Enjoying Springlike temperatures!

It was a glorious weekend temperature-wise. Sunday it hit almost 25c!!! We were outside all weekend long, tidying up the acreage, weeding the flowerbeds and just enjoying the fire pit and yard toys! We even had a bbq and made the first s'mores of the year on the fire pit :) YUMMY!!!!

Our pot bellied pig Charlie

Enjoying the hot weather.

Mud puddles

A enjoying the big puddles on her quad bike this weekend!

Drama Queen!

A started drama classes today - she loved every minute of it - its a fun kind of class for 6 - 8 year olds....lots of games and improvisation. She has a script to learn for a play they are putting on for family at the end of the semester. They played a pirate ship game that she really enjoyed too!

All in all I think she loved every single second!

Making Books

www.makingbooks.com/

I thought I'd share this useful link...you can sign up for a monthly newsletter on this page too and she also has a great blog. The newsletter includes an idea for a book to make with your child - thery sometimes include ways to make books with twigs or brown bags...all kinds of things! Fn ways to get children making books, writing stories, creating stories, keeping journals......just MAKING!!!!! :)

We like it anyway....

Our week....

We have been out every day this week and haven't done much 'school work' really....but I'm sure a lot of learning took place! Certainly a lot of menu reading took place as we ate out every day!!! Lunch at Smittys on Monday with Jennifer and Soleil. A always chooses her own meals now and orders for herself so I leave her to it!

Tuesday S started his new preschool class in the afternoon, so A got to choose an activity for two hours. I suggested bowling or going to a new bead store to make a necklace - she chose the garden centre to choose a plant! She chose the most gorgeous Gerber Daisy in a salmon pink colour! We had coffee and cake by the fish pond and A also helped me choose some bee friendly Perennial flower seeds.

Wednesday we went out for lunch with Val and then went to the thrift store with Chris for a costume for his play Pinocchio...it's a pantomime so he is playing Mrs Gipetto.

Thursday my friend Tess came over for the day and we took a walk with our cameras. A also drew a picture of the owls we saw at the Raptor Centre (I will photograph it and add this) and wrote a thank you letter to the centre to send to the centre. It's the first chance we have had really.

Friday we were supposed to go the science centre but I wasn't feeling well so we cancelled and met Val in town instead and took a walk around Broadmoor Lake then we went to the mall for lunch and had ice cream afterwards :)

A has done quite a bit of drawing and colouring this week, some crafts, and spent some time on the computer. We also bought a Leapster from a lady on LP with 8 games so A played on that last night!

A has sent some Emails to her Dad and has added to her blog. She's watered her plants and done her chores. The weather has been good so there has been plenty of outside time which is ALWAYS a good thing :)

And her reading has come on in leaps and bounds!! This s not always a good thing as I find her reading over my shoulder when I don't always want her to (lol)

I find her spelling in her emails is really great now!!!! she rarely asks me how to spell words these days - although the words she chooses are still fairly easy words.

A starts drama on Monday. She is excited about that.

TGIF

It's Friday. Thank goodness. I'm so tired. I am so very glad the weekend is here. Lloyd will be home soon and we have no plans for the weekend except to hang out at home here and clean up the yard - play outside and just relax.

Chris is sleeping over at a friends tonight. He won't be home until after drama rehearsals tomorrow afternoon.

I was supposed to go to the science centre today. I was meeting Val and her little guy there but I had a migraine last night and was feeling tired and crappy and still so tired this morning so I cancelled. Instead we met at Broadmoor Lake and we walked around the Lake for a while - it was breezy but it was fun. The geese were noisy! It's so nice to see them back after the long winter.

After our walk we went to the mall and had some lunch together - including some ice cream each from Laura Secord! YUM! Vals little guy managed to stick his eye shut from the stickiness of a lollipop and my two were running about high from sugar so we knew it was time to go! I was so tired and not bothered about dealing with it so I just yelled at Val in front of everyone "Val will you please control your children"!!!!!!! completely denying they were anything to do with me :)

Despite feeling horrible and so sleepy it was a nice day. Now I am home and switching this off and going for a bath as my older two are about to walk in the door so they can supervise my younger two and I can pop some tylenol and go soak in the bath!!!!

Have a great weekend everyone - enjoy the good weather!

Tess!!!!! Grrrrrrr (lol)

Ok.....wanna see some more pics of yesterday..including a few of me (wah!!!!!) then you can head over to Tess's blog. My Daily Ramblings. Just click on the link in the list to the right!

Or don't (which I'd probably much prefer because everyone seems to like the pictures that I don't like lol.......and Tess is pretending that she didn't get my email t NOT post the pictures until AFTER she posted them hahahahahahaha GRANNY Tess)!!!!

While you're over there you can also check out Tess's lovely new hair-do and also her wonderful scrap book pages!

Puberty confusion!

Susannah is very excited at the moment - her class has been learning about puberty! Now we discuss all of this at home anyway, but because they are talking about it at school and she is with her friends, it is all full of giggles!! She says her friends are all whispering to each other 'you're hitting puberty'!!!! And then they all giggle! Sigh!

All week this has been her main topic of discussion - at all times! Even with Lloyd in the kitchen after supper she will be discussing periods and bras and boys and sex and....how will she know she's hitting puberty? and what will it be like? And will it hurt? And when can she date? (30!)

At first it was funny....towards the end of the week it has become boring and annoying (sorry Susannah lol)

But last night to be honest some fo the things she said made me mad! Not at Susie but at the school! I realise she is at a Catholic school but some of the things the school are teaching these kids is RIDICULOUS!!!!

A couple of the Moms are helping in class this week. Some of the Moms I know.

So Susie is talking last night and says that one of the Moms says that you can get pregnant just by having your period start - just like Britney Spears sister did. I asked what she meant and she said that she meant that Britney Spears sister didn't go with a boy but got pregnant by just having her period start!!!!!!!!!!

WTF?????????????????????

So we have another Virgin Mary on our hands???? Is this what they are teaching them????

Uh no Susie....I'm sorry but Britney Spears Sister had sex with her boyfriend and got pregnant. Anyone who gets pregnant has either had sex with a boyfriend or has been to a sperm bank or had IVF (and yes we have explained these things).

Yet Catholics are so against termination of unwanted pregnancies - so why on earth don't they educate their teens and preteens PROPERLY so there are less pregnancies in the first place???????

Susannah and her friends seriously though Britney Spears sister got pregnant JUST from having her period start - so if there are girls in her class whose parents do not tell their children the truth those poor girls might be scared that when their periods start they will have a baby!!!!!!! Can you imagine that fear????????? At ten years of age????????

My children are told the truth always - at a level suitable for their age and understanding. I think it is VERY important.

I need Lysol!

This morning I was cleaning the toilet. Sam came in.

Sam: What you doing Mom?

Me: Cleaning the toilet.

Sam: Why?

Me: Because my friends coming and I want it nice and clean.

Sam: Is there germs in it?

Me: yes!

Sam: You need Lysol! And you need to clean the kitchen table with it too because them is germs there too!

So ok firstly I don't buy Lysol. I buy bleach and other cleaning products but I don't buy Lysol....so this conversation leaves me totally gobsmacked because I realised that my clever little three year old has listened too and totally remembered the commercial from tv for Lysol wipes where they say that there are just as many germs on your kitchen counter as there are on your toilet!!!!!!!

So I guess this weekend we're buying Lysol ;)

Anyway I thought it was pretty cute that he remembered that! And the name too!!!!

Tess tagged me......

A) Four places that I go to over and over: the toilet (hahahahahaha) ok ok...Joeys Global, Sobeys, Home Depot (groooooaaaaan), Tim Hortons.....

B) Four people who e-mail me (regularly ): Lloyd, Sharon, Val, Terry.

C) Four of my favorite places to eat: Joeys Med. Grill, La Ronde (just because I had a LOVELY time there with Lloyd), OPM , Joey's Global

D) Four places I would rather be right now: In Florida, In my own private pool, in the ocean somewhere hot,

E) Four people I think will respond: Tara...Val...Rhonda.....Cheerios.....(consider yourselves TAGGED)

F) Four TV shows I watch over and over: Grey's Anatomy, Little People Big World...Jimmys Farm..........Jamie At Home.

Scenes from our day.........

Tess :)

I met Tess today :)

Finally :)

This is Tess :)

Yay!!!

Although by now she doesn't look like this because right now she's having her hair cut :)

So today I finally got to meet Tess (aka Bradsmom from Lp/ Scrappershaven and also the keeper of My Daily Ramblings blog link to the right although she has actually changed the name because she didn't write in it daily and I used to nag her about it lol)

Isn't she just so pretty? We took a walk around our place and I had fun annoying the hell out of her by taking hundreds of photographs but I got some lovely ones! I haven't had a chance to look at them all yet but so far there are some gorgeous ones and you know I didn't even edit these - just switched them to blck and white and added a border or whatever!!!! See!!!! Gorgeous!!!

I had a great time today Tess - it was lovely to meet you!!! I hope to meet up with you again soon!!! Lets scrapbook you spoiled brat ;) lol!

PS you do look sickeningly young for your age!!!! I LOVE that Abigail thought you looked 50 :) Granny Tess :) I love it :)

No snow :)

Last night I checked the forecast and it said 80% chance of 10cm of snow last night and today!!!!!! OMG!!!! NO WAY!!!!!

Tess is coming out today and I thought for sure she'd have to cancel....I thought we were fated to never meet as we have tried to meet up for months for various things!

But we woke to no snow :) and no fog :)

So yay! With luck all is well and Tess can still come and visit for a while :)

My truck is in today for some work - the pedal thingy that moves up and down is being fixed. Lloyd is tall and I am NOT tall....and the thing that moves the gas and brake pedals up and up and down for us won't move them up for me any more so that is being fixed today...and the air bag light is on so they are checking that!

The truck is all paid off now and is officially ALL MINE WOOHOO......so isn't it typical that things start happening now hahahahaha! but by tonight all should be well :) and Lloyd is buying the extended warranty thingy too :) JUST IN CASE ;) and that covers road side assistance too.

We finally decided to check out the hardwood floors under the disgusting grotty carpets in our bedrooms...and they are lovely polished hardwood floors....so this weekend -as well as being outside enjoying the GORGEOUS +20c temperatures...we will be inside ripping out carpets!!!!! Why on earth would people put disgusting carpet over lovely hardwood???? So next week I will go and look for a nice rug for the bedroom....but the FUGLY carpet will be gone with its nasty stains that won't come out EEEEEEWWWWWWWW :(

Homeschool park days in Sherwood Park may be starting next week which is good - they have them every summer here - all year long in Edmonton but only in Summer in Sherwood park as there is nowhere indoors to have them at the park. Abigail will enjoy that! I will have to check with Jennifer if she is going or whether the library sessions are continuing as Abigail will want N to be there I am sure....

I should go and shower and get dressed.....

Sharon - good luck at your check up today m'deary :)
