca/taste.php

As usual the food was FAB - although it seems to get more expensive every year - this year the average plate 5 tickets each whereas when we first started going each plate was 3 tickets each!!! Still, it was delish and Susie LOVED it - we promised to take her this year and she had so much fun :)

Lloyd preferred the Chicken Tikka with the garlic Naan from the New Asian Village (which is opening in Sherwood Park in September WOOHOO!!!!!)

I liked the Beijing style kung pow chicken from Lingnan

Susannah seemed to like the chili lime prawns from the Canadian Brewhouse but also loved the Triple Layer chocolate explosion.

A day at the lake....

On saturday we spent the day at Coal Lake. We had never been before so we decided to try out both North and South Coal Lake to see what was what. We much preferred the North end which is very scenic and a lovely place to picnic and take a boat out - but we took the kayak out at the South end too and stayed there for a while - had a walk and a snack there etc.....

There were quite a few boaters and fishermen there that day but not many were catching anything - they said it was too hot (28c). Only one boat came back with a huge Pike while we were there and we got to see that!! In the process though they had lost part of there boat because the lake is so shallow and their engine was actually IN their boat OOPS!!!!

Lloyd took the rods out in the kayak for a while with the kids and they had fun trying but nothing got caught - I enjoyed sitting and reading and Abigail was happily painting lakeside!!!

Cheesecake makers....

Abigail and Susannah both made a cheesecake each - Susannah made an Oreo cheesecake and Abigail made a plain cheesecake...Sam sat at the island eating strawberries and watched!!! :)

Waffles for lunch....

Waffles for lunch and A Taste of Edmonton for dinner.....Hhhmmm not exactly a healthy food kinda day ;)

The Foamerator!!!

Today we have been very 'crafty' here at home...and one of the crafts we've been doing is making 'foamerators'!!! this is a craft from this months Family Fun magazine!!! It's an empty water bottle (with the lid removed). Cut the bottom off. You then cut a circle of face cloth/ towel and pop it over the cut off bottom and hold it it place with an elastic band. Dampen it with water and then dip it gently into a shallow bowl of dish soap. Blow through the neck of the bottle and you will make long snakes of foamy bubbles :)

Best NOT on a windy day lol as it wasn't so easy today lol but it WAS lots of fun!!!!! :) We've kept our circles of flannel to reuse on another day as we really enjoyed our foamerators!!! :)
