Me :)

Yesterday Lloyd and I went into town and had our hair cut.....Erin at Regis does our hair - and this time I wanted a change so I had my hair coloured as well as cut short....you can't see it well in this pic but I have very red streaks through my hair now! While my hair was being coloured Erin cut Lloyds....

I did think that maybe I shouldn't have taken Lloyd with me while I have my haird dyed - its not exactly glam is it - sat there with foils in your hair - he did bring me coffee though which kind of made up for the fact that he then took a picture of me - foils and all - with his phone camera! grrrrr

Cars cake......

So I made Sam a Cars cake for his birthday - making use of my Kitchen Aid mixer yet again :) Its so so lovely - did I tell you I am in love with my mixer?????? lol!!

Leslie you will LOVE yours - you won't WANT to buy any more cakes because its so easy and wonderful to make your own!

Here is Sams car cake.

It is snowing heavily here right now - I hope it clears as we are planning on taking Sam to the museum to see the Bob the Builder exhibit and take lots of pictures!

I have a two year old!!!!

My little Samsam turned 2 today! How can he be two already??????? TWO!!!! Here he is starting to open his gifts this morning......he had a lot of 'Cars' stuff....Ice Age 2 on dvd, a cart full of blocks to pull around....some more Thomas train set...a ball.....a lovely top and camo pants....and an aeroplane....he loved opening his presents!!!

Bubbles.....

Oh Lynne I would LOVE to go to Bubbles with you for a swim!! That would be so much fun! I loved that pool - Laurence often talks about it and says he wishes he could go back!

Our pool here is ok but doesn't compare to Bubbles!

I miss Scotland a LOT...we all do.....I loved it there.....Edinburgh is such a lovely city and I have such great memories of our time there and in Livingston......

I WISH I could come over for coffee or for a swim or to visit Mill Farm or the garden centre or that gorgeous park you told me about - with the fish and the deer....oh and that wonderful place with the Wooden fort in the woods for the children to play on......

Email me and tell me all about your house move plans etc etc!!!

Left handedness

Daisy yes you are right - Sam has been left handed right from the start - he never really used his right hand at all.....he gets it from Lloyd I think - who is right handed but eats left handed and plays golf left handed lol! And you know I had never noticed he ate left handed until his Mum mentioned it over Christmas! I have always laid the table for him as a right handed person - I guess he just switches when he sits down - how could I live with someone for 6 years and not notice????? And we even go out for dinner every week and sit opposite each other and I still didn't notice!!!!

So yes, Sam seems to be totally left-handed and Lloyd is partially left handed....no one in my family has ever been left handed so yet again I get to 'blame the Father' ;)

Baking

My cinnamon currant loaf and some of th ecupcakes I made using Martha Stewarts recipe - all her recipes seem to work for me thankfully :) Martha is a 'good thing'!!!

The cup cakes are going to be served with a whipped cream frosting and fresh raspberries - for dessert tonight......

Actually I have been so busy baking today that I haven't bothered making dinner! Oh well :)

Update on Mum

I just phoned my Dad to ask for an update on my Mum and....... she answered the phone! So she is home - has to go back in about three weeks to have her gall bladder removed which is an overnighter - but should be fine and back to normal soon and can still come over in June!!

So thats good news!

A true hero

What a wonderfully selfless man. I'm not sure I could be that selfless. Good for him!

My love......................

No words needed.....

cookin' up a storm..................

So the workman showed up at 2pm......only 5 hours late lol!

Ah well - I have baked up a storm - as well as the fruit loaf I baked earlier, I have also baked a dozen rock cakes and 2 dozen cupcakes.......

This Kitchen Aid Mixer is just so BAD for me lol because all I want to do is bake and eat ;)

Old Homestead

an old homestead in Strathcona County.......such a shame the one on our property is no longer there.......but its nice to know there was one here once......

Old friends...................

These are two of my good friends who sadly died a few years back......Julie Rothwell, pictures here with her husband Howard and family was a dear friend of mine from Stockport. She died from cancer in Spring 2003. I can still hear her voive saying 'Hi-ya Jane' as I arrive to her house for coffee! Julie looked after my children while I was in hospital having Susannah and she was our first visitor..........I loved going to her house - it was so comfortable and welcoming and I always spent the whole time laughing! Christmas reminds me of Julie because she always put her tree up so early and spoiled her children with endless toys - she LOVED Christmas.

I miss you Julie!!!

My other friend pictures here is Pam Melena - a friend I met online but who I got very close to - we supported each other through marriage break ups and relationship crises.........then one day - two days after chatting to her about Matt Le Blanc and kitchen paint colour!!! I got a phone call from Colorado police, telling me she had killed herself - and amongst the papers she left for her husband was a poem I had sent her.........

Pam - I miss your common sense and your shoulder to lean on...I'm sad that you felt this was your only way out......I miss you.

Hmmmmm the pic of Julie didn't work - so I will have to scan on one of my photographs instead......ok have attached one of Julie but its not great because I took a picture of a picture on my computer screen!!! But you can see her and thats what matters :)

last ones for now...................

a few more pics of Scotland......

Oh and in the last post there was a pic of Susie by the Christmas tree and she is holding a Barbie Birthday cake - that is all she asked Santa for that year and so he brought her one ;) She was very happy :) I wish they sold cakes like that here - the cakes here are useless :( Although that has encouraged me to start making my own again!

more pics from the past.....

Some more pics of Scotland and our life before we came to Canada......Lynne do you remember my little white car? I would be scared to drive that here as there are too many HUGE trucks ;)
