It started to thunder JUST as we left the park yesterday. Lloyd went and got the car for us so we didn't get too wet, and we followed the storm home. As you can see, the skies were very dark and we had as lot of rain. Still not enough for them to lift the fire ban - we are in such bad drought conditions here. Nice to see such heavy rains for a while though!
The children learned about 'being skunked' by people dying skunk furs, making paint brushes from skunk furs, top hats from beaver pelts, how the average beaver today is 3 hands and the average beaver back when the Fort was going, was 5 or 6 hands. It was a completely different breed of beaver than the type we have these days and they were totally killed off.
Sam and Abby enjoying a pony ride at Fort Edmonton yesterday. Abby starts Summer camp tomorrow and part of her camp involves going horse riding, so she is VERY excited!!!
Lloyd played golf yesterday and so I took Chris to an orthodontics appointment, did some grocery shopping, picked Laurence up after 3 days of sleepovers (yes he is very tired and grumpy from lack of sleep lol) and then drove everyone out to Katies Crossing for ice cream. Chris HAD to come with us lol - but it was nice to have him join us for once ;) and they had a garage sale there so he bought himself a big print for his new bedroom!!
As we arrived a friend of mine was just leaving, so I chatted to her for a little while before we went inside to order....
Just before we left a train went over the bridge - perfect timing for Sam :)
