Racists..............

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6476115.stm

How sad, that in this day and age people are still so ignorant and racist.

Lynne...sand and stone.....

Lynne sent me a lovely Email the other day.......and I just wanted to thank her!!! I really enjoyed reading it Lynne, thank you for thinking of me.....

How is moving house going? When do you move? Are you all set?

How exciting! I'm actually glad I am not still living there now because I would have been sad about you moving away - but now I can just be excited and happy for you :)

Thinking of you!!!!

Roller Derby Diva....

I have added a link (on the right under 'links' lol!) to Christies new blog - Roller Derby Diva!!!! Go and take a look at how cool she looks in her Roller Derby gear.....

Oh and she tells me they have Roller Derby in the UK too so you Brits can go check it out as well! http://www.angelfire.com/retro/rollerblaze/rblaze.htm

Go Christie!

Heather!

You know I thought your comment about saving the oatmeal packet was funny because I am the same...I can't seem to throw anything away now because I want to alter them.....I guess it's very environmentally friendly lol.....

This morning I found myself washing out the Becel tub and lid ready to alter....

I bet my Mom is happy she is the other side of the world, otherwise her house would be filled with all my altered crap - just like it was when I was at elementary school :)

Wednesday stuff...

I just got back from the school......Chris left his lunchbox at school today so I had to take it to him...luckily the school isn't far...while I was there I was chatting to the secretary (she manages to remember my name but I just don't recall hers....I am hopeless with names...) anyway...I have booked 2 tables so far for Scraparama....and she was saying she loves to scrapbook and will be there too :) She seems so nice..her Daughter is in Chris's class and in fact it was her Daughters lunch that Chris bought at the Valentines Day lunch auction...

This afternoon I am starting the Spring Clean Up outside...basically I am going round with a big box that has a sack inside and I am going to shovel up all the dog poop and shove it in the bag in the box.....Sam and Abby (currently munching toast) can play on the porch in the sandbox or on the trampoline while I have the pleasure of cleaning up after my gorgeous dogs.....

Tonight is date night. We have to run to the Disney Store as Susie needs a costume for tomorrow (nothing like leaving things to the last minute huh?) She wants to be Princess Jasmine.....but if they don't have that costume in her size then she will have to be something else....it is Fairytale Day at school tomorrow....apart from the Disney store I don't know what we are doing tonight....on Saturday we are going to the Home and Garden show which I'm looking forward to....we can't decide whether to go to the Muttart on Sunday for the Tulip Festival.......

I need to phone my Mom to find out if she has booked her trip yet because I wnat to book Jasper and also want to know how many tickets to order for the tramway thing in Jasper....(air miles)

Our new sofas that were going to be delivered on Friday are now coming next Thursday.....we order a Love Seat and a sofa from La-Z-Boy on Sunday...oh and the Ottoman but that will take 8 weeks because we wanted some changes made to it....the design is called the Windsor and we chose the 'Mahogany' leather....I don't like the look of the sofas at all - but the comfort is AMAZING! The leather is so so soft and its all squishy........and you can curl up in it.....sooo relaxing.....Lloyd says I will grow to love the style of the sofa too.....he likes it already...and who cares when its dark and your'e curled up watching a movie??? Who cares what it looks like then???

Tomorrow I'm having brunch with Val.....that will be nice! Abigail has preschool...the kids finish tomorrow for Spring Break....Lloyds contract ends next week and he may have a few days off before his next one starts..depending on how fast the government are at getting the paperwork organized and what his burn rate is........I kind of hope he has a day or two off the following week instead..when the kids are at school.... of course Lloyd doesn't want any time off lol because time off is money NOT being earned lol! Sigh!!!

We watched a show last night (actually the last 10 minutes of a show) about Fisherman Island off the coast of Maine...you can rent the whole island which comes with this gorgeous huge house and its own chef!!! Its like $230 a person per night or something and you have to have a minimum number of people per night too.....anyway it looked heavenly so I suggested we book it for a couple of weeks next summer and of course Lloyd congratulates me on my new job (because I MUST have got a new well paying job if I think we can afford that lol!) so I guess we won't be booking our own island for the summer sigh..........

I also saw on the BBC News yesterday that cherry blossom season has begun in Japan....I remember watching a show last year on a 10,000 year old Cherry Blossom tree in Japan...it is held up by ropes now but still flowers every Spring....and draws crowds from all around the world.....I would sooooo love to see that tree one day!

I ahve to vacuum and I have to put away the clean dishes...and I have to sort some laundry........I really shouldn't be sat here at the computer!

Rhubarb Crumble

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/6474741.stm

This article on Rhubarb reminded me that last night I 'threw together' a rhubarb crumble' for Lloyd and I as a dessert...thanks to my Moms suggestion, I now keep a bag of crumble topping in the freezer...it doesn't freeze so is ready to use straight away...we also keep bags of frozen fruit in the freezer...and last night I used rhubarb...

All you do is put a layer of rhubarb about an inch or so think in an ovenproof dish......then you cover it with a thick layer of crumble topping and bake until the rhubarb is bubbling and the top is golden..... ta-da! It's done! And you can serve it with hot Birds custard or hot Ambrosia custard (Superstore sell it...as do Safeway) or vanilla ice cream.

To make the topping:

just mix flour and sugar and butter...rub it with your fingers until it resembles fine breadcrumbs......DONE!!! I don't use specific quantities...I just tip it in and mix it until it seems right.....maybe 3 cups of flour.....1 or 2 cups of sugar and 1/2 cup butter?????? You could find a PROPER recipe online I guess lol but I just throw it in together and mix it up and it always works.......

THIS IS NOT A CRISP!!! IT IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN A CRISP!!!!

Do I sound 'brilliant'????? lol!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/6470095.stm

I thought this was quite funny.......it talks about how North Americans react to a British accent...

I have lost count how many times people have commented on my accent and told me how much they love the way I speak...it's happened twice in the last week alone...a Mom at preschool and then one of the men at the John Deere dealertship......

Most of the time I forget that I speak 'differently' to others here.....sometimes I even have to struggle to tell if someone on tv is British or American...and sometimes when I overhear people in town I can't tell if they are British or Australian (which drives me nuts as that is one accent I can't stand lol! That and South African accents yuck!)

Christie takes the piss out of me for words I use (knickers and spots lol) but even then I don't notice my accent most of the time...

Occasionally I see people staring at me in stores...when we first moved here it was bad and I felt like I had two heads sometimes...but over the years more and more Brits have arrived and now I think its really common.....

One thing that struck me though is that Stephen Fry is Hugh Lauries comedy partner.....yet he doesn't mention the fact that Hugh Laurie puts on a really bad and really horrible kind of fake American accent for his character in 'House'...I heard him speak in that accent once and could NOT sit through even one episode because his accent is so awful....and so different to his real accent....the one I'm used to...

Yesterday Susannahs teacher emailed me a power point presentation Susie had done at school...and when she got home Susie read it all to me.....and she kept saying 'water' but of course she says 'wadder' in her Canadian accent.....where as I say 'worter' lol!

Oh and I don't think I sound brilliant at all...I just sound English ;)
