Waking up to a Winter Wonderland.......

We woke up to snow this morning......I took these pictures from my bedroom window.......I'm so glad Lloyd and the children have the day off of school to enjoy it. The workmen are here but they can't work on the roof doing the shingles, so are instead working on the back deck until the snow melts later in the week. Chris has to go to work this afternoon in this though - working on the acreage....brrrrrr cold!

It feels like a Sunday..all snowy and quiet and restful outside :) As much as I don't want winter, you can't deny it.....it's so very beautiful!

Waiting for Santa....

Sam at the mall today.....checking out Santa's sleigh....

Monday - as Val says, a new week!

Its been over a week since Tara's fire now. I believe they are in the rental house now with rental furniture - but I get the idea from reading between the lines of little things posted here and there ....that things aren't great with the rental furniture (well not that it WOULD be great being that it is not THEIR furniture...but well FAR from great.....I don't know. I hope there is an update soon because I worry and I think about them often and I haven't heard anything from anyone for a few days. I was hoping that was because they were busy settling in and making it as 'homely' as they possibly could under the circumstances :( but maybe things are just not so good :(

I'm thinking of them anyway :( Its a new week for the rest of us but their nightmare continues :(

It's Remembrance Day tomorrow. Here in Canada that means a holiday tomorrow. Lloyd is off of work and the children will have the day off of school. Christopher also has today off of school. He has plans to meet his other friends for lunch at their school in town, so I am taking him to the mall in a couple of hours. Then he is getting the bus downtown and coming home with Lloyd later.

the workmen are here working and banging about. they start at 8am.

Our weekend was ok.....Saturday Lloyd worked - they are so busy right now and he is in so many meetings during the week that he doesn't have time to get his paperwork done, so he went in on Saturday to get it done. He went in at 6am and was home by lunchtime. The afternoon he spent outside chopping wood and getting yardwork done while I worked on ATC's for swaps.

Chris spent Saturday afternoon by the lake with a group of friends filming a movie. Susie went to a movie on Friday night and slept over at her friends house so Lloyd went to pick her up and I did the running about for Chris. Saturday night Lloyd and I took Laurie to his friends house where he slept over. Lloyd and I went out for dinner.

Sunday we took Sam with us and went to Stupidstore to get the groceries - we also went to Michaels and Staples for a few things.

Sunday afternoon and evening I worked on my Stories in Hand course (logging in to the website and signing in to the map etc it was basically all about saying hello, introducing yourself and finiding out more about the course and what was involved.....and then I finished off all my ATC's for swaps so I am totally up to date with those and have none that I need to do before my course is over YAY!!!!! :) Stacey I will give mine to you on Wednesday when I see you - along with your cd of pictures!

It was a productive weekend and now I'm all set to get stuc in to my online course - Stories In Hand :) I can't wait to get started properly TODAY :)

I hope you all have a good week. I hope Tara and her family find comfort this week and work towards finding a sense of 'home' amongst all this chaos and nightmare :(

Yum!!!!

We went out for dinner tonight - I didn't feel like going to a movie after all - maybe if it was local I would but I ddn't want to go far and none of the local theatres were showing what I wnated to see, so we just went into town for something to eat. We ended up at a Taste of India and both had their buffet meal. It was a really good choice tonight! $16.95 for all you can eat and soooooo much choice! Really good too! Their Naan's are soooo good! Yum! Anyway the best part of the meal was the dessert - I had FAR too much and they had this yummy dessert - had no clue what it was until afterwards when we asked - turns out its made of CARROT! So I looked it up when I got home!

It looked like a cross between cat food and the base of a British trifle (not Canadian trifle which is NOTHING like a British trifle TRUST me!!!!) and it was WARM!!!! I had mine with this creamy coconut-y custard and some fruit cocktail. I don't think you were supposed to lol but it went really well ;)

It was good :) Great service, great atmosphere, great food and yummy dessert!

Sunset for you....

Tomorrow I'll finish more of the ATC's so I get them all done before I get into the course properly.....

Anyone else joining in? You don't have to join in with the projects....you could just join in with the prompts and take part via your blog!

A recipe for my new kitchen!!!!

Bookmarking this for my when my kitchen is done!!!! :)

Home remedies :)

1. AVOID CUTTING YOURSELF WHEN SLICING VEGETABLES BY GETTING SOMEONE ELSE TO HOLD THE VEGETABLES WHILE YOU CHOP.

2. AVOID ARGUMENTS WITH THE FEMALES ABOUT LIFTING THE TOILET SEAT BY USING THE SINK.

3. FOR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE SUFFERERS ~ SIMPLY CUT YOURSELF AND BLEED FOR A FEW MINUTES, THUS REDUCING THE PRESSURE ON YOUR VEINS. REMEMBER TO USE A TIMER.

4. A MOUSE TRAP PLACED ON TOP OF YOUR ALARM CLOCK WILL PREVENT YOU FROM ROLLING OVER AND GOING BACK TO SLEEP AFTER YOU HIT THE SNOOZE BUTTON.

5. IF YOU HAVE A BAD COUGH, DRINK A QUART OF PRUNE JUICE, YOU'LL BE AFRAID TO COUGH.

6. YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

7. IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU'VE GOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

DAILY THOUGHT: SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES - NOT REALLY
GOOD FOR ANYTHING, BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN PUSHED DOWN THE STAIRS!

Leaving for the bus.....

The children leaving for the school bus on Friday......we had a little snow that morning! That wasn't their bus going up the road, just another bus going by.....

Alone...but I won't complain..

It's Saturday but it doesn't feel like it. I woke up at 6am as Lloyd was putting my coffee by my bed. He kissed my hand and whispered goodbye and I told him to drive carefully....he told me he loved me and then he left for work...I heard the garage door go down as I drifted off to sleep. It was like any other week day.

I woke again at 8am to my coffee and found the little note above folded up on top of my coffee mug. That made me smile :) But I'm still sad he's working on a Saturday - its been a long time since he worked on a weekend.

Normally I would sulk and complain and whinge and wine......but today I'm not going to, because you know what? My day could be a lot worse........And if all I have to complain a bout is the fact that my husband is working today, then geez....I really don't have a lot to complain about! I'm feeling extremely grateful right now!

Computer time!

Computer time is a daily occurrence for Sam these days! His favourite sites seem to be Playhouse Disney and Nick Jr....

Sams day off...

We're taking a day off today....so Sam is doing some painting at the table instead of at preK! He's more than happy with that though :) As you can see :)
