So Chris is fascinated by World War 2 right now......has been for quite a while......he has read endless books both fiction and non fiction.....knows about Hitler in detail....knows about the allied countries and the relationship between England and France......which then lead to looking at Napolean......he has designed a computer game about the war and talks about it endlessly......its wonderful!
So Lloyd was telling him about Saving Private Ryan and how its a great and realistic movie......so last night we ran into Blockbuster and bought a copy and Lloyd and Chris plan to sit and watch it together tonight!
Chris has learnt so much from this interest at an amazing depth...far beyond anything he would learn in school. His interest was sparked by his voluntary work at the museum where he handles all kinds of things from old grenades and uniforms to gas masks.............his voluntray work is something he gets to do because he is homeschooled. His interest is his own interest which he can study whenever he wants to at the depth he chooses to...because he has the freedom to learn this way....
Homeschooling...in fact unschooling allows him this amazing freedom in education......its wonderful to watch!
But yeah lol I only homeschool so I don't have to get out of bed and don't have to make lunches (groan hehehehehehe) not because I actually care about my childrens education! ;)
