My latest obsession....

I've changed from stars to hearts!

In the sunlight.....

This little icicle was so sweet outside of my bedroom window - all frosty!

My girls in the snow....

Amber and Rosie in the snow this morning...

Yesterdays snow....

Our day...

I had some errands to run today and so I promised to take Abigail and Sam to Petsmart to see the animals and they got to choose a treat for Amber and Rosie. They love going there and now its so close! We watched the hermit crabs and fire-bellied toads......the albino mouse....and Sam fell in love with a little white dove! There was even a cat named Jane that needed adopting!

Sam and Abby chose a craft each to paint and thats what they're doing right now - at the table painting porcelain pigs!

Its Friday YAY! Not sure what the weekend holds exactly as all our plans can be changed....but the main plan seems to be movies tonight....drop Laurie at his friends in town.....tomorrow Ice on Whyte....the rest of the weekend is free.....

Tonight there is an online crop at scrappershaven.ca which I was supposed to attend but that means I won't see Lloyd all evening and I'm not sure I want that...but I'm not sure I wnat to go to the movies either.....maybe we'll sit in Starbucks for a while and then I can scrapbook for a while too....oh who knows....lol!

I'm tired today. I feel like curling up at home with my new book instead......

Hope they are safe....

Ambulance and fire truck rushed up Hwy 14 a little earlier....the roads are pretty slippery in places today. I hope all involved in whatever it was they were rushing to are ok.

I stopped at a stop sign on 17th street earlier...and didn't stop....car kept sliding into the junction...there was a mni van coming towards me and it was all a little surreal...slow motion....thankfully I stopped short of the van.....I wasn't even doing 20.....maybe not even as I had only just turned onto the first road and then came to the stop sign so I dread to think if I had been doing 50 or whatever that road allows!

The roads ouot here are much better than in town....the junctions in town are so slippery in places! It's deceiving!!

I'm loving this.....

And the rest of James Blunts 'All the Lost Souls' album........

Videos a bit weird though lol.....

Anyway...this is the cd I'm listening to most of the time in the car at the moment!

New 'beaches' for Edmonton!

I think this is a great idea...I;m excited for this to happen!

Snowy day....

On the subject of birthdays....

Help me decide where to go for my birthday dinner next week.

I am trying to decide between:

La Ronde - (I hear its a wonderful experience and a lovely way to see the city (the restaurant takes an hour or so to turn 360 degrees) but have heard some say the food isn't great.....but then I have different taste in food to most Canadians it seems so I may enjoy it) www.chateaulacombe.com/laronde.php

Ruths Chris Steak House - Lloyd has been once before for a business lunch and brought me a cheesecake back....I wasn't impressed with the cheesecake at all BUT Lloyd says the atmosphere in there is worth going for.....he liked his food there. www.ruthschris.com/

The Creperie - popular and more casual. www.thecreperie.com/

La Boheme - French food in a haunted restaurant. www.laboheme.ca/

Lloyd doesn't mind.....it's our wedding anniversary and then my birthday so we want a special evening :) and he said that we'll choose another restaurant for his birthday in March....but which do we pick this time???

Happy Birthday Val...

Everybody please say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Val for today!!

I hope you've had a great day today and enjoyed the peace of having the house to yourself :)

Have a wonderful evening with James and the children!

Long phone calls....

I love my friend Samantha to death lol but when I get talking to her on the phone we just never stop talking! Over an hour and a half last night!!!!! When I got off of the phone the children were already in bed!

Still, it made up for the fact that I didn't get to chat to her yesterday morning.

Misery....

I thought this article was interesting......I do agree with the fact that this need for STUFF doesn't make people very happy.....brings debt and stress and unhappiness most of the time....

I'm working through Sara Ban Breathnach's 'Simple Abundance' again this year and it reaffirms my feelings.

L'il birdies........

These are best viewed big so click on each picture....not great pictures but these little guys happily eat away with me really close to them despite the window being open and me crashing about in the sink :) I can't wait for the new kitchen and sunroom to be done - all those windows!!!! And the window by the sink is going to be very low...level with the sink!!! I plan to get a lot more feeders than we have now and have them all around the wrap around porch so we can watch them from all the windows :) The design of all our additions is focused on the windows - I just think if you live somewhere beautiful with nature all around then you should be able to SEE it....so the windows were the priority with our design!

Hump day news...

Its Wednesday, and after a cold blast came through yesterday, the temperatures are back up to being nice again today :)

After waving the kids off to the bus this morning, I curled up in bed and watched the morning news.....then up and showered and ready to head out for the day.

We spent the morning at Parentlink - it was nice to see Samantha, but unfortunately her supervisor was in to 'check up' on her...and then at 10am she had to head out for physio on her knee...so I didn't get to chat with her - I left a note with someone else though asking her to phone for a chat when she can...she said she'd left a few messages on my machine and cell this last week...I am HOPELESS at checking my messages!

I also got to finally meet Andrea (Sheagatzi from LP)and her very cute little boy. It was good to meet you Andrea!

Parentlink was nice and quiet - Sarah and a few regulars weren't there but there was a PL event last night so maybe they were all tired from that - they often stay away the day after one of those!

Abigail had fun playing with a little girl there......and Sam did his usual thing..painting and building towers with the blocks! Abigail was thrilled to have pineapple at snack time...one of her favourite fruits!

After PL we headed over to Walmart for a few things. I needed eggs, Frosties for Lloyd, my running magazine and some free weights. Lloyd said to start with 5lb weights and see how that goes. I used to use weights all the time pre children but haven't for a LONG time....in fact at our old house the weights were only ever used as doorstops!

While in Walmart I ran into an old friend, Andi!!! It was so great to see her..... her twin girls were in Kindergarten and Grade 1 with Susannah. She's promised to pass my email on to another friend of ours, Hiromi, so I hope to hear from her soon!

We picked up a few Valentine supplies for some crafts we want to do.....and I bought a lint remover and a spray bottle for Lloyd as he keeps mentioning them. I love Walmart at times - its so CHEAP :) I seemed to buy so much but was shocked at how little it came to! Their tv commercial is so right :)

It should be date night tonight but because we went out last Thursday...and were alone for most of Saturday and had breakfast out......and then on Monday we got something to eat out before Costco...well we don't really feel the need tonight and as we're tired we figured we'd delay it a day or so.....I'm kind of pleased to have a lazy evening at home again :)

I got home and washed all the floors on the main floor and threw some laundry in....

It is supposed to snow the next couple of days. I have to head into the city tomorrow so I hope the roads are ok....

The children are home now as school ends at 2pm on Wednesdays...Susie is out feeding Charlie and spending some time with her and the dogs.....Abigail has been on Webkinz and is now waiting for me to read her ther next chapter of our current book. Sam is eating a hotrod while riding round on his scooter (yep my kids eat junk!) Chris is on his computer....Laurie is making a cup of tea.....

Ok, now Susie and Sam are heading outside to go sledding for a while....so I think I'm going to curl up and read my magazine and have some marmite on toast......have a nice evening everyone!
