Pancake day...

Yesterday was pancake day - and the one day of the year when we make British style pancakes :)  

The kids LOVE having pancakes on pancake day - its very important to them.  So we mixed up the batter and I made sure to save some for when Sam and Abby got home.  They were so SO happy to have one!!!  :)

Cross Country Skiing on Family Day :)

At Strathcona Wilderness Centre - and best of all, all the fees from the 

rentals on Family day went towards the 'Everybody Gets to Play' scheme that our County runs, which runs free playdays and makes activities and sports events available for all throughout the year - so that people who can not afford to take part normally CAN take part!!!  :)

They even had lessons for just $2!!!  My two didn't need a lesson though - they were naturals and just zoomed off!!!  :)  

The weather was sooooo gorgeous - blue skies, sunshine, just -2c and stunning powder snow....

It was a really lovely day and I am so glad we went :)  The children didn't want to leave and we will definitely be heading back there very soon to hit the trails again!!

I think we will look for our own ski's too to save on rental!  There are sooooo many cross country trails in our area to enjoy - and Elk Island Park too!  Wow I can't wait :)  

Ok if anyone else comments on how 'young' he looks I will SCREAM!!!!

On Being Aquarian....

The Aquarian is usually happy if living alone, making his/her emotional forays when he/she wishes to do so and avoiding the restrictions, however pleasant, which are imposed by permanent relationships. When he/she does enter into longer-term relationships it is essential that there should be no feeling of being trapped, of being compelled to conform to convention. Provided that the Aquarian retains a sense of freedom, he/she makes an excellent partner for anyone who can cope with a certain amount of unpredictability and impracticality.

This is EXACTLY me and now makes complete sense as to one of the reasons why I was SO unhappy in my marriage - yet didn't even know it until after it ended!!  It also makes sense as to why I fight it every time a new guy comes in to my life....because I REALLY like my life how it is, and the last thing I want to do is end up with another man like my Ex Husband who was controlling and suffocating.

They need to have freedom and have time to be an individual, even when in a relationship. The best marriage partner is a friend first, so if you fall for an Aquarius Sun Sign, give them plenty of time. They don't like to be smothered, they need their space. While they are physically in the moment, their brain may be elsewhere, maybe contemplating what everything means that is happening, rather than enjoying the emotions of the moment. Because of this, they may come across as impersonal or detached.

They are faithful and loyal when they make a close friend or embrace a love. They may even end up being disappointed emotionally because they tend to expect more out of others than may be reasonable. 

 When stressed, they feel claustrophobic. It may be hard for them to explain to their spouse or friends why they need time alone. Spouses can become upset or confused because they will clam up, tune out and not explain what is bothering them. Sometimes, they need time away from family but will spend it with friends. This can be very difficult to explain to the family, and usually they don’t even try. They need mental variety, though they will usually remain faithful on other levels.

Those born with an Aquarius Sun Sign are charismatic, and usually the leader of any group they are in. They are smart, independent and original. They also have a bit of a rebellious streak that makes them appealing to others. They appear to find friendship more important than love. While this isn't true, it is still hard to see the truth from the outside. This can be frustrating to potential partners. They need to be prepared to throw out the rulebook. Living with an Aquarius Sun Sign can be challenging, exasperating and exciting. There are two sides to the Aquarius Sun Sign personality: outgoing, eccentric and exuberant; and shy, patient and quiet. Their real depth of character may remain hidden.

 They make excellent writers, broadcasters, journalists, teachers and social workers and a few excel as therapists or holistic healers.

They do not give themselves easily - perhaps their judgment of human nature is too good for that - and are sometimes accounted cold. But once they decide that someone is worthy of their friendship or love, they can exert an almost hypnotic and irresistible mental attraction on them and will themselves become tenacious friends or lovers, ready to sacrifice everything for their partners and be faithful to them for life. However, they are sometimes disappointed emotionally because their own high personal ideals cause them to demand more of others than is reasonable. And if they are deceived their anger is terrible. If disillusioned, they do not forgive.

One of the things that makes me laugh out loud is that my Ex Husband had me thinking that I was mentally ill, but since he has left, all my symptoms have faded away!!!!  Hahaha and really the 'symptoms' I had that he made me think were part of a mental illness, were just a part of my sun sign!!!  Extreme detachment, emotional/ anger outbursts after anger has been simmering.....and yet because I'm not under the stress he had me under any more, it has all faded away.  Of course there are days when I get pissed off - like anyone.  And yes, if you let me down big time I still don't forgive very easily.  You have to work hard to earn my forgiveness and earn my trust the second time, but I won't apologise for being Aquarian.  I love my Sun Sign.  :)

Among the faults to which they are liable are excessive detachment and an inclination to retreat from life and society Simmering anger and resentment, rudeness or, worse, a tense, threatening silence which may suddenly burst out in eruptions of extreme temper, these are all part of the negative side of the Aquarian.

This weeks horoscope for Aquarius.  The more I read about Aquarius, and the older I get, the more I realise I am so very much like my Sun sign, and the more like it I become - and the happier I am about that!!  I LOVE being Aquarian and think I was very lucky to be born Aquarian!  It truly is the most fun sun sign to be born under!!  I am so very grateful for my date of birth!!!  And that my girls are both Aquarian too:

so we headed there after some errands....I took the opportunity to snap some more pictures of the instruments there :)  They are so beautiful to photograph and Instagram!!  And then to play around with on percolator :)

Telus World of Science

On Friday we were back at the Science Centre for the day for homeschool classes :)  

Sam had a class on The Senses, and Abigail had a class on Small Machines.  

We were also able to finally get a look at the new Discovery Play zone - which is always Sams favourite area!!  He had a great time playing in the new construction area!!  

It was very busy on Friday - CRAZY busy - so I said we would go back next week and spend time there!  I love that we have the annual pass :)  

At home we have had endless science experiments going on this year - one of them in the last couple of weeks has been growing crystals - we have a few different crystal growing experiments going on in different places - one of them is this tree which Abby is growing on the kitchen windowsill:
