Sharon - big yard sale

The big yard sale starts at 5pm tomorrow night (Friday) and runs until 9pm and then continues all day Saturday (but Friday is BUSY so I wouldn't bother going on Saturday...

It is in Cloverbar Ranch subdivision behind Superstore.....kind of opposite the police station in Sherwood Park......it is normally a party atmosphere - they sell pop and popcorn, chips, hotdogs etc....and its a really great night.....the whole subdivision has a yard sale on the whole night so you just spend the evening walking around the subdivision from road to road to all the different yard sales....I always end up witha car full of STUFF .......and I always see lots of people I know so its a real social event here!!

the Cloverbar ranch yard sale is a MUST for us every year...the other MUST is the Greenlands Giant garage sale in August at the Greenland garden centre...its like a British 'car boot sale' as every one has a table there and they fill the parking lot with tables of 'stuff'.......

I much prefer going to one place for my bargains than having t drive around from area to area.....

Big boys toys.....

The workmen left their digger here tonight so of course Lloyd couldn't resist climbing up with Sam!!! And as the wheels are off the ground, Laurie pretended he was lifting the digger up :)

Our hole..........

Sitting on the porch.....

A few pictures taken while we sat on the porch this afternoon after school.....

My athlete..........

Here are some pictures of Laurence with his ribbons from last weeks track and field day (sports day) He also had a silver and a participation ribbon but he can't find them.....he did so well that he is racing at the Knights of Columbus Track Meet next week against all of the other Catholic Schools......

mosquitoes for supper anyone???

I just got back from a cycle ride.....after my stressful day I decided to go on my own.....I didn't cycle too far though...20 minutes or so....I got fed up with swallowing mosquitoes....YUCK...they are everywhere this year :( I know they are saying this is the worst year in a long time but that is an understatement...it is AWFUL out there.......YUCKY......

So I came back inside and gave up on the day......going for a hot bath and then to bed early.......it is supposed to be a rest day but a little cycling for cross training is fine so I'm glad I went even if it was only 20 minutes........

This is for Fat boy not so slim!

Hey Daniel...remember these?????? OMG did you know the one you had with the sausage is 500 calories and 34g of fat!!!!! OMG thats AWFUL!!!!!! But they are good huh? I had a couple when they first started selling them but don't have them any more as they are too greasy yuck!

Ggggrrrrrr

So finally they JUST put the water on....but now they have friggin visitors here......Um EXCUSE Me...but this is my HOME!!!!!!!!

Yard sale finds......

The children and I drove to a few yard sales this afternoon......at one of them I found a few books to buy......books are the first thing I look for at yard sales...

Today I got some interesting books....one about a near-death experience.......one is a recipe book published by a school - I LOVE these school recipe books because they are full of family-friendly and easy recipes.

Small Miracles 2 is about the 'heartwarming gifts of extraordinary coincidences'.

Extraordinary Groups is a book all about unconventional lifestyles such as the Amish, The Shakers etc etc...I thought it would be interesting anyway!

Tomorrow is the BIG yard sale that we look forward to every year......the kids really love it and so do I!! I hope to get a lot of bargains there! And a LOT of books :)

Oh what fun............

This is what my back yard looks like right now......and the sad thing is that it will all 'heal over' just in time for them to dig outa huge basement off the back of the house.....more mess :( Roll on NEXT summer when we can work on getting it back to normal!!!!

seriously.....

SERIOUSLY pissed now.........

Soooooooo NOT a good afternoon......I especially don't like being treated like crap because I HAVE A VAGINA when I am in my own home......its bad enough elsewhere but some men are total a-holes with less manners and sense than a friggin bacteria cell under a rock....

Lloyd (I love you Lloyd) is bringing home take out because I can NOT cook anything tonight because of these a-holes......

comments.....and moderation

I am not being sent emails to say I have comments, so I thought I didn't have any - went to the comments moderation page and found I had a LOT!!!! So if I don't add your comments its because I didn't realise I had any!

Syban switched over to a new email server yesterday...I am getting a few emails but not all of them - so if you send me an email I may not get it until they sort themselves out properly!

The most common regrets.....

The most common regrets amongst 65 year olds are:

* They wished they had reflected more. People usually don't reflect on their lives until there's a crisis. The people interviewed for the book said they wished they'd taken more time to look at the big picture of their lives instead of getting caught up in all the small, petty stuff.
* The 65 year olds also wished they'd taken more risks. Not necessarily sky-diving. But being bolder in their careers and relationships.
* They wished they'd defined their purpose. They wished they'd been more concerned about their own bottom line instead of their boss.' They wish they'd asked themselves in their 40s what dent they were making in the world.

My lovely back yard.....not so lovely!!

So this is my nice lawn and back yard...we had cut all the grass and it was looking green and neat and tidy...with the vegetable garden and everything else.....but now its all a m ess...and the noise is awful and we have no water......

OMG if this is what I am like now with justa well being dug, I am dreading the Fall when we have the extension built and no kitchen for a whole MONTH!!!! And then we have to have kitchen cupboards with no counter tops for ages as they won't cut the quartz until the kitchen is finished so even when the kitchen is done I have to have plain boards until the couter tops are ready!

I think I wnat to move out....

OMG the drill is going again...the NOISE!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!

Wednesday nights sunset...............

A few pictures of last nights sunset.........

Breakfast with Val...

This morning I dropped Abby at preschool and then went to the Esso garage to meet Val for breakfast....Christie didn't join us today. It was such a nice morning :)

Val was telling me all about a special blessing/ naming ceremony that the Blackfoot Band (native community) hold for the children.....it is when they are all given their Blackfoot names by the Elders.......Val was named 'Many Offerings' which I think is just perfect for her - what a lovely name!

Grace as always spoiled Sam with suckers (lollipops) and even came to find us afterwards with one of Sams soothers he had left behind.

It was a great morning and I am so glad that I had the morning away from all this chaos here at least.

I picked Abigail up from preschool at 12pm and stood chatting to Darlene the preschool teacher there.....she is definitely not staying on as the teacher next year and she was talking as if I was already the new preschool teacher for sure! So I guess its assumed by all that I will be taking over....I guess I should start looking into the first aid course......

There is a multi family garage sale close to us this afternoon, so we are going to head there when the kids get home from school.

The weather is nice again - yesterday must have just been a blip! On the news this morning they were saying how they expect it to be hotter and drier than normal this summer.......and that they are worrying about the risk of forest fires....

I worry about grass fires here.....especially as we are far from city water so its more difficult for them to put fires out here....hotter is good (now we have air conditioning lol) but dry is not good!

Day 2......

I have a large JCB right outside of my kitchen window digging a massive trench.....I have a well that is spurting water all over what WAS a beautiful lawn but is now a muddy lake.........I have NO water in the house because they have switched it off....I have a DEAFENING noise coming from my basement which sounds as though they are drilling in my basement...no idea what they are doing...all I know is it is messy and noisy and I cna't get anything done because the jobs I planned for today (washing floors, laundry, cleaning fridge etc) all need water......

Sam is miserable this afternoon so I can't even go out anywhere.........can it really be only 1:30pm?????????
