First snow......

I sat watching snow fall last night and this morning we woke up to snow on the roof top....the workmen can't work on the roof until this afternoon when it all melts and runs off as its just too slippery, so they are working on the back deck instead.

Denis was a fireman when he lived out East and he was telling me that there are companies that can remove the smoke smell from things - they have special machines/ rooms that you can put objects in and it literally sucks the smoke smell right out of your stuff - furniture of objects! I was wondering if there was anything of Taras that was saved - maybe from the garage even....that was just stinky from smoke.....I wonder if they have those companies here........I was out there chatting with him when I took their coffee out.

Tara has posted an update on her blog - please take the time to visit her at www.cfmommy.blogspot.com and let her know you are thinking of her. She's having a very difficult time since her house fire (obviously!) and I'm sure she'd appreciate your thoughts and prayers!

President Obama!

History was made today :) I truly believe the US made the right decision based mainly on the Democrats policies - those are, of course, what REALLY matters. Yet you can't get away from the fact that todays election result is a HUGE step for America - and one that is soooo important to me personally. As a parent of mixed race children and having been married to a black guy for 10 years, I frequently heard that there would probably never be a black President - that America was still extremely racist and would never be 'ready' for a black President.

Today has proved that theory wrong. Today, if a black child says they want to be President then every teacher and every parent can say GO FOR IT ;) Barack Obama has proved them wrong.

I am excited to see what he brings to the country. I have a feeling he is going to bring many good changes to the country - and hopefully the world will see the US in a new light.

Tuesday....Election Day continues...

So it's still Tuesday. Sam had Pre-K. They focused on Teeth brushing because of Halloween and all that candy!! Great choice! While he was there I ran to Scrapbook Diva and got the supplies for the scrapbooking class 'Stories In Hand' that I've signed up for. (See the blog post below if you're interest in joining me for this FREE two week long online class)!! Scrapbook Diva is convenient for MP but the staff just aren't as friendly as Scrapbook Memories and the store is desperately lacking in stock compared to Scrapbook Memories too! I just wasn't in the mood to drive anywhere much.

Then I went back to MP and sat and read with a coffee until Sams class finished. Colleen was at MP working out and came over and said hi on her way out - Hi Colleen (waving madly) - so that was a nice surprise :)

Now I'm waiting for Lloyd to get home. He's in Safeway right now and then will be on his way home. Tonight the bees are going into storage for the winter.

Tomorrow night Lloyd and I have date night and I am sooooo looking forward to it :) We're off to see 'The Secret Life of Bees' the movie based on the book I read in the Summer :) I am mostly just looking forward to going out with Lloyd though - I just NEED that - it's been a crappy emotional week all round :(

Life goes on, day to day stuff gets done.....but amongst it all I'm left wondering what Tara is facing throughout her day.....

Cutting down the trees...

The Electric company came by a couple of months ago to tell us that they would be cutting down all the trees underneath the electric wires in the roadside at some point, and so yesterday that day arrived. They have cut all along underneath the wires but not on our land - they have given us a list of slow growing trees that we can replant there for privacy. We still have some smaller trees on our land that will give us some privacy in Summer, but for now it is very bare :(

I understand why they did it - the power has gone out a couple of times when the trees have brushed the cables and they have to come every couple of years and trim the trees so this time they decided to cut down all the trees in the area - any underneath the cables - not just under ours but the whole area :(

Swap from Tess.....

Here are the gorgeous ATC's I received from Tess as part of the swap I did with her and Stacey - the theme was Winter/ Christmas. Tess also handmade the card for me :) (and told me off for not handmaking the one I sent her lol - ungrateful wench hahahahaha)!!

They're beautiful Tess - thank you!

Tuesday....Election Day

.....and its already looking as though we have a President Obama....THANKFULLY. Just VERY sad that his Grandmother died on the eve that he may become President. The very first black President of the USA. No matter how you look at this, this is a HUGE thing......an amazing step for the US. I will be very happy if Obama gets in. Many of Mccains policies had me very concerned. I don't agree with ALL of Obamas policies, but I think many of his major policies are a lot better than the Republicans....which are out dated and closed-minded imo.

I just hope that Mccain doesn't get in at the last minute......I can't think of anything worse...to me it's no different than having Bush in power again....surely Americans will have more sense THIS time...can't they see what that has done tot heir country over recent years and the opinion other countries have of their country now? THIS is their chance to turn that around. Obama can DO that!!!

Ha! I went back and knew I was right because IMO he over reacts whether he agrees or not!!

Monday

My Monday.

I read to Sam...we baked and Sam licked the mixing spoon afterwards. I added the extra veg and potato to the stew from yesterday. I made dental appointments for extractions for Chris for his braces and ortho appointments...I took coffee and baking items out to the workmen....did colouring with Sam......cleaned the bathrooms, did laundry, vacuumed the mainfloor, cleaned the kitchen and dining room....tidied the bathroom....tidied the mud room.

Every day typical things...but my mind is elsewhere...thinking about Tara and her family....wondering how she is getting through the day.

Anyone want to take a free class with me?

spraguelab.squarespace.com/blog/2008/10/10/new-class-stories-in-hand.html

You don't have to be a scrapbooker or a digital scrapbooker - this is more to do with writing, journaling and blogging...its about memoirs and writing your story - getting YOUR story down on paper!!!! :)

It's a free online class and sounds like it might be fun :) With projects to do and prompts to get you thinking and journaling.....even if you don't make it through the whole class it might give you ideas to blog about - things to think about and ideas to scrapbook about if you ARE a scrapbooker!

I thought I'd use it for my blogging.....

In my thoughts...

www.630ched.com/Channels/Reg/NewsLocal/Story.aspx?id=1037014

Anyone who knows me well knows that a house fire is one of my very worst nightmares. Even once you are sure all your loved ones are safe, the thought of losing all your precious belongings - your keepsakes and treasures is just something I can't begin to imagine.

With this in mind, I'd like you to please take a moment to think of my friend and fellow blog writer and reader Tara (from the CF Mommy blog at www.cfmommy.blogspot.com who tragically lost her home to a fire last night.

Tara probably won't read this as I'm quite sure she has far too much on her mind right now to be reading blogs, but she is on my mind very much right now - in fact she is on many peoples minds right now - her facebook page and linking parents are inundated with thoughts and well wishes and help for her.

I've sat a while today and surfed through some old pages of Taras blogs - looking at Kennedy's bedroom....macks room.....Tara's bed she was so thrilled with.....the scrapbook pages Tara had framed for the wall....pictures she had on the fridge.....the pantry where she had labelled all the shelves....the home Tara had made so beautiful :(

I'm devastated for Tara :(

Sometimes life sucks. It's truly unfair and it seems kind of crazy that my day was spent doing typical Sunday things while Taras life was spent coming to terms with that and her reliving listening to her little girls screams from last night :(

I do KNOW that they are all safe - and thats the main thing. And I KNOW they will rebuild and remake a home - there or elsewhere - and that this will eventually become an experience they all grow from - something that makes them stronger.

Sams Funny-isms from today!

Funny-ism 1:

Sam: You know Mom, Chris made me out of Lego, he built my legs and he built my body and he built me out of bricks and then I became real and thats how I became me.

Funny-ism 2:

Me: Sam don't pick your nose, use a tissue!

Sam: But I've got a bogie!! It's disgusting. I've got to get it out.........Oh its ok Its out now.....Its gone!

Me: Gone where?????? (panicked voice)

no answer....he walks off.......

Funny-ism 3:

We're in the laundry room. Lloyd is sat on the washing machine. I'm pulling our kingsize duvet out of the tumble dryer to see if its dry yet. Sam is swing on the door frame smiling......then he points to the door kick plate (?) and smiles at Daddy.....its MISSING!!!!!! The little buggers has UNSCREWED IT!!!!!! Llloyd bursts out laughing!!!! So we ask Sam where it is and he smiles and says he doesn't know......

So we say we need it because this is the main floor BATHROOM and you can't shut the door or lock the door without it...so he says HE didn't do it anyway but MAYBE its behind the washing machine!!!!!!!!!! ;)

SURPRISE there it is!!!!

Sam has unscrewed the thing!!! He has found Daddy's screwdriver and unscrewed the kickplate from the doorframe!!! I already have all my drawer handles missing from the kitchen drawers because he has unscrewed all of those and now he has moved on to screwdrivers.....

And you know who Sam blames - he points at me and said "Mom it's YOUR fault because I did it because you wouldn't let me have any more candy!"

OMG!!!!!!!

I blame the Father!!!!!
